Ok so of the 3 going today (Sunday 25th, the other 2 are on part 1) Chord would be the one who has a realistic chance of success (4:20 Towcester). He’s off a mark of 94, which 18 months ago would have seemed unbelievable, and unusually the handicapper has dropped him very quickly indeed. I know he completely lost his way during the second half of last year, but he has now changed stables and hopefully that will spark him back into action. 2 miles around Towcester on decent going should be right up his street, he has gone well fresh previously, and therefore if he is fit enough, that cannot be an excuse. I’m not sure if he’s really a suitable ride for an amatuer, in fact you’d probably say not. Although it sometimes works wonders with these tricky customers, so it may not prove to be a negative. All in all, whilst the race is competitive for the grade, he has to be value at anything over 10’s, and it appears likely that will be available and more.
October 26, 2009 at 01:23 #255421Chord was well backed today, and ran a strange kind of race. He was in rear, appeared to struggle for a furlong or so, then Ms Allen made a quick move on the outside turning in, and he then didn’t quite get up the hill, but still managed to hang on for third. I’m not too sure what to make of his effort, but without any headgear etc, he appeared to go sweetly enough. I am a little disappointed as I thought first time out was the time to catch him, but he ran ok and hopefully he’ll be given a few weeks before he reappears and he might still show he’s well handicapped in professional hands.
November 14, 2009 at 12:07 #258611There have been a few runners in the past week from both lists, Doc Wells and Seven Stars both being placed at 16’s and 25’s. I will update fully later. The Shy Man is out today, but the ground may be against him.
