Hello to everyone-I hope that you are all OK and ready for Christmas.
I am not sure if anyone does a selection for Neil’s Weekend Handicap
but the race for this weekend is the December Gold Cup (1-50 Cheltenham)
not the original race chosen. This has caused some confusion but there is still time to make an entry.
Many Thanks
John
December 14, 2024 at 16:12 #1715456I’ll have to check out the TRF annual awards thread. I don’t visit many threads besides this one and most of the competition threads. Meydan Thursdays is like a home away from home, with my TRF family. I love this thread and our little family here.
We’re experiencing some winter weather, nothing horrible compared to the folks in NY state, etc. but cold, a couple inches of snow, and freezing rain this morning.
I got to watch some live racing this morning (my time), which was enjoyable, even though my comp selections didn’t run that well.
Glad to hear your Dr. gave you an “emergency” supply of anti-biotics for the holidays Graham. You need to be in good shape to see your grand-kids.
Ahhh Jac, Louise has it all figured out! Bacon before shopping!! I hope the shopping trip went well.
Stay safe everyone.
December 14, 2024 at 23:16 #1715471Thanks Andre..yes it went very well and I think that’s a wrap now and time to get on with wrapping the presents and planning Christmas dinner..I bought a great after dinner quiz of Disney Trivia so that everyone can join in and play. I think I’ll be good up to the Lion King and Frozen but films after that the youngsters might shine in answering those.
Graham I was knocked out by your kind words about our Thread here it brought back so many memories happy and sad of how we struggled through the dark days of Covid and I’m so proud to have played a part in making it happen but of course without all of you it just wouldn’t exist and together we have made this Thread what it is today a welcoming place for anybody to come and say hello, express an opinion; post up tips and tell us what they have done or about to do with family and friends. I am really proud to be part of this unique Thread Graham and everyone who posts here is as Andre says our little family..

Hope your keeping g safe and warm back there in the States Andre at least you will be getting a traditional snowy Christmas. 🎄 ❄️ 🎅
John I think Neil realised his mistake and got things back on track today.
No luck for me this Saturday and Graham our Caldwell Potter failed to shine in higher company yesterday…I can feel Goodfellow breathing down my neck now in the comp but I do love a challenge.
Looking forward to the start of Meydan next Friday. I hope Godolphin remember they are actually running a Fantasy League Competition alongside it up to The Dubai World Cup in March .
Look forward to seeing how we all fair this time round and if there will be Bonus races throughout and not just for Christmas.
Jac xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 16, 2024 at 19:40 #1715560I’ve been waiting for this horse to come out since I saw him win at the Final Meeting at Newmarket beginning of November…
Of course I never believed for one moment he would go hurdling
… but he looked so fit 46 days ago I think he can do this ….
2.15 Wincanton
CHOURMO – 18/1 – EW (Price Boost)Fingers crossed he comes home sound safe whatever the result..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 17, 2024 at 06:36 #1715578good luck today with your hedgehopper Jac
December 17, 2024 at 08:36 #1715583Thanks Nick..
I’m sure he’ll do the extra distance and definitely goes on the ground.
I’ll be happy with a place but I think he could possible surprise with a decent run just hope he remembers to pick his hooves up…
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 17, 2024 at 08:42 #1715585Do you think Fury will regain his title in Saudi Saturday Night Nick.❓️
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 17, 2024 at 11:23 #1715589Jac I have backed fight not to go the distance as I think Fury will try and jump on him early and try and get job done inside 6, now if that plan don’t work the wheels could fall off. That’s my theory anyway
Watched a video last night of Turki(the Saudi paymaster) talking to the two fights on the phone and he clearly want Tyson to in so they have the rubber match. So Usyk really must be thinking also know why am i getting this if it goes to the cards.I see the decs are out for Friday now Jac, looking forward to seeing people’s views again on here
December 17, 2024 at 16:07 #1715602That sounds like a shrewd bet Nick best of luck with that one.

Chourmo pulled up in his first race over hurdles after running quite well in the early stages he was no match for Don’t Mind If I Do.
Hopefully he will learn from this but I would prefer to see him back on the flat again.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 17, 2024 at 17:32 #1715604Have any of you seen my beloved Wise Eagle hack up over hurdles recently? I’m a wreck whenever he races ( didn’t watch today’s race; locked myself in the loo and Mike shouted up to me when the race was over!). They said he wouldn’t be going over hurdles but I guess there was nowhere else for him to go. I hope they won’t be tempted to sell him because he must be catching a lot of eyes now.
December 18, 2024 at 13:24 #1715642Godolphins Measured Time will be short to win the G2 Al Rashidiya for a second time on Friday. Struggling to find something to put up against him. Looks to be long odds on in my book.
Couple more races to look at as i can not get on with the dirt racingGood luck and hopefully we find a few(as you lot normally do)
December 19, 2024 at 10:31 #1715684Bonus race alert! Can’t tell you what it is because I have forgotten my password. Will have to try to find it before tomorrow!
December 19, 2024 at 11:49 #1715687Billies first up and as thought Measured Time 4/11
December 19, 2024 at 19:30 #1715703Hello to everyone – I hope that you are all well and staying safe.
I have just entered my list for the Godolphin Fantasy Competition
I hope that I have done the right thing and that the Bonus Race is
not a one off as with the Flat Season.Let us keep our fingers crossed that our interest is kept going through
the winter.Many Thanks
December 19, 2024 at 23:44 #1715731Hi Nick, John, Catherine, Graham, Andre and all..sorry been away longer than intended getting presents wrapped and food in for Christmas day…time is ticking on and still a fair bit to do ready for the Invasion.

Nick..
I really like Cover Up in the 1st race at Meydan and have taken the 3/1.
Also..
3.15 ..Native Approach – 100/30DOUBLE

I am visiting a couple of old friends tomorrow morning and don’t know if I will get a chance to watch the racing until later in the afternoon but will report back if anything jumps out and hope Graham and Andre might have a few ideas. Good luck with your choices Nick.

John
Thanks for giving us the heads up on the Bonus Race and let’s hope it is not a one off like you say. Best of luck with your stable, I’m guessing we will all have the same 7 horses in our stable and as for the other 3 I’m taking a look in Mystic Meg’s magic globe for those..
Catherine
Hope you find your password and get in tonight or tomorrow morning. The Bonus Race is the 3.15…
NATIVE APPROACH
MOVIE MAKER
GHALYInteresting to see if SBS’s horses have regained their form this year otherwise they will possibly finish in that order with a few horses in between.
Best of luck
Jac
I’ll put up a Leaderboard in the New Year.
Hello Moe
I hope Wise Eagle’s antics over hurdles doesn’t see you seeking refuge in the loo too many times this season..lovely lovely horse.
I know how you feel as I haven’t been able to watch any of the jumps live. I tape it and then check the result before I can watch and enjoy it.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 20, 2024 at 00:56 #1715732And Adams partner, who looks after Wise Eagle, has just won a ROR class at The Horse of the Year Show with Lady Buttons ( she looked after her at Phil Kirby’s, too). So it’s been a good week for them and well deserved too. It was sad when Lady Buttons couldn’t be bred from but, to be honest when you see how many brood mares meet with problems, it has been for the best. Whatever happens to Wise Eagle and Lady Buttons they have a wonderful life being exercised on the beach and in the sea.
December 20, 2024 at 06:11 #1715734Good stuff and Good luck Jac

Just waiting to see if San Donato gets slightly bigger in 3.15 to back him EW
Seven is probably a bit on short side but I think he can fall into the frame at least
Good luck today everyone
