Happy Christmas everyone. May you have lots of fun with you friends and family over the festive period.
Go easy on the sherry Janet, and the pink Bacardi breezers Toots, but I wish you all well and hope the new year is good to you and all your family as I hope it will be for me.
Merry christmas everyone.

<br>"You’re so left", even.
…which is not strictly true in any case – I just abhor the more overtly right-wing ideologies and opinions espoused here and elsewhere far too often.
Now if you want a real, rabid left-winger, you need to make the acquaintance of Little Bro Column…

December 29, 2006 at 22:25 #4370Hi everyone –
At the end of what has been a traumatic year for The Racing Forum I’m pleased to report that the forum continues to thrive, with membership and site stats continuing in an upwards direction. That is, of course, not the only, or most important, barometer of the site’s health but my own view is that The Racing Forum continues to provide a vibrant outlet for those of us who want to express our views on racing and debate the issues of the day with the relative freedom we enjoy on the Forum. <br>The way the site continued after the sadness associated with Daylight’s passing was a testament to the community that he had built up and I am very hopeful that, wherever he is, he’ll be proud to see his treasured creation still buoyant.
COMPETITIONS <br>The competitions section of the site continues to be one of the most popular aspects. In the last few months we’ve seen the conclusion of the summer version of Bob Rolf’s 4pp (won by Librettist) and also Johnny B’s Naps competition (won by Merlin The Magician). Well done to the winners and sincere thanks to both Bob and Johnny for their continued efforts with these ever-popular competitions. I know the amount of work that goes into them and I am sure I speak for all the competitors when I say that your hard work is very much appreciated.
This winter’s 4PP competition will have an additional dimension as the inaugural ‘Daylight Cup’ will form part of the competition. DL was a great fan of Bob’s competition and it is very fitting and appropriate that we’ve found a way to remember Daylight within the framework of this very popular institution (hope you don’t mind me calling it an institution Bob!).
SPONSORS <br>Also very many thanks are due to Betfred who sponsor both the 4pp and the Naps competition. Betfred remain extremely loyal supporters of the site and I am very grateful for their continued support.
For those who are anxious to see the return of the Tipping Premiership, I am trying to obtain a sponsor for that competition at the minute and will get it up and running as soon as I have something sorted out.
As you know, the Forum relies on a certain amount of advertising/commercial revenue to survive and I am very grateful to those companies who choose to advertise on the site.
TRF STORE<br>In addition to this you can help the site financially by doing all your Amazon.com shopping via the online store that we’ve set up on the site (use the banner link on the left hand side of the forum). Although initially set up for Christmas only, it has proven a popular addition and I plan to continue with it into the New Year. I looked into the possibility of setting up our own, bespoke, store but felt that the security and choice offered by Amazon meant that a partnership with them was the best way forward. As this progresses I am hopeful that we’ll be able to offer the best of the newest racing related books, DVD’s and software/games.
TRF POKER<br>The final item I want to briefly say a few words on is the TRF Poker. We’ve had a very successful few months on our own poker tables in the private TRF tournaments run in conjunction with our partners Fair Poker. While the games are always hard fought and very competitive, with prize money often in the region of $200 per game, we are still keen to recruit new players for the bi weekly games (Tuesdays and Saturdays 8pm). If you want a slice of that action then you can join by clicking the link on the left hand side of the page. Who knows, one of the now legendary TRF Poker Trophies (awarded to the player who amasses most prize money every month) could soon be on YOUR mantelpiece.<br>Again – very many grateful thanks to our partners FAIR POKER who, in addition to their help in organizing and hosting the games, have generously contributed to the prize money fund for our games. Their support is very much appreciated.
So, as we move towards 2007, I’d like to thank everyone for the support I’ve been given by so many of you since taking over the day to day running of the site back in July/August. As we move forward I have several ideas for enhancing the site further, while being mindful not to interfere with the very things that make it so popular, and I know I can count on your support as we continue to ensure that this much valued resource continues to thrive and develop.
Finally – a big thank you to the following people who made extra special contributions during the past year –
Debs (LRM) – I need say no more<br>Jim (JTS) – Jim has done loads of good stuff unnoticed behind the scenes (helping with icons, competition admin, moderating and coming up with some great ideas in addition to being the most entertaining guy in the chat room). All of  which deserves recognition. Thanks Jim, your contribution is very much appreciated.<br>The Moderators – Thankfully we have such a grown up bunch of contributors that the ‘mods’ are rarely called upon to do much moderating but I know that they diligently look after their various areas so a big Thanks to them all.<br>Johnny B and Bob Rolf – As mentioned earlier I, and I am sure many others do likewise, underestimate the time and effort that is required by Johnny and Bob in running their highly successful and popular competitions. A very big thank you to you both.
Finally, of course, thanks to everyone who has posted during 2006. Let’s hope we can all argue like billy-o for yet another year.
Have a great 2007 when it comes and happy racegoing, punting, bookmaking, writing and whatever else it is you lot you get up to!

December 30, 2006 at 20:22 #104202Ere everyone.
I think LRM is a bird!
Bloody women get everywhere.
<br> Thankyou forum people, and can I ask if its alright for me to continue to be the most grumpy of folk on the forum?
If so, then I hate poofs and pollitical correctness!
Best wishes to you and your 3000+? members, for the new year, and I hope to enjoy more topical debates within the new year. (The immigration thing might be mentioned again, but who cares).
Feliz ano nuevo!
