On to Day Three, and got eyes everywhere.
The opener is tough, and despite an abject run by stablemate The Mouse Doctor yesterday, I’ll have a wee EW on Golden Spear. He’ll hopefully be a big price.
I’m surprised at the 25’s for Kildoderry in the 1615, and I think he’s got enough in the book to make the six. Rider taking seven off is a big help.
I’ve not ruled out Ballyboker Bridge, but happy with 11’s for course specialist Blue Templar. I thought he’d be vying for favouritism.
In The Stayers I’m already with Heaven Help Us Antepost, but I’ll also be adding The Storyteller.
In the 1800, I’m hopeful of a big run from Pure Genius. 11’s was a big price, and I’m hoping this is his last run over hurdles, having bet him for NH Chase. I’m also keen on the rejuvenated Dallas Des Pictons, and happy to have him onside EW.
I’m hoping to see a big run from another Antepost pick, Janidil, in The Ryanair Novices.
1540 – Golden Spear EW 7pls
1615 – Kildoderry 25’s EW 6pls
1650 – Blue Templar 11’s
1725 – Heaven Help us 33’s EW
1725 – The Storyteller
1800 – Dallas Des Pictons 22’s EW 7pls
1800 – Pure Genius 11’s
1835 – Janidil 10’sApril 29, 2021 at 11:57 #1538521Well done yesterday Bob, some nice winners.
It was the opposite for me, but I was really happy with CDO, and hopeful now with my King George bet on him
Good luck today
April 29, 2021 at 15:27 #1538543Cheers Mark, yeah, nice bet you have now with Clan Des Obeaux, got to be confident with that one.
Best of luck today
April 29, 2021 at 20:43 #1538647That was a tougher day than yesterday, but cracking on.
Kildoderry was a bigger EW, so happy with him, while Blue Templar was a decent winner in running after the chaos mid race.
In the opener, I’ll go with Enniskillen, but I’ll be betting him to lay in running. Hoping for a big Exchange Price.
In the 1615, I’m with the Meade pair, School Boy Hours and Ificudiwud. I’ve tracked SBH all year, and this looks a good opportunity at a track he’s ran well at before, while Ificudiwud is a big price with Gainford up. I also like January Jets in this race, but not a race to go three handed. Tracking him though, and definitely one for next year.
In The Champion Hurdle, not really my type of bet, but 10’s EW looks fair for Sharjah.
It’s possible that Auvergnat has his best days behind him, but there’s maybe an outside chance he’s been saved for this, and at around 28’s, I’ll happily chance him.
I liked the look of Dreamsrmadeofthis last time, and at around 9’s, I’ll chance her to progress again.
In the Bumper, I like Aintree Gin at a huge price. Has had some big entries, and the 66’s appeals, but haven’t decided on her.
1540 – Enniskillen
1615 – Ificudiwud 20’s EW 5pls
1615 – School Boy Hours 10’s
1725 – Sharjah 10’s EW
1835 – Auvergnat EW 4pls
1905 – DreamsrmadeofthisApril 30, 2021 at 23:28 #1538853Tough going again today, with Sharjah my only return. Quite happy with him as he was biggest bet of the day, and on a day where there were no other returns, it was very welcome, and made a nice dent in the losses.
The other bigger bets were poor Ificudiwud, and School Boy Hours. Ificudiwud was horrible to watch, and I hope it was quick for him. School Boy Hours is miles short of what I thought he’d be, but I’ve a big problem with him now, as I’ll be scared to miss him.
May 1, 2021 at 00:05 #1538868Final day of my season today, and looking go out with a bang. Well it hopefully won’t be as bad as Friday.
Probably too many selections Saturday, but it’s been a very good season for me, so I might as well go for it.
Goodwood
She let me down a wee bit later in the year, but Agincourt was one of the early highlights at Royal Ascot, and I’m happy to give her a chance in The Conqueror Fillies. Hopefully the wind surgery will help.Newmarket
Very unusual for me to have a long range one in The 2000 Guineas, and even more unusual for him to get there at the head of the market, but that’s where I am with Wembley. Delighted with the 50’s, and I hope Ryan Moore has picked the right one. I laid off during the week when he went way low, so a small profit before the race is run was a wee bonus. I’d love to get this one, as not my kind of bet at all.Punchestown
It’s been an incredible week, if not tough going, but what a card for the final day.I said on the first post of the Punchestown thread that I was hoping Regal Encore would turn up, but I wasn’t confident. Was so happy when I seen him in the entries, and I was refreshing on Oddschecker all afternoon looking for the early show. He opened 16’s, and I took a good swing at it. I had decided if he did turn up, he’d be one of my biggest bets of the season. I was hoping for 10’s, but I couldn’t believe the 16’s. I will go bananas if he wins.
Like Regal Encore, Neverushacon is a proper old favourite. He’s too short at the moment, but he’ll certainly be permed in, and I’d love him to hit 4’s. He was much better last time, and he must go very close.
The 1630 is a cracker as well, and for all they hold no secrets, I’m not deserting Ten Ten and Scoir Mear. Ten Ten hasn’t quite achieved what I thought he would, but he’s ran well enough, and I can’t desert him at 11’s. Scoir Mear has had a great year, and the current 14’s is too big, though I’m holding off for bigger.
In the 1740, I’ll be with Irregularheartbeat, who impressed me last time, but after the 1705, I’ll be needing a lie down.
Quite simply, that 1705 is the toughest race I’ve seen this season, though it usually is most years.
There’s twenty four runners, and I have seventeen of them having a live chance. It’s insane how good this race is.
Mullins takes this race very seriously, and it’s hard to look away from his, but I’m trying my hardest.
I’ve came down on Power of Pause and Sayo of his, while On Eagles Wings is also high on the shortlist. I’m betting him along with De Name Escapes me. I’ll bet one of the Mullins pair, and go three handed.
Uttoxeter
Relentless Dreamer paid his way for me in The Topham, while Some Day Soon could be well suited by the spring groound, though the layoff is an obvious concern. I’ll make my mind up on him tomorrow, but already bet Relentless Dreamer.Conqueror – Agincourt
Colm Quinn BMW Chase – Regal Encore 16’s
1505 Uttoxeter – Relentless Dreamer 12’s
2000 Guineas – Wembley 50’s EW

May 1, 2021 at 16:41 #1539186Ouch. Come on VtC we’ll give him a round of applause anyway. Did what he loves best, bossed the race. Well done Brian and the Bull.
Edit- well done!! He actually looked like an old reliable jumper today
May 1, 2021 at 16:48 #1539191Ooft, not my style as you Grass, and wouldn’t normally do this, but had a very late saver. I got my Thyestes cash back, and the big lump got me the forecast. He’s forgiven lol

Oh yes right enough! Well done!!
May 2, 2021 at 00:57 #1539340Cheers Grass.
End of another season then, and good to sign off with a decent day today, from Brahma Bull, Ten Ten, and Some Day Soon who I added late on.
Unfortunately I also added Neverushacon late on as well, and he added to the losers.
Really enjoyable week at Punchestown, usual few winners, and the usual “what was I thinking” bets.
Been a very decent season for me, particularly up to January, and it was the best start to a season I ever had. One of my best seasons all in, but there’s no question that there were more in the first half of the season, and laying in running was vital in the second half more than once.
I’ve already discussed tweaking Antepost, and that’s definitely what I’ll be looking at next season. Number of selections is something else I’ll look at.
Royal Ascot was brilliant, and there weren’t many bigger winners for me than Chiefofchiefs.
The highlights over the season were…..
Dalton Highway
Western Boy
Mr Carpenter
Euchen Glen
Frodon
Seeyouatmidnight
Stones and Roses
Fiveaftermidnight
Livelovelaugh
Vintage Clouds
Suprise PackageIt was great to see Seeyouatmidnight bow out in one piece, and I’m waiting to see the same news on Regal Encore.
Euchen Glen was probably my horse of the season, but Mr Carpenter not far behind.
I’d be here for a while picking out the losers, but Brahma Bull was biggest loser, with Frodon (Ryanair), not far behind.
Lowlights by a country mile were the losses of Mohaayed and The Long Mile, while it was sad to see Cause of Causes die a couple of weeks back.
Looking forward to a break now, I’ll still be chipping away, but good to take a break from putting them up on here.
Not too many I’m singling out for the coming weeks, but Trees Valley should be winning a race, while a horse I mentioned early in the thread, Future Romance, has an entry at Gowran Park on Tuesday, and could be an interesting one, and also interesting if Runrized from the Mullins yard has a summer campaign.
May 2, 2021 at 11:01 #1539389His two group 3 wins in a row were brilliant
May 2, 2021 at 17:24 #1539514Yeah Ista, he was a total star. I’d love him to repeat it this year, but I can’t begrudge him a quiet year.
May 4, 2021 at 18:27 #1539704You know I’ve had my best Punchestown ever. Sadly marred by the fatalities. I’m still away most of the time and watching Adam Nicol exercise his horses on the beach. Wise Eagle is becoming a bit of a superstar. I think Seahouses will have to be renamed Seahouses, the home of Wise Eagle!
May 5, 2021 at 13:55 #1539766Hope you are well Moe.
Yeah, was some week, but no getting away from it, too many fatalities.
Hopefully the rise of Wise Eagle continues, certainly doing them proud.
June 14, 2021 at 23:21 #1545472All your pals in the Ascot comp I see, you sentimental devil. Don’t ever start a horse retirement home when you win the Euromillions or you’ll have burned through all the cash in one horse generation when they all come and live with you
