It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 21, 2021 at 07:28 #1573582Absolutely crazy. But petty little bureaucrats like Drakeford just love pushing people around and telling them what to do. For their own good, of course.
December 21, 2021 at 08:51 #1573588Christ, you’ll be at more risk in the scrum for turkeys at your local Tesco this afternoon than you will in the open Chepstow air.
December 21, 2021 at 09:05 #1573589Drakeford loved doing this
That mock sorrowful voice and yet everytime hes been gagging to bring restrictions
December 21, 2021 at 09:45 #1573593Has there ever been a worse time to be Welsh?
I guess the concern is that, being a Winter meeting, many will be indoors a lot of the time.

There is no concern. Drakeford is doing it just because he can and it also looks like he is being tougher than Westminster.
December 21, 2021 at 13:02 #1573613We are seriously being told to believe it is not OK to stand outside to watch racing in the Monmouthshire countryside – but it is OK to go to Alexandra Palace to “watch” the darts and spend all night shouting and boozing with no masks or social distancing.
As Mr Scrooge said “I’ll retire to Bedlam”.
December 21, 2021 at 14:00 #1573620No CAS. Nice Try.
We are NOT “seriously being told to believe”
You seem to be on a one man mission to confuse and twist everything about this pandemic.Chepstow is in Wales with Welsh Labour administration.
Alexandra Palace is in England with English Conservative administration.Just as there are across the globe different countries have different rules.
…And you do need masks at Alexandra Palace together with also all the vaccine passport stuff.

Unlike Sage, who openly admit to presenting only worst case scenario advice to the government, which is having a real impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. But you seem OK with that.
December 21, 2021 at 14:23 #1573624No CAS, as I said in another post, Governments need to take into account the near worst case scenario, otherwise if happening that worse case scenario would be even worse. If not doing so then they would not be doing their job or indeed their duty to protect us. However, As I understand it the Government are producing three possible sets of rules in England anyway – which surely is a good thing?.
One to bring in if Omicron is towards the higher end of what Sage (and all other health groups) believes possible.
One to bring in if Omicron is towards the middle of what Sage (and all other health groups) believes possible.
And one to bring in if Omicron is towards the lower end of what Sage (and all other health groups) believes possible.
Value Is EverythingDecember 21, 2021 at 14:23 #1573625I am well aware of the governing arrangements in the UK, Ginger.
Thanks to Tony Blair’s meddling, we have an Assembly in Wales which even lots of Welsh people did not want. When the referendum was held, the vote was 50.3% in favour with 49.7% against (and a clear majority against in Cardiff itself).
Funnily enough, no one ever asked for a second referendum on this issue despite the result being far closer than the Brexit vote nearly 20 years later. But of course this time it was the “right” result according to the political Establishment.
This means we now have the potential for ridiculous anomalies, such as the difference in Covid policies. Apparently the virus is much deadlier when it crosses the River Wye into Monmouth.
Wales has also had vaccine passports and had a series of circuit breaker lockdowns. They have not made the slightest difference to infection rates but I suppose you will just ignore that clear evidence again and just have a go at me instead.
December 21, 2021 at 14:37 #1573630Likely to be similar restrictions in Scotland for the next three weeks as outdoor events are limited to an attendance of 500 from 27th December for up to 3 weeks. Once all those directly involved are included plus owners then that presumably means no paying spectators at racing over that period.
December 21, 2021 at 14:46 #1573632I’ve said on other posts CAS, how I believe both Wales and Scotland brought in vaccine passports far too early. ie It was not needed when severe cases and deaths from covid were comparatively rare and knowing more about Delta.
Does not matter whether I was in favour of devolution or against, it is here. But that does not mean it / they are “ridiculous anomalies”. On this issue under devolution Wales has as much rights as France to different covid rules to England.
Value Is EverythingDecember 21, 2021 at 17:04 #1573669Latest measures in Scotland suggest and admission from the Scottish Government that covid passports weren’t achieving much.
If I may take up Cork All Star’s point, the difference between one side of the Wye Valley and the other is that those west of the Wye at least have a plan which is more than can be said of the Westminster Government. Similarly Scotland has a plan and a leader competent enough to understand it and follow through with it.
Today’s Covid discussions in the Scottish Parliament were telling in that there was no questioning of the measures taken by Douglas Ross the Conservative Leader in Holyrood. His only quibbles were regarding funds to help out business and, as Nicola Sturgeon pointed out, Scotland is hostage to Westminster for much of that funding (Yeah, yeah, can of worms, I know).
Speaking personally I felt a damned sight safer at Musselburgh Racecourse yesterday than I do in Dunfermline town centre or Tesco.
December 21, 2021 at 17:19 #1573674Further to the above…
Kelso have just emailed to say that crowd for December 29th will be capped to 500 and that Annual Members can attend. I’ve become a member at Musselburgh for 2022 as well, so it could be I can attend the January meetings there. We shall see.
December 21, 2021 at 17:22 #1573675A plan which is proven not to work. Has Wales done better throughout this year? It kept masks in the summer, introduced vaccine passports and its infection rate was higher than England’s. Scotland’s rate was higher as well.
It is really stretching credulity to suggest they have done better.
