The photos thing does depress me too, every upload of a photo is a task in itself. Hoping the new iteration will make this a lot easier.
I should have mentioned – number one on my list of mental priorities was to get rid of the ‘registration/login’ pop up, and it’s been confirmed this will be so.
Gamble – I’ll rustle up a ‘state of the nation’ address as a farewell to this site before we rise again. Burial sites are best left undisturbed, you never know what lurks under the tombstones.
November 28, 2014 at 23:35 #496746Steve – just on PM thing on here – messages are in outbox until other person reads it. It is actually sent, just not opened, if it is sitting there. Strange, but that is how it works.
November 29, 2014 at 08:53 #496780Have you decided on a colour for the new site?
Green is the colour we turfistes adore so here’s 50 shades for you to contemplate

I like Forest Green, Moss Green, Dartmouth Green and Russian Green

Sounds just grand owd lad. I will regale my guests with tales from the Golden Oldie Days of 10% betting tax, Extel in smoke-filled cesspits and how the Days changed their hue to Blue when the Exchanges ruined everythingAah yes…one was always in with a shout via Extel!
And making
rapid
late headway is…
The dreadful corollary of being able to
see
the bad news several furlongs out is the destruction of vain hope in favour of that ‘reality’ thing.
The idea that today’s whippersnappers view The Game through a hideous smoke-free Ladbrokes portal on Windows 8 is a surely tragic denial of their due rites of (gambling) passage.
And also finishing well is…

November 29, 2014 at 22:06 #496916could we have a politically correct, punctuation perfect zone
Hurrah – I thought nobody would ever ask. Set that up, and I’ll come back full time.

I think us "old" heavy
writers are suffering
burn out. Look at Davies
his output must be a
fortieth of what it was !
I just like to see
the occasional name
pop up. Doesn’t really
matter what they say
really
I don’t know what the writing format
is going to be and the large bold
words written on here on IKON
are particularly attractive to the eye.
I also do not think Grimes will be
comfortable quoting
God’s words in small print.I like the present colour
it is about the only thing
that is warming at present !December 2, 2014 at 11:19 #497160Please tell me you’re not going to the latest version of vBulletin which seems awful. Another site I use moved to it and had so many problems they’ve actually rolled back the forum to the previous version again.
Please, PLEASE, don’t put dark coloured text again a dark coloured background. Red text on a black background may look great, but it’s hell to try and read which is what the forum is all about after all. Frankly, there’s nothing wrong with black text on a white background – really.

Amen a thousand times over to that! Amazing how many sites try to come up with a ‘novel’ colour layout, when black on white has been successful from William Caxton to the Kindle Paperwhite!
