I have had a little bit each way on Jumby. The distance is a slight concern but it does not look like the strongest Group 1.
I think Modern Games will run his race but he’s probably not improving whereas others might be. He’s rock solid on good or faster ground at a mile. If you can beat him you’ll go very close. Laurel is one obvious improver and so is My Prospero but I’m not sure about him at a mile on good ground, especially without a prep run. Another one I think could be improving but does need forgiving his prep run is Light Infantry and I’ve backed him at 12/1 as he looked overpriced if you ignored the prep run which I think flattered Mutasaabeq a bit. In fact if you ignored that run Mutasaabeq should be 12/1 at least himself.
My take
Laurel is a horse I wanted to follow but is now too short
My prospero looked like he wanted all of the 1m2f in the champion stakes, first run of the season over a mile this is a big ask
Mutasaabeq got a very easy lead last time in a much weaker race, this will be tougher
Light infantry has a habit of running well but not winning
The rest to me simply aren’t group 1 horses and it’d be a surprise if they won
This leaves Modern Games who doesn’t have the best of draws but has now drifted out to a very backable price
So my play is modern games win at 6.2 with a saver on Laurel 4.8 (simply so I don’t lose on the race if my horse to follow in the division wins)
Modern games is a 4 time group 1 winner running against horses who have never won at this level

I’m on Jadoomi but how will he be ridden today. Up with the pace on his last three runs but Jamie Spencer is in the saddle today.

out to 19s now, can only keep topping up at thatWd winners! He was much the best there, jadoomi a massive disappointment! Laying laurel to the 2 saves the day
Very close with chindit nathan, he was trading low enough there
Chindit looked very hungry as he tried to take a bite out of both Modern Games and Buick as he went past him – Buick is actually bleeding from the hand
