I recently interviewed Mark Blandford, founder of Sportingbet – in four parts he talks of his family ties with racing and the Scudamore family and that his grandfather rode at the first Cheltenham festival. His humble bookmaking beginnings with a back-street betting shop which grew to five with the help of some professional punting before selling up and forming Sportingbet. The rapid rise then an overnight crash which saw millions wiped from the company. This is illuminating stuff for people interested in racing, betting and business.
