Heartbreak City 25/1 E/W
Interesting to see that Ebor Winner Heartbreak City has been taken out of the Ces in favour of this race.
The original owners have sold a share of the horse to Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock but interestingly have still retained part ownership of the horse. Mr. Martin is still in charge of the training.
Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock purchased and syndicated Jakkalberry for the 2012 Melbourne Cup. He ran 3rd, earning a massive $450,000 in prizemoney. They also syndicated Dandino for the 2013 Caulfield Cup where he ran 2nd, earning $375,000.

October 26, 2016 at 20:17 #1268771My old friend Heartbreak City is my hope for this, it’s a fiendishly difficult race to plunder but the way he bolted up in the Ebor suggests he has enough class to cope.
October 26, 2016 at 20:19 #1268772Sorry didn’t realise there was already a thread for this by botchy, feel free to close and combine with that one….he also goes for HC so a good sign!
October 27, 2016 at 00:55 #1268821I’m already tuned into Radio Sport 927.

Missed the cut by one, how frustrating. Does anyone know if the Aussie rules are the same as the Uk with horses missing the cut ?
October 29, 2016 at 19:42 #1269360Is it the barrier draw tonight?
October 29, 2016 at 21:00 #1269371October 30, 2016 at 05:36 #1269395October 30, 2016 at 16:07 #1269518Horror draw for HC and also Wicklow Brave, probably doubles their odds of winning now.
Therefore I’m going to jump ship to Almandin who although isn’t drawn much better in 17, it may give him a better chance than those +20 in getting position early on. Another thing is that he’s by Monsun who’s other progeny have a great record in this race – I also like the jockey booking of McEvoy who is bidding for a second success, some 16 years after his first!
October 30, 2016 at 16:43 #1269519Outside of the UK this is my favourite race. Last year I set the alarm to go
off at 3.50, but I needn’t have bothered as once I started listening to the build
up I didn’t shut an eye. Before the race I commented to Moehat, who I knew was also
listening ……….” Hi Moe, I dont know if you are going to listen to the Cup on Radio 5 live,
but if you’re still about, you might like to listen to the commentary
of the full meeting on an Aussie channel. The two guys who are commenting
on it at the moment are a hoot. You can tune in at the link below if you
want to have a listen.
Good luck with you horses.
Good luck with yours too Nathan, I see we’ve both got Snow Sky.https://radio.abc.net.au/stations/local_melbourne/live?play=true
It was one of the funniest racing broadcasts I’ve had the pleasure to listen to.
I don’t remember either of their names, but if the link is still working and you
intend staying up, then do yourselves a favour and tune in. I hope they are back
this year.As for the race this year, I’ve picked out a couple to give me a betting interest.
GRAND MARSHAL ran in this last year, from stall 15, and finished
21st. That doesn’t tell the story as he was midfield and moving up when nearly
brought down 1 1/2f out. He’s mostly run in top races, but from distances from 7f
to 12f. I’m not sure if there was design in that for this, but prior to last year’s
race he only won one race that year, the Group 1 Sydney Cup over 2m. He clearly is
in decent shape, winning the Mooney Valley Gold Cup just over a week ago, over 12 1/2f
and I think the 40/1 is worth a bet.My other hope GALLANTE has only one win to his name in the past
2 years, and it was the only time he tried further than 12f, winning the Group 1
Schweppes Sydney Gold Cup (£663,000 to the winner) in April this year, and not unfancied
at 9/1. He went off 14/5 fav in the same race as Grand Marshal last time out, but needs
further. He is trained by Robert Hickmott, who won this with Green Moon in 2012. I think
he is massively overpriced at 66/1.Drawn 2 and 9 only adds to their chances.
G’day and good luck cobbers
October 30, 2016 at 19:04 #1269579Think Gallante needs soft ground [according to a review I read] but I did back him just in case.I’ll try that station as well as Radio Sport. Still suffering from not backing the 100/1 shot last year [having opened an account just so I could have bets like that]. That and the fact that I clicked the wrong button today when only half concentrating on what I was doing, and ended up having a huge [for me that is] bet on a horse that finished nowhere in the bumper in Ireland [ouch].I’m trying to think of it as a learning curve Think the Godolphin horses might do it this year. And had to back Wicklow Brave even though the draw has scuppered his hopes.
October 30, 2016 at 19:09 #1269580Yep; link works ok. Listening to it now to get in ‘the zone’…ALas, now I’m retired I can no longer crawl into work on Tuesday saying ‘G’day’ to everyone [although I think the patients are grateful!]….and I have to still listen to Radio Sport for my yearly date with ‘Peter the Possum Man’.
October 30, 2016 at 21:42 #1269596You’re most certainly not alone in inadvertently backing the wrong horse Moe,
I’ve been guilty of that too, and then you can’t not bet the one you intended
to bet in case it wins….and then both loseThe ground is good at the moment, but a 30% chance of rain on Monday and 90%
chance on Tuesday may soften it a little. As long as it’s no worse than good
(not firmer) I think Gallante will be okay. Good luck with Wicklow Brave, you’re
sure to get a good run with him.I’ll look out for Peter the Possum man, and you’ll just need to say G’day to

…he’s the jaffa!
October 30, 2016 at 22:53 #1269632Just as long as he doesn’t get pipped Joe
October 30, 2016 at 22:53 #1269633I’ve just added Exosphere [sp] to my ever growing list.Ticks a lot of boxes.
