The obvious one at this stage for me is last years winner Benson. Seems to have retained his form this year, and he’s at the very least, weighted to make a good go of repeating last years impressive win. Wouldn’t be in a mad rush to bet him early though, and I’m more intrigued at this stage by stablemate Bass Rock. Long time since he went over hurdles, though it’s a slight niggle that he’s from the Sandy Thomson yard, and hasn’t been to Kelso before, but I’m very interested in him.
I’ve bet Faivoir for The County Hurdle, but I’m wary that that does seem a bit obvious, and he might have something else lined up for it. I think taking that view, then he might be a big player here instead. Cracking run at Newbury, and he’s surely going to win somewhere before the seasons out.
Go Dante did even better at Newbury, and I think he’s a cert to head here. Currently a very nice price.
Great to see N’Golo back in the entries, not seen since taking a few quid of mine with him down the field in the 2022 Greatwood, but his well-being probably have to be taken on trust.
Faivoir, and the Sandy Thomson pair would be the obvious selections for me, but the other trio who I particularly like are Bingoo, The Churchill Lad, and Salsada, so I’m very happy to leave this alone for now, but definitely a race to keep an eye on in the next couple of weeks
February 14, 2024 at 16:04 #1681073We’re going to it this year!
February 14, 2024 at 20:24 #1681091Impossible to have a bet at this stage.
Because if Go Dante was felt a likely runner surely he wouldn’t be 14’s given his form this year!
February 21, 2024 at 15:38 #1681972The horse that I nearly bet for this last year was Ganapathi, the ex-Mullins horse. I see that he’s got an entry again. I’m going to actually back him this time at 66/1 ew
February 21, 2024 at 16:40 #1681990Autumnal that is an omen. I will join you with Ganapathi if he runs here. Unlike you I did have a bet on him in this last year, but I’ll definitely wait this year, and see that he actually turns up on the day.
I have had a bet in this. There’s a Nicholls horse way down the betting, Sans Bruit, who was a nice horse when in France. I’ve taken 33-1, and I think that he could for the Cheltenham bonus this year if they’re offering it
February 23, 2024 at 04:53 #1682202I backed Ganapathi last time out and they had a right go , still think there is a decent chase in him , this will be Benson’s Gold Cup and the yard is flying
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 26, 2024 at 23:53 #1682729I bet N’Golo last time he ran, which was a fair way back, last season’s Greatwood.
He wasn’t great.Impressive winner of The Swinton before that though, and I just can’t leave that 50’s (he’s being backed). Trainer has his moments, and be done performance off this layoff. I’m not totally convinced, but 50’s sways me.
Not necessarily the main bet. With the Sandy Thomson pair still in there, I’m undecided, but swaying towards Bass Rock. If it is Bass Rock, I’ll still definitely bet him in some shape or form again
Bass Rock 33’s EW6Pls
N’Golo 50’s EWMain two bet, but Benson will be 100% covered as the sentimental/saver selection
March 1, 2024 at 05:19 #1683020I’ll be tickling a few , I backed Bass rock as he’s to big , I’m also going to have to tickle Ganapathi as he’s on my horses to follow list , however I reckon he’s a better chaser , I might tickle another come Sat if 1 or 2 come out
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 1, 2024 at 18:48 #1683067Being an electrical engineer I can’t not do Rewired.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 1, 2024 at 22:19 #1683108Geromino has been a big surprise back over hurdles. I think the last time he won with something in hand. This is a stronger race, but at his price it is worth to give him a chance here.
Geromino 25/1 EW
March 1, 2024 at 22:22 #1683111Caithness is quite a strong fancy for me in this at 33-1. That’s the main selection, but given the competition in this, it’s another race where I’d like two. Geromino is the second selection at 25-1
March 2, 2024 at 11:33 #1683183I am with VTC and Bass Rock. Not particularly worried about his two moderate efforts this season. He has 7lb claimer on board, which puts him on a mark 10lbs below his last win.
I missed the big prices but am happy to side with him at 16/1, 5 places.
March 2, 2024 at 12:28 #1683214Black Hawk Eagle ew 6 places
March 2, 2024 at 13:09 #1683243Under Control ruled out on veterinary advice.
March 2, 2024 at 13:15 #1683249Caithness for me too wotr. I’ve taken 30-1 ew 6pls
March 2, 2024 at 13:17 #1683251Cracking Rhapsody 12s
Best of luck to all
March 2, 2024 at 14:04 #1683286Apart from Nubre at Doncaster this race is my main play of the day , had some of Bobbys 33s about Bass Rock , also had some nice prices about Ganapathi , I can’t leave Benson alone either , it’s a horse for course course Kelso and this is Benson’s back garden
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
