AndrewSeptember 27, 2007 at 11:07 #116711Andrew, you could try contacting the yards.
I’m not saying all will reply, but when I have tried the response has been very good.
Trainers seem to be quite pleased that you are interested in their horses.

September 27, 2007 at 11:54 #116719Clopf – Champion Hurdle
Aran Concerto/Nicanor – chasing (probably one for the Arkle & 1 for the SA)
Hardy Eustace – World Hurdle
Ouninpohja – chasingSeptember 27, 2007 at 12:31 #116730Surely Ouninpohja’s personal target for 2007-8 is to keep on dogging it as furiously as ever, according to himself at least?

September 27, 2007 at 12:38 #116733has Ashley Brook recovered from that awful fall that he took at Cheltenham[?] I remember how upset we all were at the time, it completely ruined the race for us…
September 27, 2007 at 12:47 #116737I’ve not heard a thing on Ashley Brook, to be honest, though the fact his status hasn’t been changed to "died as a 9yo" on his Racing Post database entry since then offers encouragement.
I’m not sure we’ve got anyone on here who has Kevin Bishop’s ear, unless they’d like to step forward?

September 27, 2007 at 13:37 #116742Pretty sure Ashleybrook is still with is. He certainly got up straight away at Cheltenham.
Osana is going to win the Arkle by the way.
September 27, 2007 at 14:50 #116745I was at a pre-Cheltenham festival preview evening in March and a NH trainer (who I won’t name)…suggested that Black Jack Ketchum was being seriously inconvenienced by a muscle wasting problem.
Now I don’t want this to degenerate into a Betfair-forum style rumour factory, but has anyone else heard anything similar ?
It’s a massive shame as my understanding is that this sort of injury can’t really be cured.
September 27, 2007 at 15:47 #116748BSB,
With March being over 6 months ago now, I would have guessed that it was just a rumour and nothing else.
I am pretty sure that if BJK had an ‘incurable’ injury, then it would have came to light by now. Also, on one of McCoy’s recent appearances of ‘Geton’ on ATR, he suggested that he was very much looking forward to the horse coming back this season as a real Championship contender.
But then again, it wouldn’t be the first time that a jockey has put the viewers away

September 27, 2007 at 15:48 #116749I was also at a Cheltenham preview, and we were told that AP had said that Black Sam wasn’t likely to race at Cheltenham [for 2007 I mean] but no reason was given,,,,shame if he has got a problem because he was such an exciting little horse. Remember the Ashleybrook race more clearly now, he did get up and carry on running but channel 4 didn’t say that, so we all thought he was still down ,and because they’d interviewed his owner just before the race it really upset us. Hopefully going to the Midlands nh preview soonish with notebook at the ready because it was excellent last year, and combining that with their Cheltenham preview had a very successful Cheltenham [makes a change]. Interested to see what is intended for Neptune Collonges because we were told last year that he would be aimed at the National in 2008, but that seems unlikely now, bit of a dark horse methinks [in a light horse sort of way]…..can’t wait for the jumping to start proper!! mo
