So another Champion’s Day and UK record daily prize money comes and goes and quite frankly was nothing out of the norm. Yes there were some big races in there, but was a end of year event with a number of below par performances because many ‘had already done’ their racing during the season.
I find it an odd day, the champions were those Guineas, Derbies, Oaks, Leger’s, Arc winners and entries through the season.
Champion’s day needs something special, something different, something very big which attracts everyone down to the level who just have a flutter on the national each year. It needs a lot more interest.
I think now something like a sweepstake on the Balmoral handicap to kick off a weekly sweepstake has never been so important.
We know we will be paying for the pandemic for a number of years to come and tax will feature and play a big part of that.
We also know there will be fair chunk of money going to the NHS.On helping funding for the NHS, I believe a weekly sweepstake will go quite someway in helping this country’s burden. With proper marketing and exposure I expect the money raised would be far in excess of the £1.5 billion p.a. mentioned in the title of this thread.
