I had a great winner, made a lot of money, and then this happens
to Envoi Allen. It matters more than any winner, it takes any gloss
off the day. I have to ask though, a race as tough as the Gold Cup
was it the right thing to ask Envoi at 12 years ? A horse that’s won
17 races, including 12 on the trot. I hate to say it, but this was
surely a race too far. He was well overdue his long and happy retirement.

Thanks Jac… I’ve loved Gaelic Warrior since day 1
Similar though to BigG, the gloss is certainly taken off after the news of Envoi Allen

So happy for you Nathan, Gaelic Warrior truly deserved his win today and so glad he has seen of his critics  :rose:

Must admit I’ve been pretty low tonight Graham reflecting on the loss of poor Envoi Allen, it was one of the most competitive Gold Cups we’ve ever seen and as good as he is he was never really going to win it with his advancing years. Like you I wish he hadn’t run maybe just brought along to parade before his retirement.

Having said that, I’m sure Henry de Bromhead ran him in the spirit of let’s give him a good send off on the course he loves never dreaming it would end like this. He’s a good man and has been through terrible times losing his beloved son in a horrific accident during a race. I feel for the whole yard and his lass who cared for him.

I feel the worst I have since One Man was lost in the Mumm Melling at Aintree after winning the Gold Cup and the wasted life of Gold Cup winner Synchronised in the Grand National. I loved that horse.

We will never forget dear Envoi Allen, the bravest of the brave who deserved a long and happy retirement that was sadly not to be..😪 I hope they find a lovely way to keep his name alive. :rose: Jac

I get a lot of horses mixed up and I hadn’t realised Envoi Allen wasn’t a 3 mile horse although I’ve always remembered how upset his lass was when he was moved from Gordon Elliotts. It has left me feeling very flat after thinking that fatalities had been drastically reduced recently. At least Adams horse did well in the Triumph; am going up to Mikes place over Easter so I’ll hopefully get to see him. I don’t know how the stable staff get over things like this. I’m still struggling with the death of Endo the Blind who I’ve followed for years on facebook.

I was thinking the same thing about Envoi Allen Graham. He had no chance in the race, so why put the old boy under the stress, etc. I also agree with you Jac, I don’t think DeBromhead would have sent him out there if they thought there was a major risk to his health. Just a terrible shame. I feel horrible for the stable staff that cared for him every day. Heartbreaking.

Hi Darren, been a busy week for me with Marjorie at hospital and then me on Friday.
In between all that I’ve had the Cheltenham competition an dtrying to pick some
winners up. I just never got round to the Players Championship. I think you have a
great chance with L’Aberg. He’s a great young player and I think he can hold onto
that lead. All the best mate, I think you’re on a winner.

I might have a mental bet on the Players in-play, it’s worked out well for me before
but I don’t want to hoax your L’Aberg. He’s sound and should see it through :good:

Thanks Andre, she is fine it was just a talk and a slide show giving
sensible tips. A bit long, but good to know they are not ignoring you.
Marjorie is already taking the steps (well most) that the talk outlined :good:

Darren is almost certainly got the winner of the Players Championship.
I’ve stuck on a couple of bigger priced players. Cameron Young at 10/1
and Matt Fitzpatrick at 22/1, he’s doing quite well but Aberg is going to
have to slip a bit. Who knows, although I still think Darren has the man :good:

Thanks Nick, it turned out a great Cheltenham . Thanks to my Potgieter win and my
Arnold Palmer and Joberg wins leading up to Cheltenham I made a bit of a killing
    on Apalon De Charney.

I’m honestly pig sick for Darren in the Players Championship,
he should have won it but his man took cold feet on the final
day. I was lucky enough to have backed Cameron Young in-running
who obliged at 10/1 although I don’t feel so good about it as I
hate to see Darren , or anyone, with a near certain winner who
gets turned over. Betting is a tough game and you take what you
    can get.

I’m fine Nick thanks, I hope you are doing well :good:

I’ve been looking through the Lincoln these past few days. It’s always
chancy with over 100 still entered but I think Paddy Power is chancing
his arm offering Mudbir at 20/1. His dad is Kingman who won 7 out of
8 races, 4 Group 1’s. It would have been 5 with the 2000 Guineas until
Night of Thunder at 40/1 (I can’t deny I had a few shillings on, but you’ll
have to take my word on that) Mudbir’s dad is Kingman his mum Handassa by
Dubawi. He’s trained by John Gosden, who won this in 2021 and will almost
certainly be ridden by Jim Crowley. He’s won 3 of his 6 runs and although
7th last time he had a pretty rough passage. If he runs, he won’t be 20/1
if he does run and the draw is important, but that can be either side.
I’ll probably bet another nearer the day :good:

    Hi All..
Hope yourself and Marjorie are doing well Graham.
I’ve been a bit low this week and haven’t been looking at the horses. The death of Envoi Allen upset me more than I thought.

I will start to take a look at The Lincoln in a couple of days, Mubdir has a great chance Graham :good: I can’t wait for the return of Flat Racing and also hope the Dubai World Cup takes place on the 28th March, with all the dreadful things that are happening at the moment.

I’ll be back in the swing again in a few days..stay safe..

Many thanks for that link Nick :good: it’s nice to get an idea of who may be turning out for the Dubai World Cup although I don’t think Rebel’s Romance will be amongst the runners as he has been withdrawn from the Godolphin Fantasy League list of horses taking part along with Talk Of New York who holds a 2000 Guineas entry. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is back in the UK for a while until all this nonsensical and dangerous tit for tat bombing in the Middle East ceases.
    Thanks again Nick :good:
Really like the chances of Meydaan in the 1st race if he runs. :good: Jac

Think there will be more added as well to these ‘probables’
Seven days to go and also Donny
With you on the war, why can’t people just get on I even now and then talk to my spurs friends
Good luck Jac and all :good:
