Failed breathalyser test. Can’t ride today. Why does he do these things, the drink then the drugs then the drink again. He gets the top rides over here. Other jockeys would give their right arm for his job.

He shouldn’t be taking any chances before such a big day. Likely to be an expensive mistake.

He,s a lad needing some guidance , there’s obviously a issue there and as the season end shortly he needs to get some professional help , def Fallon vibe here and here,s hoping he doesn’t throw a great career away

Surely as this isn’t the first time they,ll have some kind of fine in his contract , forgive the pun but he,s surely drinking in the last chance saloon , for me Marquand is the next one in line , Curtis not far behind and obv a blind man can see Fallon being champion at some point

He clearly as an addiction problem. Surely he is a danger to other jockeys and himself. If you were done drink driving you would lose your licence for 12 months.
    What is the difference?

Isn’t talk of Oisin needing “professional help” or having an “addiction problem” over-doing it?
Not as if he was drunk or anywhere near it. Still under the drink drive limit.

The difference is he wasn’t riding. I wouldn’t say he has an addiction problem, although he may have (only those closest to him will know this). I’m sure there are plenty over the drink drive limit the next morning who don’t have an addiction problem, whether driving or not.

winning this year’s jockey title without adverse incident likely would have expiated the cocaine incident in the eyes of the Japan Racing Association and likely resulted in his being welcomed back with open arms for another highly lucrative winter stint.

suspect he’s now made it very awkward for them to do that for this winter.

Alcohol affects people in various ways. I mean, the guy will be 8 stone, probably has 2 slices of dried toast for breakfast, sits in a sauna for a few hourse, has a cucumber sandwich for lunch and a salad for tea when he get’s in. Maybe he just had 4 glasses of wine the night before instead of 3 while chilling out watching TV.

How is it ok for him to drive down a packed motorway in a car yet not be allowed to ride a horse in a race, it’s not as if he was totally pis#ed or anything ?

He clearly doesn’t have an addiction problem. He never took drugs. He never lied about that. He also has no responsibility for the horses he rides, so why not have a drink or two before racing?

It has the potential to become a big problem if he doesn’t seek some sort of help to get a grip on it – have to hold my hand up and be honest and say that I didn’t realise there was a lower legal limit for riding compared to driving.

His main retainer while wanting to be supportive will probably warn him that any further incidents could mean they review his position but you will find that whenever production outweighs problems you tend to see more latitude being given but as soon as it goes the other way he will be gone.

He didn’t actually “drink or ride” though did he? So there’s the first difference?

The limit is lower than drinking which is a good think obviously, but also means he doesn’t need to have drank as much to reach it? Is it really the biggest deal if he’s had 4 or 5 pints? Yes it’s unprofessional, but lighten up ffs. It’s not like he’s turned up absolutely legless.

People are so quick to jump to conclusions. Addiction? Really?

    Agree Ginge.

If it wasn’t for the cocaine incident, which was indefensible, this wouldn’t be a big story. Had a pint too many the night before, we’ve all done it with work the next day. However, the cocaine incident did happen so it’s hard to defend him too much given it wasn’t all that long ago.

I honestly believe Qatar are lucky to have him and that he’ll be taking up one of the bigger jobs sometime soon. I would not defend the cocaine incident but this one is harsh given he was below the drink driving limit and the fact that his low body mass probably means all he’s had is a little tipple.
