Missed a trick today with Sam’s Adventure. Would definitely have laid my stake back if I could, with him having went as low, but work got in the way, and I missed it. Watched the race back, and he was never really going before unseating.
Three selections Saturday, from Big Races, Soaring Glory and Fagan, while back in class, I’ll give another chance to Gwencily Berbas
Bundles Hurdle – Soaring Glory 11’s
1410 Warwick – Gwencily Berbas 9’s
Mandarin – Fagan 50’s EW 5pls/70’sJanuary 3, 2023 at 13:36 #1629488Entry stages starting, so might as well start putting mine up, though not sure much point, as the least I’ve had at this stage for over ten years.
Cashed out/laid off most of them, with the exception of the losers below.
National Hunt Chase
Ramillies 50’s EWGold Cup (Green)
Capodanno 200’s
Conflated 60’s
Noble Yeats 200’s (Laid 12’s)

The Nice Guy, Jungle Boogie x2, Built By Ballymore, Le MilosJanuary 7, 2023 at 10:29 #1629977Veterans Chase has been a real head scratcher.
At Final Decs, decided it was going to be Sir Ivan EW, and Ballyandy win. Sir Ivan however has had his price collapse, and no longer makes as much EW appeal.
Started on Ballyandy 11’s, however had another change of mind, and he’s now a saver.
Main selections now Chirico Vallis & Wishing and Hoping. Chirico, if this is the plan, was a crazy old price at last winning mark, and with a satisfactory run under his belt.
Wishing and Hoping is a regular of mine, and is usually free money in running, and at around 50’s, I’m actually very happy to have him too.
Midnight Midge should give me a good run for my money at Wincanton, while in the last at Sandown, I just couldn’t leave Band of Outlaws. He doesn’t look your typical Ben Haslam transfer, in that he still appeared to hold his form fairly well, while he doesn’t send too many this far south. There will obviously have been a definite issue with, hence the switch to Haslams, but at 40’s, he was an easy decision to make.
Loads of horses I really like today who are too short.
At Newcastle, be hoping for a good run from Since Day One, while it’s great to see O’Toole back, who I had big hopes for a couple of years back.
At Wincanton, I’m still keeping an eye on Celebre D’Allen, so hope he wins well, while if I have any earlier luck, I’d add Double Dating in the last at Cork.
1405 Wincanton – Midnight Midge @ 15-2
Veterans – Ballyandy 11’s
Veterans – Chirico Vallis 16’s
Veterans – Wishing and Hoping 50’s EW 6 Pls
1535 Sandown – Band of Outlaws 40’s EW 4plsJanuary 7, 2023 at 15:55 #1630069What a great bullseye in the Veterans’, VtC. Hope you left the money on. Superb.
January 8, 2023 at 09:57 #1630132Thanks mate, oh yeah, plenty left on, and just absolutely delighted with him.
Day started well enough too with Midnight Midge getting me stake back in running, but easy to see why Band of Outlaws is with Haslam, as he stopped almost immediately. One to keep track of.
Just one today, and though the market says he’s not running, had a wee interest with Inothewayurthinkin at Naas
Lawlors – Inothewayurthinkin 9’s
January 13, 2023 at 23:37 #1630850Only got three bet tomorrow, as per Big Races threads, but chance I’ll add Dingo Dollar too.
Really interested to see how The Goffer gets on at Warwick, and added him NRNB for a couple of races, while at Fairyhouse, I’m very interested to see how Splashing Out gets on.
Dan Moore – Battleoverdoyen 40’s EW4pl

January 26, 2023 at 15:41 #1632269Said a few swear words mate when I seen that still frame lol
Thanks mate, always a big betting race for me The Thyestes, so very pleased that he came in.
January 27, 2023 at 01:32 #1632324Delighted with Carefully Selected, and was a fair sized bet being The Thyestes. Expecting a busy time of it this weekend and next, so fair takes the pressure off.
Not too many bets this month, and that was first in nearly a fortnight, when Battleoverdoyen saved the day, with poor selections in The Classic Chase.
Went with Before Midnight at Doncaster today, as the 8’s was too big, while at crazy odds, he’s 100’s at the moment, I’ll add Fidux if Huntingdon beats the weather.
1515 Doncaster – Before Midnight 8’s
1535 Huntingdon – Fidux EWJanuary 27, 2023 at 23:47 #1632461Thought Before Midnight was slightly disappointing today, but at least money back at the end
Hopefully Cheltenham can be on, as it’s a great card. I’ve got that many potential bets though, I’m going to have to screw the nut a wee bit.
I’m really hopeful that Fire Dancer can follow up his Ludlow win here in the 1210. Really liked him last time and he’s surely miles ahead of that lenient looking mark. Sadly got to leave him out though as he’s too short for a potentially busy day.
Had to lay off Roi Mage The Glenfarclas, as couldn’t justify two. Left with Mortal though, and even though he’s drifting, I’m still definitely betting him.
Editeur Du Gite I think can surprise a few in The Clarence House. I took 11’s Antepost, but hoping at the very least he does enough to book his place in The Champion Chase. Had a small top up anyway.
I would just love to see Noble Yeats win The Cotswold. With my Gold Cup bet I don’t have to bet him, but I’d be over the moon if he can do this. Bet Frodon Antepost, and I honestly think he’s dangerous to write off. He’s another I’ve topped up on.
In The Cleeve, I bet Dashel Drasher Antepost, but the more I look, the more I think Paisley Park is the obvious winner. Hopefully Dashel can give me a run for my money.
In The Ballymore Novices, any other day I’d already have bet War Soldier and Doctor Brown Bear at the huge odds, but I have to hold on, and see how the Both horses I like, and I thought Doctor could maybe end up back here in the future. Maybe pushing it, unless he actually won well, but I genuinely thought of The Martin Pipe. War Soldier one of the most promising Sandy Thomson horses I’ve seen for a while.
Equally tough at Doncaster. Had a long look at Galice Macalo as EW alternative to Epatante, but just couldn’t justify it.
Since Day One, who was a decent money spinner for me last year, is finally a big enough price. This looks tough assignment, but at around 9’s, I’ll be betting him.
Splitting stakes in The Skybet, but not as big a betting race as I’d planned. Cloth Cap I like on his Aintree run, and had a slight top up at 11’s. Coopers Cross should give me a run for my money.
Last but not least is The Late Legend, who I think looks a big EW price back over fences.
First time this season I’ve had way too many selections, but things have been going well, and after Carefully Selected, pressure is off, and happy to go for it
Glenfarclas – Mortal EW 5pls
Clarence House – Editeur Du Gite 12’s EW
1335 Doncaster – Since Day One 9’s
Cotswold – Frodon 14’s
Cleeve – Dashel Drasher 9-2
Skybet – Cloth Cap 11’s
Skybet – Coopers Cross 20’s
1550 Doncaster – The Late Legend 33’s EW 4plsJanuary 28, 2023 at 23:30 #1632724Really enjoyed that today.
Always good to get the winner of The Skybet, especially at 20’s, but Editeur Du Gite winning at 14’s just topped it. Been betting him a couple of years now, and just a very underrated horse. Great finish and hopefully can do it in March.
Coopers Cross did it well, but not quite as much on the race as usual. Aye Right was only a small Antepost loser, but still a loser, so a few quid less on than usual, especially with the Cloth Cap bet. Didn’t stop me enjoying it though.
Mortal was my biggest bet of the day, and he got the EW Money at 33’s.
Happy with Dashel Drasher and Noble Yeats, while Since Day One, who just wasn’t good enough, also didn’t jump well. The Late Legend really disappointing all round.
Looking to play on tomorrow, but only a few jumping out.
The most important one is Ramillies. Need a big run from him, as although he’s in no way booked for NH Chase, a flop obviously wouldn’t be ideal. Also like Thedevilscoachman in that race, so I’ll leave it.
In The Limestone Lad, I’ll go with Darasso, but I nearly went with Cash Back.
At Fontwell, I’ve went with Echo Watt again. This is winnable, though less impressed with missing the 10’s.
Limestone Lad – Darasso
1450 Fontwell – Echo Watt 7’sFebruary 1, 2023 at 00:09 #1633185Hitting form at the right time Budd,especially for January.
Some cracking Ante-post selections to look forward to as well.
Two days of high class racing over the water, intrigued to see how that Irish Gold Cup pans out.
Early days I know, any thoughts on the Grand Annual yet?
Take It easy.
February 2, 2023 at 00:50 #1633282Good to see you popping in mate. Yeah, best January in a long time, and usually a grim month for me.
Took a stance on the handicaps for Cheltenham this year. The Kim Muir, Pertemps, and Martin Pipe are three of my favourite races of the week, not just handicaps, and unless something looks massively wrong, not looking at the others until Final Decs.
As for The Grand Annual, without a doubt my worst race of the year. Can’t remember a horse placed in it the last fifteen years, never mind winning it. Probably not the best person to ask then, but I will give the entries to look and see if Midnight River, Before Midnight, or Do Your Job are in there. I put up Allmankind as one for The Spring a couple of months back, but since then he’s getting mentioned a lot, and he might be over bet, so we’ll see. Any thoughts your side?
Having a wee Thursday bet with Moroder at Wincanton. Last run in The Mandarin hard to judge. Not sure if he needed it, or that handicapper has caught up with him. Either way, possibly overpriced, and happy to bet him at the odds

February 3, 2023 at 22:05 #1633565There’s a few crackers in there the last wee while Bob, well done.
February 4, 2023 at 14:42 #1633807Cheers Mark, unusual for me in January, but really enjoyed it. Have you got your messenger sorted, as wanted to fire one past you?
Surprised to see Nube missing from your TTF subs??
February 5, 2023 at 13:37 #1634016Racing was too busy yesterday, and bar Any Second Now, which I had a greedy bet on, I didn’t pursue a few I had been looking at.
Still a few losers though, regardless of size of bet.
Biggest mistake of the day was The Sandyford Chase. Started off well, having swerved Battleoverdoyen, deciding just to bet Grange Walk in running. I bet Grange Walk at much smaller odds than SP, only to see him fall about seven seconds later.
Best decision of day was swerving the Sandy Thomson runners. Can’t bet them all the time, and though I often bet them blind away from here, it’s get a bit silly just incessantly putting them up. The Ferry Master was the only one I bet, and he may be gone. As for Empire Steel, glad I avoided him again, and he’s still a very costly horse for followers.
Clutching at straws though, and that was genuinely all I got right.
Things not going any better today, and Braganza has already been well beaten.
Main interest today is The Bulmers. Going with The Goffer, and Ilikedwayurthinkin. The Goffer I’m hoping just places, as I want him in The Kim Muir, while Ilikedwayurthinkin could be a Grand National horse, as daft as that seems just now.
In The Liffey, I’m with All Those Years, and will be adding Charli Parcs or Man O Work, but genuinely don’t know what one at the moment.
