“The vote on fracking tonight is now important.”
I just logged on to post exactly this.
It’s being made into an unofficial confidence motion, with the threat of whips being withdrawn if Tories don’t back the government.
There is always a tipping point and ironically, despite all the u-turns, replaced Chancellors and Home Secretarys, this might just be the moment if there is a significant rebellion.

A list of the pro and cons of fracking
The pros and cons of fracking
Pro: alternative to coal. …
Con: a question of demand. …
Pro: access to materials. …
Con: risk of earthquakes. …
Pro: job creation. …
Con: air and water pollutionYou've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.

A complete mess, we’re getting beyond a change of leader at this stage. Time for Labour and I say that as someone who had never voted for them
The are alternatives to Labour/Conservatories but really it’s a 2 party system. The was a few elderly people back in the eighties who was disillusioned about both candidates that they didn’t vote for any of them. So was my belief when they spoke about it. However I belief that my vote is important and it’s on each policy that I cast my vote.
A this rate I don’t think Conservatories will be in opposition, never mind power at the next election but I’m most likely wrong on that score.

October 19, 2022 at 19:59 #1619154I honestly can’t quite believe what’s going on as I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.
This goes beyond beyond personally being a Labour voter glad to see a Tory government in difficulty because this is a government which still has over two years in power and there is no way to actually force a general election, despite the fact the country is descending into absolute chaos by the HOUR.

They’ve got to go

October 19, 2022 at 20:28 #1619157If MPs are being physically assaulted while trying to vote then democracy is dead. Utterly disgusting. We need an election and we need it now.
October 19, 2022 at 20:34 #1619158LONDON, Oct 19 (Reuters) – The British government on Wednesday won a vote in parliament on fracking it had earlier told Conservative lawmakers it was treating as a confidence vote.
Members of parliament voted by 326 to 230 against introducing a ban on fracking for shale gas.

Don't mess with mister in between.October 19, 2022 at 20:35 #1619159We do, but despite all this I don’t think we will get one.
In 1992, John Major, who had a much smaller and diminishing majority, was utterly humiliated on Black Wednesday, and sacked his Chancellor who then knifed him in the Commons, saying Major was in government but not in power.
And yet Major limped on for FIVE YEARS.
This is far more chaotic, it’s a kind of boomer/millennial modern politics entirely lacking in gravitas, maturity, integrity or statesmanship, and yet I honestly think they will somehow limp on until January 2025.
The Opposition cannot force an election and it’s a hefty majority.

October 19, 2022 at 21:05 #1619164Mogg and Coffey may well be resigning tomorrow …disgraceful , how can they goven when acting in such a way

October 19, 2022 at 21:14 #1619166The fracking vote was in effect meant to be a confidence vote in the government with a three line whip in place. And Truss did not even vote.
Farcical does not begin to cover it.
October 19, 2022 at 21:31 #1619168It’s unbelievable – if I’ve read it right the Chief Whip ultimately abstained herself and then resigned.
Coffey and Rees Mogg won’t resign – it will be filed under “robust discussions.”
But it’s incredible stuff – PMQs was today yet Braverman’s resignation and now this makes PMQs feel like it was ages ago.
It’s surreal, I’m actually losing track of time over it all.

I know the King is not supposed to actually use any of the power he theoretically has but a few “get your **** together” phone calls on his behalf might be warranted at this point.

October 20, 2022 at 00:05 #1619178There is no stand out candidate to replace Truss so it’s stalemate – rumour in the bankbroke bars tonight is hushed talk about the hands out return of the brexit blond bomber beast bouncing back in a year when partygate is Heavens Gate. His Brexit will cost the economy 100 billion plus in the next five years. The mini budget is three lengths behind in second with a disrespectable 70 billion.

That slack includes the two legged vermin and the bloody stupid ‘do anything for your master’ cows and the even dafter sheep, however I do have a small heart, and seeing the farmer and his squeeze queuing up at a food bank has brought the mistletoe out in me and I’ve invited them round for a roast on Xmas day.”
