Of course, Simenons run depends on who wins on Saturday doesn’t it?
November 1, 2013 at 20:09 #456927Simenon is now guaranteed a start. 22nd in order of entry. Can only be pushed down to 24 after Saturday’s racing. Really looking forward to the Cup this year, a very open affair. For what it’s worth I like Mt Athos (especially with C.Williams aboard. No offense Ryan Moore), Verema & Masked Marvel. I give true chances to another 8 though..
November 2, 2013 at 09:55 #457010She is guaranteed a start.
I don’t know of filly and mare allowances but she has stolen home base with that weight.
All that gets in her way, I think, is the barrier. Anything inside 7 or 8 will hurt. Prefer her to be drawn wide and remain traffic-free rather than try to weave through and rely on pure turn-of-foot.
Drawn 3 for Verema.
Mount Athos out in 22 . Most of the other europeans, tres blue aside are ok.

That’s hard luck two years in succession. Heart-breaking (relatively-speaking) for his connections.
Stop Press: Latest ear-worms: ‘Giovanni Boldini’. Forgotten the others now… How mad is that!
November 3, 2013 at 19:58 #457226I’ve decided to get in on the act cobbers. I had a run through them this afternoon and I think a running on third in the St Ledger, after a botched ride by Olivier Peslier, and a keeping on 2nd in the Breeders Cup Turf, are pretty sound credentials, giving a decent chance to Sea Moon.
The rest of his form as a 4 yr old was solid, (beating Dandino, Duneden and Red Cadaux over 12 f at Goodwood and Ascot)
He fell out of the stalls on his first sortie down under, and didn’t cover himself in glory over an inadequate 1,800 metres next time. But when they stepped him up to 2,500mts next time at Flemington he showed what he is capable of, although he lost the race on protest. Next time at Caulfield their were no mistakes and he got his place in the MC.
I’ve taken the 14/1 with Betvictor, although Sportingbet are offering 16s.
November 3, 2013 at 22:13 #457239Seems to be money going on Sea Moon on oddschecker; maybe due to having a good draw perhaps?

He has a touch of class I think that many dont have. Can he give that much weight to Mount Athos, not so sure.

November 3, 2013 at 23:26 #457251I’m trying not to have a bet on Royal Empire; will someone give me a reason not to please.

Ate too many sweets on Halloween
November 4, 2013 at 07:48 #457266….because at the same price you can bet my old mate Red Cadeaux to place ?
….in GB at least: Betfair have RC 17 the place; in HK he’s only 3.4 at present, though that may be the Arculli and Mosse factor.
anyway, best of luck.

Here’s a reason. There are probably 6 or 7 horses that could be backed with similar confidence…..this looks tough.

Class horse, got me out of trouble at Royal Ascot a year or so ago, would be happy if he won this or another favourite of mine Dandino.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
November 4, 2013 at 12:32 #457285Well, the S.O. was goin past a bookies this morning so I couldn’t resist the Royal Empire bet. So that’s Dandino, Simenon, Verema and Royal Empire. Tempted by Dear Demi and Seville but seem to be doing well with my ‘sticking to 4 horses in handicaps’ regime [won’t last till the National, though]. Would have wanted Mount Athos to win but, from being a huge fan and thinking he was a breath of fresh air I’ve gone off the horses owner [which shouldn’t be a factor, I know ]
November 4, 2013 at 15:48 #457294Verema looks like an outstanding each way bet to me.
November 4, 2013 at 16:28 #457296With six of the runners – a quarter of the field – owned by one man and trained by one trainer, Ed Dunlop raises a concern:
November 4, 2013 at 16:51 #457300SEVILE and MASKED MARVEL for me it is
November 4, 2013 at 16:59 #457301Ibicenco, Fawkner and Dear Demi are the best horses for trends, so I’m hoping it’ll be one of them.

So don't run, just like the others always do
