i havent given up on BJK, i have it in my profile list as follows………left handed galloping tracks, (1111111001) ascot wouldnt suit imo.
hardy eustace i have in my book as…………..on good going,(010111001) so the going may have been a contibuting factor, chipmunkDecember 22, 2007 at 21:34 #131595Yes I did Triple Crown and Charlie D.
A good day all round.
December 22, 2007 at 22:57 #131601Once again, TDK’s blind, almost touching, faith in Jonjo O’ Neill is not repaid. You’re going to have to let it go, my friend. Much as it goes against the grain, try following another stable.
December 22, 2007 at 23:57 #131609If Lough Derg even places in the World Hurdle, I’ll run round Cheltenham naked
As much as I’m not going to make such bold wagers, I couldn’t agree more.
Lough Derg was given way too big a lead by the only 3 capable of beating him, especially considering he was a 1L 2nd in the race last year. And as it turned out, I don’t think any of the three stayed, HE’s class got him ahead of the rest IMO.I’d like to lay anything from that race for even a place in the WH, but I can’t find enough in the way of decent horses amongst the staying hurdlers to beat them!

Its an awful division. Apart from the staying chasing division the others are all pretty poor – 2m hurdling, 2m chasing and staying hurdlers.
I wouldn’t completely rule Lough Derg out as its the first time I remember him being allowed to dictate like that over this sort of trip. Its unlikely to happen at Cheltenham but forcing tactics may make life difficult for the rest and lets be honest what is there to beat? As far as I can see it one horse – Ingles Drever. If he falls / gets injured / doesn’t turn up for some reason the race is wide open.

Second to Mighty Man in the same race with the exact same tactics. Actually led going over the last.
Fair do’s.
Maybe he’s a horse that just likes Ascot?
December 23, 2007 at 02:06 #131613I don’t think Black Jack K. will be better over 2m because, unlike most decent 2milers, he doesn’t have a strong finishing kick.
I think he’s better at 3m because at that trip (in a weakish race), he can run smoothly at the same speed behind the leaders, wait for them to tire and slow down, and cruise by them without needing to change gear. A 2m race would be too aggressive IMO: could you imagine him trying to get past Hardy over that trip? He’s like a slower, less fluent Harchibald.
But how is him being entered in ‘weakish’ 3m races any kind of standard to set for him, unless you are happy for him to do f*#ck all for the rest of his career?
He has raced and won over 3m before but apparently has now been found out at a higher level and I don’t see much of a future for him to be honest at any distance, he just doesn’t seem to find anything when it counts now and has been and gone, he has an outstanding record when you look at what he has achieved as a win ratio but I just feel those wins will stay in the past.
December 23, 2007 at 02:13 #131614Black Jack doesn’t have a finishing kick because he’s knackered and running on almost empty at the end of his races. Its not easy to produce a Dancing Brave turn of foot when you’re shagged out and just keep running up and down at one pace.
Tell ya now – If he runs in the Champion Hurdle you’ll see the real Black Jack Ketchum.
December 23, 2007 at 02:14 #131615I lost too much on BJK to think straight
Discard anything of Jonjo’s on recent form, in future races, you do so at your peril and that includes BJK

Quite the opposite. The only faith I have in Jonjo O’Neill is that he will ruin every half decent horse in his care….

According to Willo’ in today’s RP and based on the sectionals, Hardy Eustace was actually slowing down at the finish. With the stop-go pace and ground bordering on g/f that suggests you can forget about him lasting home in the World Hurdle.
December 24, 2007 at 16:04 #131776Question is was LD slowing down as well? I though HE made up some ground on LD from the turn then eased very slightly when could not win. Would Inglis Dreaver have confirmed his form with Special Envoy and still have been behind HE & LD Something just does not ring true about that race to me.

You guys have completely lost the plot and your statements are totally unfounded and bordering on idiotic.
Have you ever heard of Exotic Dancer? The horse that has gone from 123 rating to 168 rating since Jonjo started training him? You know that horse who ran the best horse in the country to a length the other day and finished 2nd in the gold Cup?
Love to see a list of horses, that were any damn good that Jonjo ruined. Horses go wrong without the help of their trainers every day of the week and only someone with absolutely no conception of the problems trainers routinely face would make such statements.
Jonjo’s record riding legend and he is one of the top trainers in racing.
Right now his yard is going through a bad spell…….nothing is running well and obviously the horses are unwell…….to kick a man when he is down is taking a cheap shot.
Your talking about a man who was one of the best Jockeys of all time and a man who sent out 126 winners last season. taking home just under 2 million pounds in prize money.
Some trainers don’t have that amount of winners in there lifetime. Ok maybe they havn’t had the backers Jonjo has, but he never got where he is because he doesn’t know what he’s doing.
Quite frankly you are talking crap.
December 24, 2007 at 17:30 #131780I can only speak for myself, FoF, but my remarks were tongue-in-cheek.
December 24, 2007 at 17:35 #131781Anyone remember Pipe senior sending out Deano’s Beano to beat THE LEGEND BARACOUDA at 14/1 in the long walk?
Bit of a family tradition turning over the jolly in the race.
Well done David, a superb training performance.
