Oh dear first race of Punchestown Festival and Ma Chara took an awful somersault not too far from home in the cross country. He got up immediately and set off following at a canter but was carrying his near hind very awkwardly – looks like a bad injury to lower limb … Poor lad had run a cracker and looked likely for a place … No news on Attheraces as yet but if/when it comes I don’t think it will be positive … However fingers crossed …
April 29, 2014 at 15:08 #477277So relieved to see him get to his feet quickly only to notice he was holding his hind leg up
fingers crossed!
Not a good start to the festival!April 29, 2014 at 15:27 #477278Typical. … No news that I’ve heard and we’ve just had the next race … This horse was cantering in front of the stands and surely someone from tv saw what happened … ???
April 29, 2014 at 15:40 #477279I saw the incident as everyone else saw it. Watching on ATR but I’ve heard absolutely nothing so far unless I’ve missed something (I habitually mute the telly whenever the adverts come on). The comments in running haven’t come through either.
I’m hoping that no news is good news but it really didn’t look good the way his leg was hanging
April 29, 2014 at 15:43 #477280They do annoy me … ATR must have people watching/reporting even if the commentators are working from the screen …
April 30, 2014 at 15:56 #477390I have emailed Punchestown … and await reply …
May 8, 2014 at 16:45 #478401Well I’ve had to wait for the weekly dreaded list … and as I feared he’s on it … RIP … hideous fall and a very brave horse to get up and go after his mates … RIP brave warrior
