O’Brien was interviewed on RTV yesterday. He said Opera Singer goes to the Coronation. He didn’t totally rule out the Oaks for Buttons if “The Lads” want to run but seemed to favour finding a 10 furlong race for her.

I saw that on Youtube, CAS. tbh If it were good-firm I don’t think there would be any chance Buttons running. But they may think it worth the risk to get her preferred softer ground.

Had some Buttons matched @ 42.
Possibly a NR but worth a speculative few quid.

I notice Beckett has left Treasure in the race. Has he changed his mind or received a royal command?

I heard somewhere that the King’s racing manager (is it still John Warren?) is keeping an eye on the ground conditions… Because they want to run Treasure with a “bit of cut”…

Whereas before the Lingfield Oaks Trial I seem to remember connections saying they were expecting Treasure to improve there (which she did) because of the sound surface.

I was personally quite interested in Treasure of all the Lingfield fillies (imo shows a poiny toe action) when it seemed the going would be good or faster, less so now.

However, she is being well backed this morning.

Buttons to me looks a little tricky. So wonderful was a trickster + Buttons has an awkward enough head carriage. Nice price to find out thoguh.

Lots of the O’Brien horses actually look as good as their pedigrees. Both Ylang Ylang and Buttons don’t. They are the opposite of imposing. It’s a very poor renewal, but I wouldn’t be rushing to back either of them. Having blew out with two decent chances at the Curragh, I think Ezeliya gives Weld another good chance, almost by default.

Ylang Ylang is a bit small, but has the pedigree and demeanour to be considerably better over middle distances.

Buttons is bigger, but has a bit of an odd head carriage. Exactly the same as her dam Wonder Of Wonders who was second in Dancing Rain’s Oaks as well as placed in the Irish and Yorkshire versions.

Will probably side with Musidora winner Secret Satire. Not quite sure why she isn’t shorter in the betting.

Good chance this is the worst oaks ever ran, cant remember looking at an oaks and derby field as bad as these two, this is particularly bad, handicap material

Christ you’re as bad as Stilvi, ham.
There are several in both races who could yet improve a good deal and make top class horses.

At least the Flat isn’t being dominated by just one trainer.

Your usual cheerleading flannel, made worse by the fact you not even paid to do it.

There’s nothing bad about making an honest assessment. You should try it sometime.

Is that final sentence got anything to do with the quality of the fields?

The boring thing about this race for me is the fact i can’t see past Ylang Ylang or Ezeliya and i don’t see much value in their prices. I don’t see much outside of those two offering any value against them, so it’ll probably end up a race i’ll just watch.

Stilvi, i’m sure GT will defend himself, but what part of “There are several in both races who could yet improve a good deal and make top class horses.” is not an honest assessment? You can’t really argue with that statement, for all i’ve just said the only two i like in the Oaks are pretty much 1st and 2nd favourite.
