Agreed, it was crass, not funny and he should know better but an apology would be enough in my book.

Whether or not you like cycling, have a look at Tom Pidcock if you haven’t seen it. Absolutely stunning.

It wasn’t sexist at all. He rather mentioned a stat or are all men and women equal in whatever they do?
Plus, how many men with make-up do you see compared to women?

Anyway, I backed Conners at 35/1 EW and Tom Kim at 30/1 also EW. I wonder if Morikawa is worth adding or if the top three in the betting might be too dominant.

I also have France at 16/1 and Germany at 18/1 to win the Mens’ Basketball.

The Olympic Games. Where biological men can now legally thump women in the name of sport:

Imane Khalif has been beaten many times, by Kellie Harrington among others. What exactly are these ‘tests’ she failed? I can think of many female athletes who looked more masculine than Khalistan

The boxing debacle, more information needed I think. No article I have seen is prepared to refer to either of them as men without using quote marks or some other qualification to keep the lawyers away. I do know that nobody complained when either of them competed at Tokyo and nobody seems to be able to provide full details of these tests. I cannot say whether they should be in the women’s tournament or not as I simply don’t know enough about it. Controversy in boxing eh, who’d have thought it?

Very much enjoying it all otherwise. The performances these people pull out under such pressure never cease to amaze me. 48 out of 50 clays hit in the shooting by the British chap for example, the precision and reaction is mind blowing. I doubt I’d get one. Not the best spectator sport though, once every four years is enough.

Pretty good showing by Britain so far with the traditionally strong track cycling to come as well as good chances in the athletics.

Money to be made if you know your minor sports too, I haven’t religiously followed the betting but plenty of favourites turned over that I have seen, including odds on ones.

“Money to be made if you know your minor sports”.

I wondered about that. Can the bookmakers really price up all these events accurately? There must be some great value bets out there if you know what you are looking for.

The boxing authorities consider they should not be in the womens tournament – but the IOC thinks it knows better.

Ok it’s only one example but the men’s eights rowing this morning had USA evens, GB 5/4 and Netherlands about 6/1. None of the pundits considered the USA a threat and sure enough they were a clear third all the way. It was obviously a two horse race between GB and Netherlands miles out. Sure nobody’s retiring on 5/4 winners but you expect favourites to at least feature. One of the British boats was beaten at 1/3 earlier in the week.

This evening’s athletics had the USA mixed relay beaten at 1/10 and Richardson in the women’s 100m was second at 10/11 or so and she was shorter than that before the competition started.

I reckon USA mixed relay team would have been 1/100 in running
The Netherlands runner on the last leg came from miles back

Looked a little more into this boxing thing. Both of the athletes involved seem to have fought dozens of times over at least five years, with multiple losses, before the seemingly unspecified tests were conducted. I don’t know if questions were asked or tests conducted during those five years but that is a long time to allow them to compete if they do indeed hold an unfair or even dangerous advantage. You would have to ask serious questions of an organisation that allows that to happen.

A boxing ring is the last place anyone with an unfair advantage over their opponent should be, be that related to gender, doping or anything else because ultimately the goal is to physically hurt your opponent. We do however need consensus across all organisations as to what constitutes an unfair advantage and one thing that is clear is that we currently don’t have that.

Looking forward to this 100m final, they all qualified in 9.93 or better. I don’t think there has ever been a race where they all went sub-10 but it is a distinct possibility now. The sport may not have a Bolt any more but should be an exciting race.
