Best horse won.
Profitable was bumped at the start but kept on without having the pace to get to the front.
Limato was simply in the wrong race and was very much the wrong price.
Typical Mark Johnston with a stonking winner finishing stonking last next time out. If this trainer were a PG Wodehouse character he would be Bingo.
Poor effort from Easton Angel and I thought Brando was a little below par as well. Washington DC ran a stinker, not within a light year of his run behind Take Cover last time. This was his 8th run of the season though.
Just before the stalls opened I phoned a bet for a reverse forecast on the favourite and second favourite. Don’t ask me how I manage these things but it’s just a skill I have of getting inspiration and seeing things normal mortals can’t manage.
I am now looking for a vacancy for race preview writer on a major racing outlet. Believe me, nobody can write previews the way I can. The only snag I foresee is they might not want the previews written after the race but I am hopeful.
Please email aftertiming.bullshitter@waltermitty.co.uk with job offers.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

August 19, 2016 at 17:24 #1260477Well done to all winners, especially Venture To Cognac
August 19, 2016 at 19:57 #1260502Superb performance by Mecca’s angel who was the winner a long way out. Good run by limato but the horse is better over six and another great run by take cover.
August 19, 2016 at 21:55 #1260521Struggling to explain the stinker that Easton Angel ran today.Perhaps a combination of the draw, ground and not being quite as good as I thought.Probably wouldn’t have beaten Mecca today even if at her best but, even so,ran like an absolute drain.

WD winners though, thought MA was hugely impressive!
August 19, 2016 at 23:40 #1260548Easton Angel was slowly in to stride again from a poor draw and the “front runner” on that side (Yalta) ran as if amiss. So nothing to bring a hold up filly in to the race. We can forget her run, other than the fact missing the break is becoming a habit. Take Take Cover (an old horse who’s unlikely to have improved) as a form horse and Easton Angel should’ve finished just behind or (because she didn’t get the best of runs at Goodwood) just ahead of him. Not good enough to beat the first two though.
