The ‘Budapest Bullet’ Overdose will not run again this term after his latest minor setback – but the Hungarian sprinter will return to training as a six-year-old in 2011, when connections are already planning a belated first visit to Britain.

This horse does my head in, so overhyped.

Is he coming, is he going? etc

    Not interested.

Well, I’m certainly interested in his career, as he so deserves a big win after what happened to him in France.

Why does Mr Wilson’s signature refer to a jumps horse please?

Not sure. But as he claims to be "founder of" Tataniano as well as Workforce it looks as if – whatever his contradictions as a tipster – he’s at least a success as a dual-purpose sire.

    Back to basting my goose…..

Overdose is up and running again. Let’s hope we can see his best over here.

Isn’t there a slight query about his temperament i.e. sweating up and getting fractious at the start ?

Yes and no. I think he’s a white line fever type. He boils up as soon as a saddle comes near him. I’m not sure I’d want to back him if he looked entirely cool calm and collected pre race. I’ve seen that type of sprinter before in Australia and they tended to go poorly when on their best behaviour.

Can’t wait to see the "Budapest bullet"-cum-"Hungarian Seabiscuit" run over here.

These sort of stories (sorry, narratives) make the sport for me.

All set to run in this weekends Temple at Haydock, been a long time coming but the moment is finally here it seems, according to connections if all goes well he’ll stay over here for the Kings Stand at Ascot.

I’d say Overdose will be odds on ….. not to go into our narrow, British stalls. I hope I’m wrong, and that we see what he can do. The current crop of British and Irish sprinters are there for the taking, either past their best or not up to the task in the first place.

Apart from the French, foreign horses have never done well in England but I have to admit the horse is clearly talented. However, I can see him getting beat at Ascot against the best we have to offer sprinting wise and I’m not sure about Haydock. Good horse but i’ll back against him because I can’t see Hungarian form being good enough here.

He was a top class performer in his pomp… but is he as good now ? With probable fast going at Haydock the answers will soon be revealed……… if he turns up !!!!!!!!!1

I dunno, I’ve never understood the hype about this fella. Winning mickey mouse races all over Europe doesn’t enthrall me. Watched the Abbaye that wasn’t earlier – someone was banging on about him running the 5f in 52.2, which is impossible. There’s a video on Youtube where Overdose’s Abbaye is at the top and Marchand D’Or’s below. They both hit the wire at exactly 54.4. The difference is that Overdose didn’t race in the latter and practically nobody raced in the former.

IMO Zarkava the Abbaye with Overdose running had a few smart horses in it, and Overdose looked be easing into a canter by the end, trainer reckons he could be even better than that run 3 years ago aswell, guess we’ll find out Saturday.

The trainer said ‘We can’t be sure he is as good as he was when he ‘won’ the Prix de l’Abbaye in 2008, but who knows, he may even be better now’ – which is not saying he could be better with any sort of rational judgement, it’s just blind speculation for the point of making a fuss. There’s more chance he’s not as good as he was 3 years ago.
