Oh Ginger
If you weren’t leading the Winter Series Tipping Compy
I might almost feel sorry for you.
Can you throw me down a few Oscar Whiskeys to help
me get into gear for 2013..
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Jac xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 28, 2012 at 19:37 #23315It’s been quite a year in racing and most of it has been discussed at length on these pages.
Despite Facebook, Twitter and other social media attracting its share of racing discussion we continue to hold our own and I’m indebted to everyone who has helped us throughout the last year. I’d like to mention a few specifically…

Matron - who has helped me moderate the forum for many years and whose help has been invaluable in this past year as I’ve not been able to spend as much time on this aspect as I’d have liked.Bob Rolf – whose 4PP remains the best racing competition on the internet. Bob scores loads of entries week in, week out in what I know is a very time consuming task.
Nathan Hughes – kidney replacement one week, scoring the Winter World Series of Tipping the next. Enough said!
Other scorers in comps including Gaz’s Way De Solzen and Red Rum (there may be others!)
Rob North – unrivalled knowledge of northern racing form and great companion on many a cold day at Kelso
JJM Sports, TBRacing, The Ante-Post King and EmmyK – all contributed feature columns to the forum and, in our name, beyond. Very grateful to them all.
Lucinda Russell & yard and James Ewart & yard – for allowing us access (and an extra thank you the Ewarts for arranging for me to meet one of my heroes.)
James H, Charles and Simon at TRF Towers for all their help and time

Ollie and James G for their work keeping the thing technically afloatAnd thank you to all our advertisers and sponsors who keep the thing afloat financially. Particularly Paddy Power, Marten Julian/Dark Horses, Racing Post Books and Coolmore all of whom have been particularly generous with competition prizes this past year.
Finally thanks to Outlaw Tom, Paul Brierley, Lucinda Russell and all at Milnathort RC for helping a few of us TRF’ers realise a lifetime dream of seeing a horse we have a little part of gallop its way into the winner’s enclosure
But most of all thanks to everyone who has posted on TRF during the last 12 months. We’re a diverse group with, I like to think, the freedom to be a little more edgy than the mainstream racing media, and I wouldn’t change that for a minute.
Hope you all have a GREAT 2013!!!!!!!
December 31, 2012 at 01:30 #424846Congratulations on a brilliant forum and many thanks to all those mentioned for making it that way.
December 31, 2012 at 11:35 #424872Thank you for hosting the forum David, and to the others you mention for their help.

January 1, 2013 at 02:53 #424926Many thanks David for helping me sort out my lost password a few months back and for hosting the site so well and posting some great photos and competitions.
Good luck for 2013 to all mentioned above.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 1, 2013 at 11:00 #424928I don’t come along as often as I like, but I’d like to add my thanks to David and everyone else for all their hard work in making this such a well run, and great place to talk about the sport we love. Happy new year to you all!

January 1, 2013 at 11:59 #424937Happy New Year David, and best wishes for 2013!!
I really do like this forum, some excellent discussion and views.
All the best for 2013, all.
December 24, 2013 at 00:25 #25313I’d like to take this seasonal opportunity to say a few words of thanks as we approach the end of 2013.
Firstly, I’d like to thank, in no particular order, Bob Rolf, John Priddey (The Young Fella), Matron, TBRacing, Tom Boardman (Bozlike), Jack Milner (JJM Sports) , Nathan Hughes, Rob North, The Eyecatcher and The Ante Post King for all their help in various ways with the forum this last year. I very much appreciate all your efforts.
I’d also like to thank those TRF’ers involved in Milnathort RC for sticking with it, great to see Tom back on the racecourse, let’s hope he gets back to his old form in the not too distant future.
It was also great to meet up with a few of you on the racecourses around the place. I’d particularly like to mention Paul Ostermeyer who announced he was retiring from his regular racecourse attendances and work. Paul has been a great friend and it was always great to meet up with him, we’ve watched a few great races together from that Ascot stand, I hope to see you again Paul and hope you continue to contribute on TRF.
Thanks also to Cavelino Rampante and Lamrumney Boy for helping me out with some other racing ‘stuff’ – again, much appreciated.
And also thanks to the racing industry people who agreed to participate in our Q&A sessions, I hope to do more of those soon.
I’d also like to thank Simon, James and Charles for their continued ‘behind-the-scenes’ time and support of the forum.
I’m sure there must be somebody I’ve forgotten!
Finally, and most importantly of all, thanks to all who’ve posted on a thread or just looked in and had a read. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and I look forward to another great year for TRF and racing.
2013 has been a tough year for TRF in some ways, we’ve had a few technical challenges and I’ve found it tough to find the time to devote to the site in the way I’d ideally have wanted. But it is still, in my (slightly biased) opinion, one of the very best places on the net for anyone to discuss ideas and to learn about racing. We continue to hold our own traffic-wise, and the number of posts and posters continues to be encouraging. Hopefully we’ve moderated fairly.
Have a great, safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous and healthy 2014 each and every one.

December 24, 2013 at 06:54 #462842Ha, yes indeed. Ty Mr P.
December 24, 2013 at 12:23 #462853Thank you, David, for your continued efforts of running this great forum.
Have a nice Christmas.
December 24, 2013 at 13:03 #462856I would like to thank the admin
team, Cormack and Matron and the back
room boys for their involvement this year
but particularly for adopting a
very people protective attitude.
We have lost few ‘mites as I
remember and there seems to be a
more tolerant attitude developing
which pleases me as I polish
my new crown and admire my reflection.OH – MERRY SPLASH XMAS
