Things finally went really well today, much much better.

Cleonte was a poor start at Goodwood, but Maydanny was a nice lift, and a tidy return on Escobar in running too. Agonisingly close for the forecast. Stone of Destiny ran a cracker, sadly not enough to get money back, but money back and more for Euchen Glen too.

Galway finally clicked too with 25’s shots doing me proud, a decent EW on Litterale Ci at the 25’s, and same price Aramax and Born By The Sea (mentioned in Big Races) Again, so close with the forecast in The Blazers.

Really delighted with that today, and put me ahead on the week, but unfortunately I appear to be Bad, Good, Bad, Good……..so tomorrow should be carnage.

Already given thoughts on Stewards Cup in Big Races, and hoping for a good run for my money.

Embour looks a massive price on best form at Goodwood, while in the 1620 at Galway, I couldn’t believe the 14’s for Gee Rex.

    1355 Goodwood – Embour EW 7pls, 66’s EW6p
    Stewards – Chiefofchiefs 16’s, 14’s EW7p
    Stewards – Justanotherbottle 40’s EW7p
    1620 Galway – Gee Rex 14’s

Chiefofchiefs was a fairly hefty bet today, and enough for another winning day, but it was another “what if” with him, and he really should’ve won. Spencer’s got the gig though, and that’s the third time this year the wins got away from him. Hopefully get a win out of him before the years out, but I suppose I shouldn’t complain, as he’s rock solid, and continuing to pay his way.

Can’t lose on the week then, which is priority #1 at the start of the week, so I’ll have a go on the final day at Galway.

1415 He has to improve on debut, but I think Malayan is worth a bet around 11’s.

1445 I’m not convinced that this is the best trip for Lord McZie, but he was running on last time after meeting trouble, and I’ll take a chance.

1515 Sirjack Thomas was very impressive midweek, and I was surprised at the 7’s. No surprise to see a follow up.

1650 I’ve bet Powersbomb a few times over the years, but swerved him midweek, where he never featured. I’ll bet him EW Max Places, but have taken the early 33’s

1720 I’ve been putting up Melburnian since his big run at Newmarket a couple of years back, but he’s been frustrating. Stable seem in better form though, and 20’s looks fair

I’ll definitely be topping up should any of these go bigger.

    Galway
    1415 Malayan
    1445 Lord McZie EW 5pls
    1515 Sirjack Thomas 7’s
    1650 Powersbomb 33’s/EW 6pls
    1720 Melburnian 20’s EW 5pls

Very happy with Sundays bets. Malayan kicked it off, winning at 11’s, and three of the other four paid comfortably paid their way in running, with only Sirjack Thomas drawing a blank.

The usual approach is to keep going, but the racing has been poor all week, and not seen anything worth betting.

Lord McZie is back out tonight though, and after going so close on Sunday, he looks too big to ignore here, turned back out quickly. I’ll no bother with EW, and look to get stake back in running.

Strange rode for Lord McZie yesterday, and he should have been closer. No choice but to try again today.

All about Euchen Glen for me today though, and I’m hopeful. Interesting to see his entry for Champions Stakes as well.

Surrounding and Plinth very backable as well, though Surrounding does have to bounce back quickly.

    1407 Cork – Lord McZie 20’s
Platinum Stakes – Surrounding 40’s EW
Rose of Lancaster – Euchen Glen 8’s

Unusual for him, but Euchen Glen the only one who didn’t pay his way last Saturday. He’ll be back.

Three runs in a week, and a profit from Lord McZie on two of them. Subject to a serious plunge before the off, and I took the profit there and then. Interesting horse, though I might just cut and run with him, as he might be another “nearly” horse. I’ll no doubt stick with him though if he continues to be fancy prices.

Delighted with Surrounding at the 40’s, and though he was beat a mile from home, Plinth got the EW returns too.

Really decent day then, but no real opportunities during the week to play on.

Only one bet tomorrow so far, and that’s Justanotherbottle. I’ve taken 24’s on the exchanges, and happy with that, though I’ll definitely top up to the seven places, though he’s below 20’s with Sky and Hills.

An amazingly impressive winner. Your confidence in the horse was very well repaid by that performance. Brilliant. Saved Mrs Sungold’s day….she sends her appreciation! Tom

Thanks mate, that was a good one today, and glad the wife collected too.

Fairly hefty winner for me with being the only bet of the day, so that’s The Ebor Meeting comfortably paid for. That’s crucial, as it’s a graveyard meeting for me.

I’d like to play on tomorrow first though, and the only one standing is out is Trees Valley, who I’ve deserted her last three or four runs. Definitely not as good over fences, and I’d rather bet her in a handicap, but she’s got ability, and she appeals EW. I’ve thrown a couple of pounds at the 28’s, but main bet will be EW

Very frustrating with Trees Valley, missing my lay by a whisker. Still, well beaten in the end, and definitely one for Handicaps.

As mentioned, The Ebor Meeting is one where I normally don’t do too well, but I do enjoy it.

The opener is a cracker, and while I’m drawn to Ornate and Snazzy Jazzy, I’ve went with old El Astronaute. Not dissimilar to Justanotherbottle, in that he’s hard to predict, but very good on a going day. Think he could well outrun his odds in a race he’s won before.

I was very tempted Antepost by Alcohol Free at 9’s for The Juddmonte, and I wish I had taken it. Around 6’s at the moment, I’m not sure. I’ll make my mind up later, but definitely would bet her if I had any luck with El Astronaute.

Same would apply to Mid Winster and Mercurial later on the card, and I would need some earlier joy to back them.

I’m hoping for some joy in the Skybet Handicap, where I’ll be double handed. Island Brave is a consistent sort, and with Oisin Murphy booked, he looks a great EW Bet. I’ll bet my old pal as well, Nicholas T. I’ll go win only with him, and hope for a lay in running.

    Symphony – El Astronaute 20’s EW 7Pls
Skybet – Island Brave EW 6pls
    Skybet – Nicholas T

Scraped ahead today thanks to Island Brave, but he just hung on for fifth, and it was a typical day for me at the meeting.

Not much doing tomorrow again, and I’ll stick to The Clipper Logistics. Escobar is high enough, but he’s a dependable sort, and I’ll persevere with him. I still think Pythagoras has a big race in him, off the back of his run behind Wirko, and also in The Dante.

I’ve bet them both win at the moment, but will cover one of them to the seven places, and swaying towards Pythagoras at the moment.

Any luck with that pair, and I’d be considering Agincourt later on the card, and Saltonstall at Killarney.

Havent had too much on this flat season, but im on escobar for a decent bet e/w, if he runs to that mark today he will win, poor race overall

Good luck with him VTC! I hope your right :yahoo:

Hey Ham, good to hear from you, and well done today.

Yeah, he’s a cracking sort, and after Pythagoras being withdrawn, he was my only bet of the day, and I topped up EW myself. Very happy with him again, and I’d love to see him have another crack at The Balmoral.

Ok, there’s maybe not a lot of bets flying about, but a rare profitable Ebor Meeting so far lol. Makes a change. For the best though, and although I was kicking myself for not betting Agincourt (would have been a smashing lay in running), other results wouldn’t have been too kind, and I’m happy to remain selective here.

With that in mind, I’ll sit tomorrow out. I’ll make up for it on Saturday hopefully.

There is one horse I’m very interested in tomorrow, with a view to the winter, and it’s Golden Spread, who I think could have a couple of decent races in him. Given a quiet enough time at Galway, and no surprise if more to come.

I’ll also be hoping to see more promise from Suprise Package.

Very wise decision to have a bet free day, as it would have been grim.

On to Saturday, and already given my thoughts in Big Races for The Ebor. Mt Leinster will be a hard one to take, but I’ll take it on the chin, as I really have missed the price. Euchen Glen, and Humanitarian the main bets, but wouldn’t complain with Eagles By Day.

The only other one I’m looking at on the card is Annandale. Huge price, and he looks one for laying in running.

Elsewhere I’ll be with Blaze A Trail at Newton Abbot, who showed enough last year, and off a reasonable mark for new yard here, while at The Curragh, I’ll stick with Melburnian, who paid his way last time.

    1425 York – Annandale
Ebor – Euchen Glen EW 8pls
    Ebor – Humanitarian 16’s
    Ebor – Eagles By Day
    1605 Newton Abbot – Blaze A Trail 12’s

The run of good Saturdays certainly came to at the weekend, but hopefully can get back on track today at Tipperary.

I’ve followed Surrounding for a couple of years now, and she’s really paid her way. Yes, there’s always a blip or two, but generally sticking to betting her at bigger odds has paid it’s way, not least at the 40’s last time. Was delighted with that run after a couple of lesser efforts, and see no reason to desert her in The Fairy Bridge Stakes.

In The Abergwaun Stakes, I think the price of Dancin Inthestreet is a bit mad. Real eyecatcher last year, and though she’s not quite went on, her last run was very good after blowing the start, and I just couldn’t let the 28’s go.

I’d be surprised if I can beat these odds, but I wouldn’t be shy in topping up, as I think these odds are fairly generous.

Future Romance, who I put up last season, and who’s looked very good so far, needs three to come out in the last, but I’d like another look at her. Too short to back if she did make it.

Another decent run from Surrounding, and having topped up as planned, was happy to get a boost at the 33’s.

Dancin Inthestreet missed the break again, and if they can sort that out, a big priced winner waiting to happen.

Small aftertime here, but a bonus win from Future Romance. I bet her even before the Surrounding winnings, after she hit 8’s on the exchange. I really like her, and hopefully more to come, after that well fought win.

Definitely playing on tomorrow, and I’m sticking with Saltonstall again in The Irish Cambridgeshire. The draw is a huge concern, but with Paddy Power going seven places, he’ll do for me, for all he’ll need some luck.

I didn’t follow up Grammata last time, having got a decent return the time before, but reunited with 7lb claimer Izzy Clifton, she’s not without a chance back here.

As with Thursdays runners, I’ll top up if I see dramatically bigger odds, but quite happy with these at the moment.

    1815 Curragh – Grammata 12’s
Irish Cambridgeshire – Saltonstall 30’s EW 7 Places

Grammata was very poor, and I’d be surprised if I bet her again.

Much better from good old Saltonstall though, and he continues to run well, and one of those types I enjoy following. Very happy with that.

Three old favourites out today, Chiefofchiefs, Escobar, and Justanotherbottle.

Escobar wins rarely, but he also rarely runs a bad race, and he more often than not pays his way. He’s difficult to leave out.

Chiefofchiefs in a similar vein. Really paying his way again this year, without winning, and drifting to a very nice EW price. Interested to see how Hayley Turner gets on with him, as Spencer hasn’t been a good fit for him at all. I don’t think he’ll win at Ayr if he lands this, but I’ve no option but to bet him now for Ayr as well.

Justanotherbottle was dynamite a fortnight ago, and hoping the headgear, coupled with a good draw sees another big run. No need to bet EW, as if he’s in firing line, I’ll get stake back. Can’t see him making the frame from off the pace here. Think he’s a big player here.

In The Celebration Mile, it’s good to see Benbatl back, but at a price, and after a return to form last week, Duke of Hazzard appeals in a race he’s won before. Loves it here, and gets his ground.

Looked at a couple of 2yo’s, B United and Reel Rosie, but would need some earlier luck to bet them.

    1425 Goodwood – Escobar 15-2
    Hopeful Stakes – Chiefofchiefs EW
    Beverley Bullet – Justanotherbottle 14’s
Celebration Mile – Duke of Hazzard

Justanotherbottle made a huge difference last week. Biggest bet by some way, and thankfully got it back. Another big run.

Excellent again from Escobar, and he’s just rock solid. Sadly nothing back for him. The other two were bitterly disappointing. (Edit) Day topped off though by Reel Rosie at 9’s, who was only bet with Justanotherbottle money. Interesting horse.

Only one bet tomorrow, and I’ve got to take another chance with Nicholas T. Good chance we’ll see a different horse tomorrow, and I think he’ll run well. On the nose, with a view to getting stakes back.

Smashing stuff from Nicholas again, and not only comfortably getting stakes back, but I had a top up at the 28’s EW, and very happy, if not slightly frustrating that he didn’t get up.

At Doncaster today, I thought Statement was a bit big at 14’s, coming back in trip, and if recapturing that spring form, I’d hope to get a run for my money.

At Cork, I can see Not Now Zeb outrunning his odds. No real excuses last few runs, but off a break, and getting a bit of help from the handicapper, he’s a definite EW Bet. Took the BOG anyway, but if he went out, I’d be tempted again.

    Sceptre – Statement 14’s
    1735 Cork – Not Now Zeb 25’s EW 4pls
