Hi William
Your comments about every method being a form of system are basically correct. In my own case I use form evaluation which I suppose could be interpreted as a form of system in a loose sense. Although every one comes to different conclusions with this method otherwise we would all back the same horse. I suppose I was really talking about systems that give an automatic selection, leaving no room for personal interpretation.
You ask why I have not turned professional. For me it comes down to intensity of pressure. After all there is a vast difference between a lucrative hobby and the need to put food on the table, payment of bills on time etc. Also with my methods I cannot guarentee to find a bet every day or even every week. If a serious losing run occurs I can leave it for a while and then come back refreshed which I dont think the professional can afford to do. In the end I think it comes down to what I was saying about a person being comfortable with thier approach I just think the pressure of full time betting for a living would prove to be too much As an amateur with plenty of spare cash from my hobby there is a very low pressure level.

April 23, 2003 at 18:21 #45676Hello Freebird.
I am always amazed when someone has a sound selection method, and they say they can not build up from their selections.
Freebird. In previous posts,I have stated that anyone with a logical selection approach may never need to use more than their first initial stake. It is possible to start a selection or system with a very Small Bank,And build up that bank into something worthwhile.
For Example!
Say that you had a selection method that picked 3 horses in a race, anyone of the 3 horses that paid 9/4 or more, would make you a profit. That profit no matter how small would eventually build up your bank. After a period you would be betting with larger stakes, then you would see your bank increase substantially. The only person that would need a large Bank is someone that can not get enough winning selections to recoup their loses.
Freebird.Believe me when I say that you need only an initial Bank to start with.Study the form book, try different methods of selection, keep trying until you are satisfied with that method.Your selection method or system need not be complicated,as long as it works.
Stick with it,give it time to prove itself.
But the best advice I can give is,DON’T GET GREEDY.
That is the surest way to lose your Bank.Theres always another day,<<Please God.
P.S__See my reply above to Dave Jay.Re.EXAMPLE.
Again Thanks for your reply.

May 13, 2003 at 09:43 #45678Hello Phil37.
Keep checking the results.
The Updated results are on another Post in the Systems Thread,under{ Last 3 Races Results }
I know that the system is not going to good at the moment.
This is very unusual,I have NEVER seen so many meetings go through the card without a winning Favorite.
Give it time it WILL come into the BLACK.
Phill37:Think about the Logic of this System.
Patience is what this System takes.
Good Luck.
