The ground’s turned Soft in places after last night’s rain, but next 3 days looks pretty dry, bar an odd shower or two. Looks quite breezy as well, esp overnight Friday and for Saturday.
My guess is that it’ll be good to soft on Saturday or maybe even v tacky as the ground dries out a fair bet.

I’m leaning towards Pyledriver but havent bet yet.

Hakum for me as long as the ground remains good or softer. What he did to Pyledriver last year in the Coronation Cup was phenomenal.

Overall, it has to be one of the best renewals in recent memory.

I think this looks to be a much hotter King George than some of the recent Arcs.

The question is: will the 3 year olds dominate with King of Steel maybe the better option at 9/2?

Or will the older brigade led by 11/2 shot Hukum or my other fancy Luxembourg (14/1) prove to be superior? Since none of the horses has shown abnormal improvement, I’ll go with King of Steel and have a small saver on Luxembourg.

Will be interesting to see how classy G3 performer Hamish (50/1) will handle trip and going.

    Good luck to all.

I think the Clerk of The Course is being a tad optimistic with
his G/S shout. Turftrax has it as g/s, with soft patches on the
round course. If the forecast is right, then thundery showers
are due at 11am and 1pm. If they manage to miss them it probably
will be g/s. If the thundery shows appear, depending on how heavy
they are there is a chance is could be genuinely soft.

Willie Haggas has said unless there is rain on Saturday it is more
likely that Hamish would go to Goodwood. It’s in the lap of the rain
    Gods.

Anyone looking at the round course race times yesterday would say it’s Softer than when Hamish won the Cumberland Lodge there – we shall see!

A going stick reading of 6.1 on the round course at 8am this morning didn’t persuade them evidently.

It was 5.7 when he won the Cumberland Lodge there so, in a tougher race, maybe that was the minimum reading they were needing to run.

    Official, from Ascot:
Conditions have quickened overnight at the track following minimal showers after racing on Friday, leaving the going good to soft, good in places on the round course and good on the straight course.

My 3 against the field at the prices

    Hukum 8.0
    Westover 16.0
    Luxembourg 19.0

Combined into a 3/1 shot essentially

Will hopefully be a cracking race

Tough call but King Of Steel solely on some soft form at 2YO.

Backed August Rodin last night, so encouraged by the market support this morning. I think he is better than the Irish Derby run.

King of Steel is drifting out to a good price, so will save on him.
