If Truss is woeful as PM ( and she will be ) then we just need to suffer her for 2 years , as I said before I get a mid 90s vib here , if Starmer can hold Labour together and get a viable cabinet together then Labour are in a strong position

The fella who lists “twat” and “prat” prominently in his vocabulary has self-excluded, GT.

    No victim he.

Btw it’s self righteous, same as it’s Angela Rayner with an E – if you’re going to write nonsense, at least make it grammatically-correct nonsense.

    Thanks in advance.

It’s currently 1.52 Truss, 2.94 Sunak ahead of tonight’s broadcast.

For someone who wants me to be “”grammatically correct”, you should look up what “hounded out” truly means. Someone can be “hounded out” by people pressurising until – for their own sanity – he / she self excludes.

    Yep, here we go again.
You choose who needs to be “grammatically correct” by who’s right or left of centre.
Doesn’t bother me that HDLG gets his “there”s mixed up.
But if I pointed that out you’d be going OTT at me.
One rule for you and another rule for others – again.

Well, I know what “hounded out” doesn’t mean – it doesn’t mean being verbally abusive to others, getting called out for it and not liking that.

If you want to condone people being verbally abusive, that’s up to you.

In more thread-relevant news, 10,000 Tory Party Members have now signed a petition calling for Boris Johnson’s name to be added to the ballot paper.

“10,000 Tory Party Members have now signed a petition calling for Boris Johnson’s name to be added to the ballot paper.”

Despite the election rules explicitly stating that the current leader cannot stand.

Further evidence of a schism between the Parliamentary Party and the grass roots?

At least 10,000 Party Members think Tory MPs were wrong to turn on Johnson, Sunak is the most popular choice as replacement among MPs, but current Members’ polls give it to Truss – tense times in the Conservative Party.

Currently watching todays Good Morning Britain on catchup. I’m not a morning person but Mike ( morning person) told me to watch it as it was so good he watched it twice. Edwina Curry, Ed Balls, Simon Calder and Anna Soubry doing battle. Lots of references to John Major. Edwina Curry no different to the one I met: boasting about the amazing tax raising party she gave yesterday. Anna Soubry wonderful as usual ( I know I’m biased).

“Edwina Curry no different to the one I met”

I’m not being outdone on the name dropping!

I used to work with Simon Calder on The Independent.

Nice guy, though totally “not of this world,” like so many of them at The Indy who lived in a Islington-esque bubble that was all their own!

Bet you never wanted to punch Simon though! I think I deserve a medal for watching Edwina given that I feel obliged to watch everything political at the time. She was my MP for years.Such a contrast between the two ex Conservative MP’s.

Simon, like Andrew Marr and so many of them, was this really pleasant, if slightly detached and eccentric, Oxbridge type who was a consummate expert on his subject, but probably wouldn’t know how to change a light bulb or the price of a pint of milk.

It was comfortably the worst-paid job I ever had in the media, but also comfortably the most pleasant working environment.

So true, Gladders, even at grass roots level, the pragmatic survival instinct is ultimately strong.

Conservative members will probably not be getting their voting papers as early as they think.

Posties helping Sunak by going on strike?

Anyone else watching tonight’s tête à tête on BBC 1?

I’m dressed in Union Jack shorts, a string vest and a folded copy of the Sun as headwear; I’ve also got a pint of warm, flat beer and an eel pie at the ready.

And a little Union Jack flag, obviously. Made in China.
