I haven’t even looked at it, this year. I don’t know what I do with my time since I retired but it just slips away [think the new dog, daughters dog that I look after a lot of the time and the grandchildren are responsible.]…was thinking about Joseph O’Brien last night and wondered how much being a jockey has helped him with his training as he seems peerless when it comes to shipping them all over the world and winning with them.
November 3, 2019 at 21:45 #1473909I added Twilight Payment ew at 60s 4pl and 50s 6pl.
OK he’s 6 years old but he is a good genuine horse who usually runs his race, gets the trip and isn’t overly ground dependent. Has local jockey on top. Wide draw but whatevs, it’s a 2 mile race and it’s not exactly Chester, or Santa Anita.Back in the spring Jim Bolger was murmuring about bringing him here, and he is now trained by O’Brien Jr. who – given the types of horses and owners he has- I suspect will dominate this race for years to come.
November 4, 2019 at 02:59 #1473926I think Youngstar at a huge 50/1 has a real shout here. She went
off at 10/1 here last year, and bar not getting a run 2f out she would most
likely have finished closer than her 5 3/4L 6th position. She has sneaked in
on bottom weight, having done very little in a number of races since, but
last time out she showed improvement when finishing 3rd in the decent Bentley
St Leger Stakes. I reckon this has been the plan since last year and she has
conveniently hidden her form under a bushel. I’d be surprised if she wasn’t
half those odds by off time.Hi Moe, as you probably know from the past few year, I’ll be up burning the midnight
oil on here right up to the race. I’ve had a check and it seems that a few stations
will broadcast it live. I’ve listed a couple of the more likely links below, but I’ll
be here hopefully listening to the patter of the 2 guys that had my sides sore laughing
at their ozzie banter in the few hours lead up to the big race. I think this is the station
I listened to last year ………..https://radio.abc.net.au/stations/grandstand/live
As an alternative there is also another sport station ……..
https://tunein.com/radio/RSN-Racing–Sport-927-s3007/
I’ve checked both links and they are working. I see you have mentioned you like Joseph O’Brien
as a trainer, he has a couple of likely ones in Master Of Reality and Latrobe running. I’ll catch
up with you in the early hours tomorrow morning
November 4, 2019 at 11:46 #1473939To be honest I proper fancy one in this !!
FINCHE was fourth in this last year and the trainer has been running it over shorter trips since and 8/1 is a big price six places!!
I have had smaller each way bets ob three others for various reasons.
MIRAGE DANCER has form with Mer De Glace and is four times the price 33/1
IL PARADISO on Strad form has a chance 14/1
YOUNGSTAR at 33/1 is another one that ran well in it last year and is probably too big a price!!Good Luck Guys
and get the matchsticks ready to keep your eyes open
November 4, 2019 at 13:46 #1473951Not sure what UK channels it is on, but for those wanting to watch it live.
http://www.racing.com has full live coverage. Quite good as well.
Just need to register to watch ( free )
November 4, 2019 at 15:03 #1473960Thanks guys; need to have an afternoon nap now so I can burn the midnight oil.
November 4, 2019 at 19:07 #1473989Latrobe 50-1 ew antepost.
No strong opinion really.
November 4, 2019 at 19:38 #1473994Vow and Declare; Steel Prince; Downdraft; Prince of Arran; Surprise Baby and Youngstar. Hope I don’t add to them throughout the night. Read that, if it’s G/S best to go for a double figure draw. Would like Vow and Declare to win because, as an honorary Aussie for one day in the year I’d kind of like a local horse to win. Darn it; just saw raymo has picked Mirage Dancer and that had the highest RPR so will have to add it. Seems Il Paradiso is the talking horse but even I can’t back them all [well, I can and often do…..
]November 4, 2019 at 19:58 #1473996already had fingers burnt on marmelo just a few small bets on mustajeer, mirage dancer and master of reality
its live on sky sports racing (old atr) as it is every year.
November 4, 2019 at 20:04 #1473997Downdraft and Southern France for me.
November 4, 2019 at 20:06 #1473998Raymond Tusk a token selection.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 4, 2019 at 20:16 #1474000An interesting read on how Constantinople ended up half way round the world.
Probably done well with it already, considering he won a G1 with the other one on it’s first run for him.
November 4, 2019 at 20:18 #1474001Botchy, what’s your thoughts on the draw?
I seem to remember a bias, and I don’t like 22 for Latrobe if that’s the case.
November 4, 2019 at 20:22 #1474003I’d always read to go for 7-14 [and latterly 5-14] but all the 10 year stats that I used to go by have gone out the window now!
November 4, 2019 at 20:40 #1474007Botchy, what’s your thoughts on the draw?
I think you need a good passage more than a good draw VTC. I remember that race Heartbreak City come second in and he was drawn widest of all and the winner was just a couple of stalls away from him.
November 4, 2019 at 20:43 #1474009Thanks Moe and Botchy
