“I usually ignore Mike’s silly claims as well – but on this occasion I felt I had to call it out. He really is taking the mick if he seriously thinks an audience of well informed racing enthusiasts believe he got 16/1 and double the market price in the moments after Opera Singer won.”

I got 7s for the 1000 Guineas. Feel free to ask yourself, as you’ve brought it up, why I didn’t put something bigger like 12s or 14s for that if you (or others) believe I am lying on this forum.

Which bookmaker laid you 16/1 after the race, Mike?

“Ian has a bit of history of telling the forum he is on at a big price later on with that price long gone”

In order to feel motivated to lie, I would first have to care whether anyone on this forum (or in the universe) thinks I’m a good judge or not.

    I don’t.

I have never knowingly aftertimed here, either about backing a winner or claimed to have got what, in the industry, is known as a “back” or “back board” price.

I find the endless “just took fantasy price that’s in reality gone because the market is suspended and about to be revised” as they flash past the post for virtually every key trial race excruciatingly: puerile, childish and tedious and it’s one of the principal reasons I seldom bother with this folder any more.

Which is a slight shame, because I enjoy interacting with CAS and others here, who put up legitimate bets (ie at available prices).

And people like Bobby digging out winners at as big as 310 (309/1 minus commission) ante post have me lost in admiration.

My bets taken for the 1000 Guineas and Oaks were legitimate and available at the time. :o)

If you could screenshot all the bets Mike and cashouts.. I’ll automatically give you a 5 nil head start in poster of the year awards.

“I see i’m getting stick again for no reason.”

Mike, this is my last word on the subject. You are not getting stick for no reason. You are being criticised because you are claiming you were laid twice the market price by a bookmaker you refuse to name.

It is not just a recreational punter like me who has said he does not believe you. Someone who has worked as a racing journalist and editor and someone who is a experienced, respected punter have called you out as well. Do you really think they do not know the game?

You did not claim to get fancy prices for the Guineas because those prices clearly never existed. The 16/1 you claim to have for the Oaks did show on Oddschecker but I maintain that price was never properly available and, as Ginger says, would have been a palpable error even if it was laid.

I like to give the benefit of the doubt wherever possible but I cannot understand why Mike never posts the name of the bookmaker who has taken his bet.
If you’re happy to post the price you’ve got, what would quoting the bookie’s name cost you, Mike?
It might also give some credence to the cash outs of some dodgy bets? (Personally I can’t cash out anywhere since Bet365 have closed me down) ☹️

“Personally I can’t cash out anywhere since Bet365 have closed me down”

    Maximum respect.^

This is the real world I identify with, this is what happens to punters who know what they’re doing (as Oscar manifestly does).

I too am heavily restricted by Bet365 (they won’t let me back any horse overnight to win more than a tenner), ditto my close betting friends/associates plus any other punter skilful enough to keep their head above water.

Same story with literally a dozen other online accounts I’ve had.

It’s using “beards” to organise getting on or the exchange for anyone who wins at this game.

So much good material in this folder – some decent (or at least half-decent) judges, I’d say.

Fantasy back board price claims just pollute a cracking part of the forum.

Time it stopped tbh – if I ever post a bet here again, I’ll name, bookie, odds and time the bet was placed.

The only thing I won’t name is the stake as that’s just Billy Big B*llocks crass and vulgar and we all bet according to our budgets and anyway some of the best judges bet small.

    Who will join me?

More to the point, who will decline to join me?

Naming the bookie will make no difference. If the price changes after my fast finger has done its work the non believers will continue to not believe. Not that I would name anyway as i get one or two ‘perks’ and wanna keep it that way.

Refer back to Nathan’s post on October 2, 2023 at 11:53.
Case closed. I will continue as per usual :o)

I wouldn’t say case closed as such Mike. I was saying it’s possible
    But
I’m on the look out at times to get in quick after a race and 98 times out of 100 oddschecker price of say 16/1 with an unnamed bookie will be double the price of everyone else. However when you hit that price to bet it will change to a new price. Very, very rare I’ve hit the bigger price and got it. Desert Hero was one and Ronnie O’Sullivan another for the World Championships years ago. Possibly a few more which lost so I can’t remember exactly who. The Desert Hero was £5 each way and the O’Sullivan was something like £6 or £7 so doubt it cause a ripple. I’m sure you’d get flagged up the amount of times you manage to get on moments before a slash. Cash outs are impossible after a poor performance unless you are prepared to take a big hit. It’s like buying a shirt, wearing it having a bird poo on it and selling it back at the same price, it doesn’t happen. Same with buying a car.

    “I was saying it’s possible”

Correct. It’s possible. Therefore they are the prices i got.

“Very, very rare I’ve hit the bigger price and got it. Desert Hero was one and Ronnie O’Sullivan another for the World Championships years ago. Possibly a few more which lost so I can’t remember exactly who.”

It can happen as you’ve described, i’m not saying it’s a regular occurrence.

“Cash outs are impossible after a poor performance unless you are prepared to take a big hit.”

Taking a hit or not taking a hit depends on the price obtained in the first place.

Im not joining in the debate about prices..

Just wanted to join the ”Ive been given the elbow by 365 club”…No reason given despite a ROI request, that showed nothing. Although during the online chat about getting my balance paid. I was asked if I have multiple accounts..which I do not..

I decided to keep my balance untouched in case it triggered an account review. When I eventually got severely restricted I naturally withdrew almost all of the balance. This promoted an email stating they needed name bank account inside leg measurements etc (why, when they already had my bank account details?!?) After reluctantly supplying these I immediately received an email stating that because of my line of work (I ran an IT business before I retired) they were shutting me down immediately. And two days previously they were still giving me free bets!!
    It’s a funny old world! 👀
