July 9, 2005 at 16:51 #92698You’re the high priestess doling out rights and wrongs on EVERY GOD DAMN THREAD THAT EVER EXISTED
Hahaha
The Minstrel,
You’ve been a member here for a month.
Take it from someone who’s been here for years, Ian has cut back significantly on his posting in the last few months.
You should have seen what it was like a couple of years ago!
In my opinion, there’s been a significant reduction in the amount of activity on TRF (not just by Ian) and that’s a bad thing.
Topics which previously would have previously generated a number of replies and interesting views are now going unanswered.
People like Ian, who have a number of opinions, often contraversial, on a number of different topics are keeping TRF ticking along during this period.
That’s why I was glad to see the recent return of Dungheap and Insomniac to the lounge (even though I usually disgree with them!) and the recent arrival of Aranalde.
So, before we criticise Davies for sharing too many of his opinions, we should maybe ask those lurking non-posting members to share some of theirs.
And, if they do, there might be so many topics that even Ian can’t join in them all.
Steve

I’m sure there’s plenty here who will support me.
I’ll take Ian’s ramblings over the muck you post anyday, Minstrel.
July 9, 2005 at 17:02 #92700Unfortunately some members are probably leading busier lives than Ian, so he’s left with little else to do. ;)
Hopefully I’ll be posting more over the next couple of months (till September at least before my third year of my degree begins to take over!)
July 9, 2005 at 17:14 #92704I know my life is easier than yours – I don’t understand the ins and outs of betting exchanges for a start, although tomorrow I begin my 8 week summer job (boring).
Still I’ve got a way to go to beat your overall number of posts – mainly because after all, you are the Almighty, and you know far more than me or any other forumite.
July 10, 2005 at 15:28 #92712Minstrel, I’d far rather read one of Ian’s postings than yours; his are well constructed and easily read, which cannot be said for yours. I also think insulting Ian’s wife is taking things one step too far and such comments chould not belong on what, generally, is a friendly site.
July 10, 2005 at 15:39 #92714When one hears the name minstrel one expects good wholesome sweet music, not the raucous, ignorant cawings that seem to eminate from you.
I suggest you contact admin to change your name to somethng far more appropriate to your ravings, but of course they would not allow the words that describe you.
July 10, 2005 at 15:43 #92716I’d echo Jane’s comments if I were a small cave. I’m not, so I’ll give my own. I’m in no doubt Ian has an opinion on everything!!! but it’s to the benefit of this forum that he does.
If you want to abuse people Minstrel go to the Betfair forum, it’s common practice there.
July 10, 2005 at 15:57 #92718The Minstrel, is the subject of this topic, homosexuality, or Ian Davies?
If it’s about your opening post, then discuss it and put forward your opinion with something, anything constructive to back it up. Posting abuse just makes for tedious reading, especially when there is no amusing substance to it.
Ian, just because somebody is not in support of homosexuality and the promotion of it, they shouldn’t automatically be lablelled homophobic. To me, it is just another opinion as long as it isn’t abusive, or are you implying that a view contrary to your own or the ‘politically correct’ merchants in our society is not welcome and should be eradicated?
Believe it or not, I haven’t always agreed with all of your opinions, welcome though they are, but isn’t that the nature of a forum?
July 10, 2005 at 16:16 #92722The Minstrel
I note that whilst a number of forumites have disagreed with you, you have as yet been unable to muster a single supporting voice.
I note also that you have yet to apologise for the so-called joke you made just minutes after the news of the London bombings broke. That suggests to me that you still think it was funny or acceptable, which places you beneath contempt.
For the record, Ian Davies makes an interesting contribution to this forum. To date all you have contributed is childish abuse, grotesquely offensive ‘jokes’ and a remarkably inept grasp of the English language.
July 10, 2005 at 16:43 #92723My feelings are generally similar to yours, ‘I’m merely tolerant of it, as I am of most things providing they don’t impact adversely on the lives of others.’ but I feel that anybody who puts forward an opinion contrary to supporting homosexuality, is immediately labelled homophobic and if possible isolated. I’m looking at this in general, not just on this forum.
I see no problem with people expressing a view against homosexuality, as long as it is put forward constructively and with respect, much the same as an opinion on foxhunting or the invasion of Iraq.

If I am slightly annoyed with anyone, it’s TRF admin.
I know they have busy lives (don’t we all?), but Daylight was quick enough to intervene to protect Barry Dennis from Wallace’s and my personal opinions of him and the way he operates, yet a homophobic, abusive, individual like you has been allowed to operate here unrestricted for some time, and I am not the first forumite you have been grossly offensive to.
Maybe Daylight is away (in which case it might have been an idea to leave someone – the excellent ‘Matron’ perhaps?) with full admin powers to deputise, and freeze posting rights pending Daylight’s return in such situations?
Luckily we run the forum how we see fit without being pressured by members, the administration is done in a fair manner for all, whether you believe it or not I don’t care. If I had thought the poster was not out of order he would have stayed but in my opinion he crossed the line to far – end of story. Also, please don’t insinuate me excersing double standards Ian as people in glass houses should not throw stones!
July 10, 2005 at 20:15 #92727July 10, 2005 at 21:19 #92728Ian,
Yes, and Admin also has the right to defend itself like any other member when members post pedantic comments.
The member in question who made those remarks that you are referring to is no longer here, so I haven’t overlooked the matters at all or attached more "importance" to your criticisms, have I?
July 10, 2005 at 22:41 #92730Quote: from Ian Davies on 9:11 pm on July 10, 2005[br]Yes, Daylight, I thought you’d probably attach more importance to me criticising an aspect of your moderation than someone insulting my wife, and you didn’t disappoint me.
For the record, I still think TRF is the best racing forum on the web
Your an interesting cookie Davies , well actually not that interesting , you attempt to make issues , quite correctly about an ex member who was insulting but as soon as someone you ask assistance from ie Daylight , which they intervened on your behalf and removed the offending words, you then question the ones who helped you . Your posts to DL are like a double edged sword , you attack then you backtrack . I find that very strange , a character flaw
Granted your use of LOL is now thankfully a distant memory , but unfortuantly its been replaced by the winking smiley
Dispite the members rally round to you , you were only the lesser of the two asses
Your still a plonker in my book
Wouldnt trust you as far as I could throw you
July 13, 2005 at 19:48 #92732You cannot say that you work hard Davis.
Your name is always on the forums last 60 minutes visitors bit.
All I can say is that you must have so much spare time on your hands.
Not like us students, eh, Mesh ;)
July 13, 2005 at 20:14 #92735You must be getting old dear boy.
It took you 11 minutes to post that and that included an edit.
Work to me means being focused on one thing old chap.
Not playing about on electronic stuff like the Interweb thingy.
Focus old chap on your buisness and it might get busyier.
Spelled busyier wrong by the way. I think!
