Thommo is a very nice bloke, and whether I think he is a good presenter or not is irrelevant. And while I think Mac is hilarious in the betting ring and is fun to watch, as a person he is nothing short of disgusting.

DB – this journey made up for last year’s and then some. Amazing day. I don’t like prawn sandwiches, but I did have an all-you-can-eat chinese buffet at Gallieni waiting for my coach to leave!

Didn’t know jackane was only 18. Innocence is always forgiveable.

Take cannot ride horses, as shown by Deep Impact and Zenno Rob Roy in the Juddmonte International last year. He’s also a b*stard. You’d think, bearing in mind he rides in Europe about once a year, and also given the huge Japanese contingency, he’d be only happy to give a couple of autographs. He refused point blank.

Have to beg to differ with you on that one Jackane, Take is far from a b*stard. I imagine he realised that if he gave one autograph to a British kid, all his Japanese fans would go crazy and mob him! He went out of his way to do an interview for me last year after winning the Japan Cup Dirt and even made the effort to speak some French. He’s just very discreet.
I suggest you go and read the Somebody/Nobody thread in the lounge.

Fabre is a horrible person to speak to – I don’t know if it’s arrogance, shyness or anything else, but you always get the feeling he doesn’t want to be spoken to.

Were you telling him about who knows what about racing then? :cheesy:
Put that big wooden spoon away clive… :cheesy:

Personally, I’m amazed that Andre Fabre couldn’t find time, between saddling 6 Group one runners and dealing with the world media after his biggest win of the year, to sit down for un cafe et un croissant with a random stranger, but these people have strange priorities, you know?

Must admit though, next time you are at the races Jackane, one to look out for is Mick Easterby if you want a nice chat and autograph (when hes busy saddling up five runners) :)

Excuse me – other than asking Fabre for his autograph about an hour before the Arc, I didn’t talk to him. He autographed my programme, and that was it. Afterwards, or even before then, I didn’t approach him, ask him anything, nothing. I didn’t ask to sit down and have a croissant, I didn’t ask him to saddle one of his runners, I didn’t ask him what he knew about racing, I didn’t ask him ANYTHING. So quite where you have developed this little rumour from is beyond me.

My comment was based on WATCHING the BBC coverage.

I remember when somebody started a poll asking if I should be banned from TRF – someone commented that this wasn’t an elitist group. Well tbh, based on the treatment of me and EC, I would strongly disagree with that comment.

    Re A Fabre

I didn’t ask him what he knew about racing

That could have drawn an interesting response though :o

This isnt an elitist forum as evidenced by my participation here :)

So, it sounds like your personal experience of him was quite civilised then, if he signed your programme as requested.

It just seemed to me that you were judging him a little harshly to call him ‘horrible to speak to’, when he was very busy, and when he obviously finds the press attention difficult.

That programme sounds great by the way, I hope you look after it. I’ve got loads of my old racecards from the late 80s stashed away – really evocative for a bit of nostalgia.

Re: the elitist forum stuff – most people on here don’t tolerate foolishness gladly, which is probably the difference between TRF and B*****r. I think it is great that people can’t spout inaccurate, baseless rubbish on here without being challenged. That does not equal elitism, or party politics or any of that other crap. It means everyone’s opinions are open to scrutiny, including yours and mine, and that healthy, intelligent, debate is a better answer to criticism, rather than crying about being picked on.

    Hey Jack !

still having problems I see. Forums need young vibrant and controversial members like you and your mate, give the rest of us something to get our teeth into, right? so keep it up and don’t get the hump, however, you did get some good advice from a number of other members regarding your earlier article asking for advice and suggestions, unfortunately you don’t seem to have taken any of it on board which is a shame. Your Willie Carson quip certainly made me chuckle though…..lol!!

seeing as you know all about everything try and answer me this please,
there’s a thoroughbred pedigree web site, their family trees where you can click on any horse’s name and it gives you it’s offspring and siblings, all their stakes results etc. I can’t think for the life of me what it’s called, any ideas Jack????? anyone ????

    cheers xx
