HIGHLAND HUNTER Makes his handicap debut in the 4.15 at Haydock. A mark of 128 doesn’t look harsh for o e showing bags of potential and the 3 mike trip should suit well.
IDEE DE GARDE goes in the 2.05, the Rossington Main Hurdle. His Newcastle firm looks very sound and he looks good value here against more heralded opponents.
BETTER GETALONG runs in the 2.25 at Ascot. I suspect there remains a bit of improvement and I trust his trainer’s placemebt skills. With the run behind him he can turn form with Ballymoy.January 20, 2019 at 17:46 #1393121No winners yesterday though Highland Hunter ran creditably enough on handicap debut in finishing third.
OFF THE HOOK scored for the list at Ayr today (5/2), winning narrowly in a decent sized field. She only did what she needed to do and you rather get the impression she’s a bit better than she lets on. I think this one will win more races for Kinneston going forward.
Whoshotthesheriff did the Dali Mail form line a bit of good with a decent second at Navan yesterday.
March 9, 2019 at 17:59 #1400411A good win today from CRIXUS’S ESCAPE at 16/1 in a decent contest at Ayr. Like a few on the list this one has probably been in need of the softer ground.
SAINT LEO had a fair chance when coming down and he winning chance is probably only delayed. TRESHNISH came up short in the same race and is probably held by the handicapper now.
The continuing good ground hasn’t helped an awful lot with a number of horses absent, presumably requiring more testing conditions. Rain coming in the next few days will presumably help and hopefully we will have few runners as we get into spring.
Cheltenham wise TESTIFY is entered twice but has struggled this season and the big fields won’t suit. HIGHLAND HUNTER is entered in the Albert Bartlett, conditions will suit but needs to improve. OFF THE HOOK may just surprise a few if taking her chance in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
March 9, 2019 at 23:58 #1400442Well done today Rob, though I don’t really mean that, as I bet Seemorelights FFS
March 16, 2019 at 13:06 #1402522Running today:
DALI MAIL runs in a handicap at Newcastle today and doesn’t look to have too tough a starting mark.
And from this week:
TESTIFY isn’t cutting it at the moment. I do wonder if it’s worth Donald McCain seeking out less competitive races at northern courses for this one.
BIG BAD DREAM was a fair third at Hexham, but desperately requires a step up in trip. Worth watching out for if aimed at a novice staying handicap hurdle as I’m sure there is more to come.
December 9, 2019 at 19:01 #1476985Rob, were you at Kelso?
What did you think of Elf De Re?
