    Some excellent stories in this one, as punters we all have them, its good to share :)

    another one recall from many years ago, again Cheltenham as a young student at the time, having just been into horseracing for a couple of years, not too big of a gambler, weekend yankee / major festivals etc.

    Had Ante Post best a few weeks before the festival on 4 things thought were in with great chance.

    If recall wasn’t a huge bet was £20 or £30 4 fold think it was being a thrifty student, my part time wages didn’t stretch to far past the partying aspects of student life at the time

    Supremes – Hors La Loi III 8/1
    Champion – Istabraq 4/6
    Sun Alliance Hurdle as it was called – Barton 3/1

    All rolling on to
    Sun Alliance Chase – Nick Dundee 7/4

    alas poor Nick Dundee came a cropper at the 2nd last when tanking, and never had chance to fulfill is undoubted potential, and bang went a few grand to spend on some debauchery. Being the naive punter back then, and not betfair sadly it was not layed off.

    Ce la vie

    I was all over Mr Frisk for the 1990 Grand National and won a fair few quid but through youth and naivety had also stuck on a £1 straight tricast for him to beat Durham Edition and Brown Windsor.

    1st, 2nd & 4th was pretty painful as a young-ish lad.

    but for horses who actually let me down;

    Runner Up:
    Nomadic Way – Backed him at 3 consecutive Cheltenham festivals and yet failed to do so in the following year’s stayers, when of course he won at a relatively nice price.

    Winner (now there’s irony for you) :
    Vodkatini I – The most villainous of villains.

    A few Saturdays back at Newbury I wrote out a place pot slip and put Mr Lathom in it for the Super Sprint, did a most stupid thing and changed my mind and put Cox’s horse in it instead, obvious thing happened. Mr Lathom placed as did my other 5 and it paid £3k+ and I still feel sick now about it.
