I threw a few quid the way of Latrobe last year, and I’d love to see him take it in this time around. Although a bit disappointed with him at Ascot, in hindsight, it wasn’t that bad.
I’m hoping to see more encouraging signs in The Curragh Cup, but my main hope for him is at Melbourne.
He’s currently a generous looking 50’s….

Not quoted on that list, but also on my radar, and running this weekend, is Norway. I’m fairly confident that he’s better than we’ve seen so far this year, and I can see the potential for him to head here.
Others on the shortlist…..
Buckhurst
Cleonte
Prince of Arran
Rostropovich…but early days of course, and nothing bet yet.
Main fancy for now though is
Latrobe 50’s
June 28, 2019 at 00:55 #1447093I’d almost be tempted to take the 20/1 about Cross Counter. Surely guaranteed a run and he was so impressive in this last year. Race didn’t go to plan at Ascot and he’ll be better stepped down in trip. Of the remainder, Master Of Reality makes obvious appeal after the Gold Cup run and connections will target this.
Don’t know much about the Aussie contingent but will give them a good look much closer to the time. I’ll hold off betting anything until we know more about the weights.
June 28, 2019 at 10:32 #1447111I had some 25s about Master Of Reality the other day after watching back the GC run. Certainly looks to have the right profile for the race.
June 28, 2019 at 13:17 #1447118Seen as it is basically a handicap, a point worth noting is that the Aussies have scrapped the WFA allowance for a Euro 3 year old from now on.
June 28, 2019 at 13:34 #1447120Thanks for that information, Botchy. Won’t be long before they ask the Europeans to start a furlong behind the Aussies.
June 28, 2019 at 18:47 #1447145Good stuff Botchy, if you could do your usual, and keep us all in the loop with updates throughout the year, I’d be happy with that, cheers.
June 29, 2019 at 14:11 #1447277I do love this race + I will definitely have a long range punt.
I am undecided right now between Flag of Honour at 33-1 + Withold at 40-1
June 30, 2019 at 13:20 #1447338Flag of Honour an interesting shout Buckers.
Happy enough with Latrobe and Buckhurst over the weekend, and though the 50’s is gone for Buckhurst, not that bothered, as holding off for now anyway.
July 7, 2019 at 17:53 #1447939I agree with that comment Kris. I think that he’s a horse to follow.
I would definitely add him to my list now.
August 7, 2019 at 09:26 #1450626Not much to update on, except Rekindling has been retired.
August 7, 2019 at 23:22 #1450669Falcon Eight with only 5 runs might be one for next year.
August 29, 2019 at 13:24 #1452352Entries out…..

Buckhurst probably my main hope right now, and having missed the 50’s, I was kicking myself, as he went low as 20’s, but now back at 50’s, so very tempted.
No major change to the shortlist, which currently looks like this, but will no doubt be totally different come the day….
Buckhurst 50’s
Prince of Arran 33’s
Rostropovich 33’s
Il Paradiso 50’s
Latrobe 33’sAugust 29, 2019 at 13:45 #1452354Gone for Withhold, and now on Latrobe at 50s.
September 10, 2019 at 12:55 #1453294Weights out. 51 KG was the lowest to get in last year.

September 11, 2019 at 10:32 #1453378I’ve taken the 50’s for Buckhurst, and tempted by Latrobe same price.
Probably know more after Sunday, as both could potentially take in Irish Leger.
With a year down under, under his belt, I still think that 33’s is big for Rostropovich, but I think having two at this stage is too many, never mind three.
September 12, 2019 at 11:33 #1453739September 16, 2019 at 00:51 #1455119I was quite underwhelmed by Latrobe at The Curragh, but happy enough with Buckhurst at Leapordstown.
Unfortunately, after Leapordstown, Norway is very high on my shortlist, and I was looking to trim the shortlist, not add to it.
Thankfully can’t bet him just now, as he’s got entries all over the place, but interesting at 50’s.
