France were not at their best against USA in the football last night but I’d expect them to be the likely winners. I’ve taken the 9/4

July 25, 2024 at 14:32 #1702646I can’t claim to know much about this handball lark but the Brazilian keeper is sensational

July 25, 2024 at 15:57 #1702655I’m taking a chance on Japan at 10/1. Every time I see them they seem
to be getting better. Their fitness is extraordinary, they seem to be able
to run for 90 minutes. A bit like myself I supposeJuly 26, 2024 at 14:47 #1702726Nathan when I was at 2nd secondary school I played in goal for my school Handball team. I was like Lev Yashin they could not score past me.
Also BigG I put my Golf Bets for Olympics in a few days in this thread
No tennis bets because expect odds on favourites to win
I might do track and field bets
July 26, 2024 at 19:18 #1702752Olympic Golf: Ludvig Aberg, 11/1. He clearly has the ability and maybe the Olympic tournament being free of the Major Championship label will help.
July 26, 2024 at 19:55 #1702757Absolutely love the Olympics. The athletics is always the highlight for me but also enjoy the stuff you don’t see on TV very often. Looking forward to becoming a sudden ‘expert’ in something while cheering on a Brit I’ve never heard of
Couldn’t care less about the football and not that bothered about tennis or golf either. We get enough of those the rest of the year.

July 27, 2024 at 17:27 #1702969First moan about the coverage, there are probably a dozen sports going on and still we have to endure endless studio chatter. I have switched to Eurosport and even they are at it.
July 27, 2024 at 19:21 #1702989I believe the BBC is restricted in how much it can show live due to the Discovery Channel/Eurosport being the main rights holder.
July 28, 2024 at 10:54 #1703066At least there has already been one good result at the Olympics. The opening ceremony was a farce, Macron was made to look like an out of touch fool and plenty of self important people got drenched.
July 28, 2024 at 14:28 #1703085Taking the knee. Has anyone noticed that in the swimming, all the USA
swimmers when they are standing before the race, they put one leg up
on the starting blocks. I can only think this is their way of “taking
the knee”.I understood it at the time, it was a good response, but I think that the
olympics should be free of political stands. I was quite disappointed.July 28, 2024 at 14:37 #1703086Cork…. Macron is a complete tool
I won’t go into the politics as not to bore anyone but Geeeez he’s a ****Charles Darwin to conquer the World
July 28, 2024 at 18:04 #1703104Thought the opening ceremony was spectacular, incredibly ambitious and imaginative; shame about the rain but c’est la vie
July 29, 2024 at 07:25 #1703138Added Rory McIlroy (8/1) in the golf.
July 29, 2024 at 08:31 #1703141‘I believe the BBC is restricted in how much it can show live due to the Discovery Channel/Eurosport being the main rights holder.’
Yes I’ve seen the BBC’s explanation of their rights, still not sure if they can choose anything as long as they don’t have too much at the same time or if it’s pre-determined as to what they have. No excusing Eurosport, although I suppose they need to make the extra subscription worth it by not giving away too much.
I see that Eurosport’s swimming commentator has got himself in hot water (ba-dum-tsh) over a sexist comment and been dropped. Not the worst thing he could have said but there was simply no need.
I ended up seeing the end of the Murray/Evans match against Japan. Whatever I may think about tennis being there, I have to say that was brilliant.

This story did put me in mind of some of the comments on the Dujardin thread.
The remark the commentator made was silly. But does he really deserve to be dropped? As far as I am concerned, he should be given the chance to say sorry and then get on with his job.
