Blink and you missed it, a very reluctant debut for Raased.

Like he’d never seen a hurdle mate, but I’ll still keep a lookout.

Some decent racing tomorrow, and I’ve stuck with Mid Winster at York. She’s really paid her way for me this season, and the current 9’s seems fair.

Taking of paying their way, Herbiers is back out at Chepstow. Got a niggling feeling that he’ll improve as the year goes on, but I have to seriously consider him, though haven’t bet him yet. He just looked so progressive last year, and the 40’s for The Greatwood Hurdle is appealing too.

Also like that old rascal Geordie Des Champs at Chepstow, and he’s interesting at a big enough price too, but only bet at the moment is at York. If I could get double figures Herbiers, that would be nice.

Bang average from Mid Winster today, and even worse was that I bet Herbiers too. Least said the better.

Great days Racing Saturday, and the first time this season that I’m facing one of those days where’s there’s too many bets. It’s been slim pickings the last week. Five really bad runs out of five, but overall I’m really happy with how things have went, so I’ve got to go for it.

    Newmarket
Already gave my thoughts on The Cesarewitch thread, but slight change in that Great White Shark will be win only. If she or Micro Manage are in contention, I’ll get a chance to lay, so no EW with that pair.

    Chepstow
I’m reluctant after Herbiers today, but went with a couple.

I haven’t forgotten the run of The Mighty Don at Cheltenham in April, so I know off this mark he should be competitive. The opening 16’s was very fair. As mentioned a few times last year, I’ve high hopes for Proschema and he could prove better than a handicapper, and off 142 I had to be with him in The Silver Trophy.

    York
I’ve had to ditch Gulliver and Laugh A Minute in The Sprint Trophy, as I can’t justify anymore, so I’ll stick with Mr Lupton.

Earlier on the card I’ve went with Pythagoras. No EW, and I’ll lay if in contention. Hard to fancy on last run, but there’s ability there as we seen in The Dante.

Good to see my old pal Gumball out in the next, but I don’t think I can justify him just now.

Terrible day yesterday, so should sit it out, but might as well go out in style this week.

Very rushed, but going with this lot today…..

Not betting Suprise Package (missed the price) or January Jets, but very interested to see how they fare with a view to rest of season.

Much much better on Sunday, and delighted with Ontheropes, who was a fairly big bet. I’d mentioned him enough the last year, so just happy that he delivered in a big one. I doubt it’ll be his last.

Nice EW from Tralee Hills, and the Irish Cesarewitch was paid for by Great Bear in running. Fiveaftermidnight didn’t pay this time, but I liked the run, and she’ll surely pay her way this year.

I’d like a repeat today, but maybe pushing it at these prices.

Really like Georgeville, but he’s short enough at Leopardstown.

No joy for The Goldie outsiders, but having been able to top them up both at 250’s, not the biggest shock really. No real damage done with pair, even having topped up, as didn’t have to go mad.

Ainsdale showed me enough to stick by him last year, while my old pal Brando won’t be back. Great to see him bow out. I predicted this would be his swansong, I just wish the part where I predicted he would run a big race came true. He was the biggest bet of the day, and it never looked likely. Smashing horse to follow, though he’s not really happened for me, comfortably losing on him over the years. Cracking horse though.

The Balmoral was much better. I cashed out on Sir Busker before the off, and stick that on Saltonstall when he hit 100’s. I comfortably got that back in running, and along with Escobar, it ended up a decent race for me.

Wish I had bet Georgeville. I nearly did at 4’s, but couldn’t really justify it. He’s a 5yo, and difficult to know just what they do with him now, but if he’s back next year, I’ll be with him when he’s a price.

Losing day then, but mainly thanks to Brando, and happy enough with The Balmoral.

Quite happy to try again tomorrow.

I love a bet in The Durham National, but at 7-2 on Hewick, I’m not sure. My notebook horse Coach Carter is same price at Cork, and I’ll do a double maybe. Cork should tell me more about him, and should have a better idea about his credentials for later in the season.

Main fancy of the day is Butterfly Island. Big pot this, and despite being friendliness, I think that the trip is fine, in good hands, has shown me enough, and the blinkers might just do the trick.

After betting Not Now Zeb a couple of times, he ran his best race for a while last time without my cash, and I’m going back in.

Finally Kitty Galore. Follow the yard, and I like the way they’ve went with this one recently. Nice attitude through the week, and possibly overpriced here.

Decent EW from Not Now Zeb on Sunday at 20’s, and made it a better end to the day, with poor runs from the other pair.

Sat it out Friday at Cheltenham, but got a couple who appeal today.

Go Another One ran really well in The Kim Muir, and comes here three pounds lower in the 1420, despite being in good form. Looks a fair price.

It’s a busy day, so can’t really justify two in The Pertemps Qualifier, but definitely splitting the very promising Born Patriot, and that old rogue, Geordie Des Champs.

Used to bet El Astronaute a lot, but barely get him the last two years. Only bet him one of his seven races years, when he disappointed in The Symphony. He’ll be a fair price though today, and looks worth one more chance. I’ve never bet old stalwart Admirality before, but I can just see him bouncing back here after a lesser effort last time. Both of these win only as looking to get stake back in running.

At Galway, I’ll be interested to see if Glenquin Castle can keep improving. Too short for me though, as is old favourite Dingo Dollar. He should have a good season. I also like Halcyon Days at Kelso, but got enough already today, and I’d only add him if there’s some joy earlier.

Really impressed by Good Heavens last week, and already looks well worth a crack at this grade and trip.

Second poor Saturday in a row, but whereas last week The Balmoral put a better spin on things, complete washout this week, and none of them came to the recuse. Kansas City Chief winning didn’t improve my mood.

Couple of pointers. Born Patriot remains of interest, and Dingo Dollar should be spot on for next race, and I could see it being Newbury. Go Another One ran an interesting race, assuming The Kim Muir is the plan. Very impressed by Before Midnight.

Cracking days racing today, and after yesterday, I should take stock, and maybe hold back, but more than happy to put a line through that.

Given my thoughts on The Old Roan in Big Races, but despite my concerns, I will be adding Midnight Shadow.

Elsewhere on the card, I took the opening 20’s for Douglas Talking, while in The Veterans, Wishing and Hoping is an interesting one in this sphere.

A horse on my radar this year is Alfa Mix. Think he could be decent, but not decided whether to bet him at Galway, as for other races in mind. Make my mind up tomorrow. My mind should really be made up on Winter Escape, but after Kansas City Chief, I just can’t let him go.

    1417 Galway – Winter Escape 7’s
    1425 Aintree – Wishing and Hoping 9’s

What a difference a day made, and after the washout on Saturday, they all paid their way on Sunday.

Highlight was probably Wishing and Hoping at the 9’s, just the way he did it, but Allmankind was equally enjoyable in The Old Roan.

The Old Roan was a big race for me as I had a decent bet 25’s EW on Midnight Shadow, and delighted with him.

With Wandrin Star a Non Runner, I went with Alfa Mix, who was a nice EW at 16’s, while I got money back for Winter Escape in running, and a nice profit in running on Douglas Talking in running.

Been looking to have a few more since, but got till Thursday till I found one I liked enough to bet…….and then a few more.

7’s was just too big to ignore on Reserve Tank. Liked the idea of him in The Old Roan, and as I also like him for The Paddy Power, so had to chance him at Stratford.

In the 1530 at Clonmel, my old pal Thunderosa is back. Did me proud on a few occasions last year, and although I’ve got a feeling tomorrow won’t be the day for him, I can’t leave him alone around 8’s.

In the next, I’ll go with Kitty Galore at 16’s. She’s hard to catch right (like many from the yard), but I give her a real chance here under O’Keefe.

Rare trip to the all weather, and although both rank outsiders around 50’s, I could see Golden Hind and Seattle Rock outrunning their odds.

Thanks Ista, what a ride, toyed with them a bit there. Got hit with a whopping 45p R4 on my 26’s, so went back in again at 14’s, just before the off, so really happy with her.

Nothing to write home about the rest. Reserve Tank looks unlikely to fulfil his potential, but there’s other days for Thunderosa. The two on the AW could be bet 100’s + before the off, so that told its own story.

Absolutely delighted with Kitty, she didn’t half turn the day around, do back for more tomorrow.

Some nice ones out tomorrow, and at Uttoxeter, Holly looks an interesting one for Jonjo, but watching brief there, while one who’ll definitely be too short at Down Royal is Grand Paradis. I really like this horse, and I’ll throw a few quid his way for NH Chase at 40’s, and Festival Novices at 28’s, before the off. I hope he doesn’t flop, but it looks a tough old race.

Only two I’ll be betting tomorrow are Stansfield at Down Royal. Six places makes a difference and the fact he finished lame on last run over hurdles, puts a more positive spin to his odds. Herbiers is back at Wetherby. I threw a couple of quid his way for The Greatwood, but after that disaster at Chepstow, that was never on the cards. He’s worth another go, currently around 8’s.

Much better from Herbiers today, and I’ll surely be collecting from him soon. I don’t think I’ll be be collecting from Stansfield any time soon, as I’m unlikely to bet him again after that today.

Plenty on the go Saturday, and most covered in Big Races.

Was regretting not betting Solo Antepost at 8’s, especially when he opened at 4’s, but he’s drifting now, and I’d love to see him hit 8’s.

I can’t really justify three in The West Yorkshire Hurdle, but seriously considered laying off a bit of Run For Oscar, to let me have a free race, and bet Proschema as well, but I’ll take the profit, and stick with two.

I’ve topped up Regal Encore at Ascot, and I’ll probably go five places too.

Finally, an interesting runner at Down Royal is Vado Forte, but he’s up against Envoi Allen, and Coko Beach, who I’ve always liked, so maybe a non betting race.

    Bet 365 Hurdle – Master Tommytucker 6’s
Bet 365 Hurdle – Run For Oscar 40’s

Last couple of Saturdays were hard going, but like last Sunday, everything went right.

Profit on Solo to start off with. I got the 8’s I wanted and though initially gutted at him not holding on, I felt much better when I realised he wouldn’t have kept the race anyway.

The West Yorkshire Hurdle turned out well too. As well as the profit on Run For Oscar beforehand, I got money back on the Tommytucker in running too, so decent race all in. Master Tommytucker was ultimately disappointing, but Proschema remains a horse to be very interested in this season.

Not much more I can say about Frodon. He just keeps on delivering, and he was brilliant. Just delighted to see Galvin chase him home, and he must be Gold Cup bound now after that.

Last but not least was my old pal Regal Encore. My biggest bet of the season so far EW at 14’s, and also a few quid on top in running. Love him. It would be great to see him back here in December.

    Great racing on Sunday.

    Carlisle
I think Ahoy Senor should be hard to beat in The Colin Parker, but not confident enough to put my money where my mouth is at that price.

In the last, it’s hardly surprising that the Hughes mount on the McCain horse heads the market, but around 14’s, I think that stablemate Since Day One, is sneaking under the radar a little.

    Cork
As per big race thread, I really like the chances of Screaming Colours, and Spades Are Trumps.

In the opener, for all he’s maybe one for later, I think Crosshouse Boy looks way overpriced at 66’s. I like the way he progressed through the race last time, and I think he’s definitely worth betting.

    Lingfield
Echo Watt has been a good horse for me. Not fully convinced first time tomorrow, and it’s short enough, but he’s on a winning mark, and a nice price. That’s enough to pull me in.

    Naas
I only had a second look at The Birdcatcher after the thread was started in Big Races. I dug out Magniffico, and he looks worth changing around 12’s

In The November Handicap, I was hoping for 25’s for De Name Escapes Me, but I’m delighted to get 50’s. I’ll bet him again if he goes bigger. I’ll also bet Great Bear with a view to laying in running.

Been a decent week then, and a bit more relaxed than I’d usually be with this many selections.

Really can’t complain with that on Sunday, and a very good day, albeit without any of them getting a nose in front.

First the bad. Echo Watt was disappointing, but he’ll come again. I thought I had cracked it with Crosshouse Boy. 25’s in places in the morning, and blue a cross the board. Drifted back out though as the day went on, and though the writing was on the wall, I had a few extra quid at 240’s before the off. I thought he shaped well enough again, and should be winning at a lower level.

The rest went very well. The Cork National was a free race, with money comfortably back thanks to the ever reliable Screaming Colours, while I got a nice profit from Since Day One, who went very low in running.

Magniffico was a nice EW at 16’s in The Birdcatcher, and last but not least, old De Name Escapes Me did the business at 50’s. Smashing horse, and possibly the last time I’ll bet him. Had some good days from him.

Best weekend for a while that.

One bet today, and it’s my old pal Tralee Hills. He’s got plenty going for him tomorrow, and I’d expect him to not be too far away. He’s continually overpriced, and 22’s freely available. I’ll take that, but I’ll also top up later if he goes out again.

I put up The Ferry Master a good few times last year, and again, looking forward to following him this time around. Certainly not a betting prospect for me today, but I’d love to see him go for The Borders National, and this should be a nice prep, win or lose.

Good old Tralee Hills. Another big run at 22’s, and a clear second. He definitely bumped into one there, but got to be happy with that.

Mentioned a few of these in Antepost Update/Big Races, but plenty happening elsewhere. A little too many probably, but the last week has been good, so pressure off.

    Aintree
I’ve bet Remastered for The Ladbrokes Trophy, and will be betting him for Gold Cup too. Planned to bet him here, but missed the price, and I’ll only go with him here if Midnight Midge makes the frame. If this is a serious race for Time To Get Up, and he stands up, he should win. He’s off 144 against this field, and would carry them on a conventional track, but funny things obviously happen here, and it still doesn’t “feel” like the right race for him.

    Doncaster
Happy enough with Antepost picks, Ainsdale and Flyin Solo.

    Naas
Cracking, but tricky looking card. The big hurdle is a proper puzzle, but I can see The Big Lense running well under Jordan Gainford, and he must have a chance later on with Buttons and Bows.

    Wincanton
I’m always very careful about adding “Midnight” runners on here, but Bet365 are holding the 25’s for Midnight Midge, and for all he’s here off a break, he’s ran well fresh before.

I was going to leave The Badger Ales after Copperhead didn’t make it, but I’m going with Double Shuffle. It was his fall that hampered Any Second Now at Aintree, so he owes me. Big time. I think he could surprise here, without getting his head in front.

Great start yesterday, and even with the R4, very happy with the returns. Should have won too, but for getting the last two wrong.

As planned, went with Remastered in the next, and a few quid profit in running. Very happy with him, and fairly confident I can get a good run from him at Newbury.

Downhill from there though, and the main disappointment was Time To Get Up. Serious drift in the lead up, and beaten after a couple of fences. Brutal. Double Whammy for me, as it casts serious doubts on the rest of the season for him, and he was biggest bet of the day. Midnight Midge would have scraped me ahead, but the bet on TTGU was enough to put me in the red. Kicking myself, as I knew in my gut it wasn’t the right race for him. Having said that, he didn’t look right anyway.

Still, not a complete washout, so back for more today.

At Sandown, old Sub Lieutenant is back out, and I’m hoping handicapper has overreacted to his Cartmel run. If he just needed that, then I can see him outrunning his odds.

Kitty Galore back at Naas, and though on paper, up against it, they better not give her too much rope out front. I had to bet her at the odds. I think she’ll do ok.

After the success of Midge, I’m putting up another “Midnight”. Fiveaftermidnight back out, and I’ve taken the 33’s, though hoping to beat that. That’s too big a price. She’ll win this season, and hopefully it’ll be at this kind of price.

Really looking forward to seeing Pure Genius back out. Happy to see him over fences, but would have liked to see him starting off at two and a half with a view to my NH Chase bet. The 8’s is tempting, but makes sense to hold off.

Very happy with that on Sunday. I did say I was hoping to beat the 33’s on Fiveaftermidnight, and with her hitting 100’s, just brilliant.

I did say that she would definitely win this season, but that was maybe the day for her. Great run, and she was fair closing at the end too.

That’s two Midnights in a row that I’ve put up here that have paid nicely, and going for three in a row today, with Midnight Run at Fairyhouse.

Really promising in his younger days, and though he hasn’t fulfilled it, I think he can run a big race here. Cracking race this one, and it includes Alfa Mix, who’s a proper notebook horse for me this year. I thought he was excellent last time out, but the 16’s suggests today is not the day. I’m still tempted by that, with yard having the fav. I’m amazed that he isn’t in the betting for NH Chase, but I also see him as an ideal candidate for The Irish National, so whether I bet him or not, be watching him closely round here today.

After that on Sunday, might as well make a day of it. They’re both hard to recommend, but I can make a case for Father Jed, and Red Lemonade outrunning their odds. Both around 25’s just now.
