Not sure whether I can gloat or not. I was singing paeans to Rumoush about a week ago, but it was on the 1000G thread…
I guess that means I can’t.
April 14, 2010 at 19:17 #290290Well you can completely forget Timepiece on that evidence.
Timepiece reminds me a lot of Henrys Reams of Verse, she was well beaten on her seasonal return to her stable companion Sleepytime in the 1000gns! Once stepped up in trip she showed what a class filly she was by winning the Oaks!Timepiece will go for the Lingfield Oaks trial and you will see a different filly when her stamina kicks in!I am not at all disillusioned by todays performance!
April 14, 2010 at 21:40 #290309I agree TAPK. She ran like a stayer not a Guineas horse and come Lingfield we will see a different filly!!
April 14, 2010 at 22:13 #290319I don’t see why she should get any closer to Rumoush. Rumoush is much more stoutly bred and the trip was 1m 1 1/2furlongs, hardly a 7f blow-out.

Rumoush will never beat her again Zarkava!Mark my words!
April 14, 2010 at 23:21 #290343I’m with Zarkava on this one.
April 15, 2010 at 00:05 #290349Not the greatest of runs from Timepiece but she did get trapped for room twice and finished a non-pushed 4th.
She needs further that’s for sure. She doesnt have the speed for a mile and should come into her own at Lingfield.
Lets not forget, Midday finished 2nd to Debussy around this time last year! That was hardly eyecatching and look where she ended up! A dual-Group 1 winning filly
Write Timepiece off at your peril
April 15, 2010 at 17:15 #290461Was really taken by Eldalil who won the 7f maiden at Newmarket today. She is by Singspiel yet had the speed to win this and she is a very good looking filly. Still in the Oaks, it may be worth keeping an eye on her.
April 24, 2010 at 15:08 #292218I too was impressed with Pipette …
I am also a fan of Pipette. Balding has his string in blinding form so hopefully this continues for a bit longer. I don’t think she’s a complete no-hoper in the guineas but may not be quick enough. I think the 40-1 still available for the Oaks is tempting. Anything firmer than good would worry me though
May 5, 2010 at 19:07 #294267Liked Aviate’s run at Ascot last week, think she has a strong chance.
May 5, 2010 at 21:32 #294288On breeding she has absolutely no chance of staying. Gertrude Bell’s win today told us absolutely nothing. Race turned into the 3f sprint that every race seems to turn into nowadays and she beat a load of crap in a blanket finish.
Timepiece out on Saturday, Ceilidh House, Eldalil and Dyna Waltz possible rivals.
The ante-post market on Betfair’s very misleading right now IMO. Rumoush I believe will get 10f at most. She looks like a miler to be honest. People will point towards Mawatheeq and the fact that his sire is Danzig, but I just think Rumoush will travel ominously well and find nothing.
Gile Na Greine will no doubt be totally ruined by Bolger. He’ll probably run her on mud in the Irish Guineas. If he doesn’t, will she get the trip? Galileo has not been a great source of stamina for fillies. Lush Lashes won the Yorkshire Oaks, yes, but off a farcical pace. Manning got off her after the Oaks and said ‘she didn’t stay, simple as that’. And look at all the speed horses – Cuis Ghaire never ran over further than a mile, Nightime won the Irish 1000. IMO she will not stay and might not even get there. Based on her Guineas running, I’d say she’s a miler. The other 5 horses around her were all speed horses.
Ceilidh House will be exposed on Saturday. She’s not good enough. Her dam has produced nothing noteworthy from 6 half-siblings.
Gertrude Bell, meh, Lillie Langtry has no chance of staying and isn’t good enough. Pollenator goes to France for the Prix de Diane. Principal Role looked absolutely horrible in the paddock on Sunday and surely isn’t good enough. Seta wasn’t even given an entry and was still in her coat on Sunday. Cabaret’s by Galileo and Radio Wave won’t be going. Kithonia not good enough.
This leaves a handful – Timepiece, who is ridiculously short, Pipette, who might not be running after a poor showing in the Guineas, and You’ll Be Mine.
The latter was entered for the Pretty Polly and I wonder if she won’t be running in the Musidora. Kingmambo sired an Oaks winner a couple of years ago and she’s now too big a price. I can easily forgive her run LTO, Kingmambo horses absolutely hate cut in the ground. Really not sure what Hibaayeb’s going to do but her run on Sunday really was abysmal.
I’ve got Pipette at huge prices, but You’ll Be Mine is now at a backable price given the opposition IMO. I’m expecting to see her run in the Musidora.
The other other dark horse I can see is Eldalil and Stoute’s record with Oaks fillies over the past 20 odd years is really quite shocking.
May 6, 2010 at 07:01 #294333Zarkava,
Rumoush won’t stay 12f, what evidence do you have for that? She certainly looked nothing like a miler on Sunday, was completely outpaced and stayed on to be placed 7th. And I think she has every possibility of staying based on Mawatheeq, go back to the grand damn you will get some decent 12f horses there

Anyway, as with everything else, only time will tell, but I think she will stay, although won’t want ground any worse than good.

May 6, 2010 at 09:12 #294360Really hope Modeyra has been supplemented, just so I at least get a run for my money, heard nothing whatsoever about the horse.
Have backed Akaderna, Revered at Hymsheet all at 100s or better on betfair. In an open race, seems some value.

Totally disagree. The slow pace of the race favoured the speed horses. I cannot see a single stayer in the first 9. For my money the first stayer finished 8 lengths behind Rumoush (Lady Darshaan). I mean look at all the Oaks hopes back there – Pollenator, Hibaayeb, Pipette. Even Seta was being thought of as a horse with stamina – perhaps not enough stamina for an Oaks, but still a horse with stamina.
And look at the Feilden. Again, a slow pace, yet she quickened quite nicely. I believe she has a lot of speed and will end up being a miler, possibly a 10f horse in time.
Timepiece and Ceilidh House confirmed for the Lingfield Oaks Trial.
May 6, 2010 at 12:08 #294391Just had another look through the entries to make sure I’ve missed nothing off. Aviate’s still in there with a shout, although I still really suspect her stamina, as does Cecil.
The other is Wedding March. Interesting to see if she gets a Musidora entry.
May 6, 2010 at 13:10 #294403Cecil’s just confirmed that Aviate will run in the Prix de Diane if she gets the Musidora trip. Wedding March is entered for the Musidora too.
May 6, 2010 at 20:49 #294463Zarakava,
Rumoush couldn’t quicken because she is not a miler, maybe she will only get 10f, but she is no miler in my book.
