Add a few million to that, Ginge. Not all on this forum of course

I am not mad keen on it myself.
Still, I always take the positives, and if it means anti-vaxxers can’t go racing, that’s worth cracking a rare smile over.
There’s always a silver lining….

No, I do not like Britain becoming a “Show Us Your Papers” country where your freedom is determined by your health status and the whim of a government minister.
I am funny like that…
December 8, 2021 at 21:34 #1571339From that Racing Post link, it states 568 cases in the country so far. That’s 568 out of a population of 70 million.
But the Fat Controller needs something to get his other problems off the front pages, so we get this massive over reaction to a minor outbreak of a mild version of Covid.
The truly insane aspect of all this, is that the government is still taking advice from Ferguson, a man that has been wrong about everything since he left school.

Very well said CAS and AP
December 9, 2021 at 15:18 #1571488Nice one Ap. Could not have expressed it better
Racing will suffer BIG TIME with attendances because of this
Johnson is swinging the dead cat
Poor mr Winstanley and mr Davies do not see the bigger picture
December 9, 2021 at 15:24 #1571490Speaking as somebody who had the vaccines and the covid after the vaccines I’ll say this much… evidently doesn’t stop you catching covid and I know for a fact i gave it to my wife and kids. Mild symptoms thankfully which i do credit the vaccine for but proof of vaccine means little in the context of this pandemic in terms of stopping the spread.
December 9, 2021 at 15:27 #1571491The vaccine isn’t supposed to stop the spread of the virus; it’s to minimise the effects if you are unfortunate enough to contract it.
Masks stop the spread, as does staying at home.
December 9, 2021 at 15:38 #1571495Mr Glad
Just to point out one fact
Germany had mask mandates for ages, indeed in Bavaria they supplied surgical masks free
Made nodifference. Covid is rampant there
Apart from that good postDecember 9, 2021 at 15:39 #1571497Precisely my point about the vaccine certificates being a bit pointless. I’m not too fussed who I share a racecourse with but if I was that way inclined which others are entitled to be, not judging people on that to be crystal clear, I’d prefer the negative test on the day option provided people are being honest there which they might not be.
December 9, 2021 at 17:08 #1571511“Masks stop the spread, as does staying at home.”
Most of the masks you see make very little difference and are useless if people are constantly touching them and not washing their hands.
Not everyone has the option of working from home. The country would cease to function if they did.
I wonder what the reaction of some of the lockdown cheerleaders in the media would be if all the delivery drivers and bin men decided they would rather be at home because they did not feel safe.
December 9, 2021 at 19:23 #1571526I’ve tended not to have extreme views either way on this but there should be genuine analysis of whether restrictions actually worked and what ricky and cork say is largely right
No one has mentioned that the extremity of the lockdowns in Italy and France simply failed but the bbc and the press (on fat guaranteed salaries) will drone on and on about why the government wasn’t welding doors and summarily executing those caught having a picnic
December 13, 2021 at 09:14 #1572189Just caught up with “Talking Points” from yesterday’s “Luck on Sunday”.
On the subject of Covid passes, Luck and Maddy from the “Racing Post” agreed it was no big deal. They could not even fill up the two minutes and agreed to just move on to the next subject.
The move to a “Show Us Your Papers” country and the obvious fact that vaccine passports are ineffective did not appear to concern them at all. Barely worth a minute of their time.
At least Luck did object to Chelmsford City asking for photo ID.
December 13, 2021 at 09:42 #1572192Media constant day after day Omicron, keeping the trial of the century out of the media, yes the Maxwell trial. No different to the first lockdowns media full of it ignoring the US presidential election from the front pages.
Boris, you can shove your Booster up your ****.
