Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know what became of the more than useful staying hurdler Mighty Man who was almost unbeatable around Aintree?
Always remember him suffering a really bad looking injury at Punchestown which appeared life threatening (after he had already run at the Cheltenham & Aintree Festivals that season).
I remember writing to Henry Daly soon after to check his well-being but never received a response.
Amazingly he returned 2 years later and managed to get within 3 lengths of Stayers Hurdle winner Big Bucks at his beloved Aintree in the Liverpool Hurdle.
He then won 2 out 2 Novice chases the following season and promptly disappeared again.
The injury was a real shame because he was built to be a chaser and I’m sure he would have won a Cheltenham Gold Cup had he stayed sound.
