Entries out, but no market yet. Looks like the bonus for going on to win at Cheltenham is still on offer, going by the quality of entries……

The likes of Buveur D’Air, Autumn Evening, and Tommy’s Oscar all caught the eye immediately, but an early shortlist of four here, though the longer there isn’t a market, the better for me.
No strong preference right now, but I’d be really interested to see how Since Day One coped in this. Still early days with him, but been following him since his debut at Carlisle, and reckon he’s got a decent future.
Faivoir was a big hope of mine in this last year, and put in a good performance to finish third. I wasn’t too keen on the switch to fences for him, and been quite nonplussed with how he’s fared. Perhaps it’ll all come right in something like The Grand Annual, but first of all he’s also got an entry in The Kingwell as an option, and at this time I’m thinking more like County Hurdle. Very happy to see him possibly heading back over timber.
Another with a possible entry this weekend is Herbiers. I’ve always fancied him to land a decent pot, and he was an early wasted bet for me in The Greatwood. Given his poor seasonal debut, probably for the best that he wasn’t considered for that. Much, much more like it last time, and given his unfashionable profile, he could go here a couple of points too big.
I didn’t necessarily have a prize like this in mind, but I took a note of Light Brigade after his win at Thurles last time, and he’d be well on my radar of he travelled over.
No rush to have a bet, but I’m sure there’ll be an Antepost Market at some point, and I’ll no doubt crumble.
Market……

Early Shortlist
Faivoir
Herbiers
Light Brigade
Since Day OneFebruary 17, 2022 at 11:43 #1583565Balco Coastal looks well handicapped to me off 134
One I will be backing when he runs in a handicap
February 19, 2022 at 22:27 #1583915Saint D’Oroux at 14-1 for me just now. I think that he is worth an early bet just now as I think that he’ll run
February 20, 2022 at 14:08 #1583982Autumn Evening is a horse that has a big prize or two in him this year. If I see any word that he’s travelling over, then I will go with him. The 14/1 is very fair to me, but I’m going to wait
February 25, 2022 at 14:00 #1584658One of the highlights of the season at Kelso and adding this to the Premier Hurdle & Chase programme in recent years has made for a very tasty card.
Won’t work out any figures until next Thursday once 48 hours are known. One that does catch my eye, but won’t look so well treated on my figures, is Socialist Agenda (Generally 14/1, 20/1 in a place) who whizzed away from decent opponents at Musselburgh with any amount in hand. Form round a variety of tracks so I don’t see Kelso being a problem.
February 28, 2022 at 13:38 #1585172Autumn Evening is in at the five day stage, and with Harrington having had runners here before, I’ve taken 10/1
February 28, 2022 at 19:35 #1585214Only one of the early shortlist makes it for me, so even with no guarantee he’s going, happy to have an early bet on Faivoir.
Not convinced he’ll make it, and he could wait for The County, but I like him, and they might just take in both.
Faivoir 10’s
March 3, 2022 at 17:47 #1585588This is about as close as any handicap for which I have calculated figures since starting with the method in June 2020.
157 Voix Du Reve
157 Alqamar
156 Autumn Evening
155 Faivoir
154 Buveur D’Air
154 Cormier
154 Severance
154 Thereisnodoubt
153 Some Reign
152 Metier
152 Saint D’Oroux
152 Balko SaintMy long range choice isn’t there and to tell the truth I’d struggle to split these as most would have some sort of squeak at this level. I shall take great pleasure in watching a great contest from my rooftop perch at Kelso.

VF x
March 5, 2022 at 10:46 #1585814Saint D’Oroux for me too here. He won last time at Kelso and with a claimer on board he is basically on a lower mark now. He showed decent form as well last year in the Ladbrokes Hurdle at the Dublin Festival.
Saint D’Oroux 11/1 EW
March 5, 2022 at 13:19 #1585838Voix Du Reve and Balko Saint for me; one of them is a free bet from Bet365
March 5, 2022 at 13:24 #1585841Voix de reve as been going over further but the handicapper has given him a solid chance , im sitting on my hands so not to play Buveur D’Air , he,ll surely need the run but he’s a big price esp as he’s Nico,’s only ride
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
