Jockeys, owners and trainers should have nothing to do with bookmakers.Bookmakers are the enemy of the people.

Fact is that as the gambling marines bark on here occasionally:

    (1) punting decisions are made in split seconds

. Betting shop punters are bombarded with persuasions to make wagers and it is no wonder if joe bloggs’s decision to have a punt is strengthened if McCoy or someone else recommends a bet.

All a bookmaker wants anyone to do is lose.

They know that gambling is addictive and the addicted go on playing long after fun, novelty and gain vanish from the activity, so they don’t even have to worry about about people seeing it for it is. When great men such as McCoy get involved it somehow saddens me.

    (2) The best and most sensible advice anyone in the game can give is this ‘9.9 times out of 10 put your money back in your pocket and walk out of the shop’

    .
And you know that is true.

I’ve highlighted two points I take issue with Prof.

    (1) I reckon the people who make punting decisions in split seconds are the ones who lose. No punting decision should be made in a split second, surely :?

    (2) Here’s some advice I’d give: if you haven’t decided what you’re betting on before you enter the betting office it’s best keep your money in your pocket.

Punting decisions shouldn’t be of the split second nature, and imo there’s simply not enough information in a bookies to make a sound judgement on a race.

No matter how much you complain the facts don’t change: you are not forced to have a bet; you are not forced to listen to McCoy etc.; luck can play a part in betting but over a long period of time I believe that with the law of swings and roundabouts luck evens out. Sometimes your horse sticks his head down at the right time in a photo, sometimes not.
