My long term fancy for this is Palmers Hill, and for all there’s as much of a chance that he’ll go for The Plate, I’m surprised he’s not priced for this.
There’s loads from the Elliot yard as well that appeal for this, and Grand Paradis 20’s, and Gars De Sceaux 25’s are well on the radar.
Stones and Roses is far too big at 25’s, but I’ve a feeling that targets on home soil will be priority for him.
Aramax is another I like, and this would definitely be suitable, but he’s versatile trip wise, and at this stage, could see him having a fair few options.
I like that 20’s for Grand Paradis, and it’s tempting with him running tomorrow, but I’ll wait, we’ll I’ll try and wait, for now.

Palmers HillJanuary 7, 2022 at 22:35 #1576964Did anyone else spot in GALOPIN DES CHAMPS impressive display at Leopardstown the 3rd being given a lovely (loose reigns) ride by D Russell for Mr Elliott, slowly, slowly….catchy monkey……FLOUEUR.
Very interesting as he has had two chases now and one more to get its mark over fences. 3rd in last years Martin Pipe. My one reservation is the trip. Kim Muir or the Plate?
To win any race is 16/1 ew with WH and I’ve gone for that.
FLOUEUR
January 13, 2022 at 13:32 #1577832Yogi, Floueur is a very interesting selection, and I can see the angle there. I will join you if he gets an entry.
I’m going to go for the lazy selection first of all with Glenloe. I know that every man and his dog put him up every season, and that he never ever goes. However he will be half of this price in the next few weeks, so I’ve bet him early at 20/1. I’m almost embarrassed putting him up on his recent form.
Go Another One could be worth a second chance as well.
January 13, 2022 at 15:18 #1577848Hi Autumnal, although GLENLOE (entered this weekend) is the Elliott type for a touch, personally I can’t have it now at the age of 11. I think he is vulnerable to a younger horse.
GO ANOTHER ONE ran 6th in this last year off 142 (a very good run), he has gone up to 145 which means he will be top weight if he goes here, which will be a tough ask?
FLOUEUR has only run over fences twice, running nicely and under the radar. Has collateral form over fences that put him 10 lengths behind RUN WILD FRED (a 145 horse). High potential this horse over a fence (3rd and rated 140 in Martin Pipe over hurdles). The two races so far he has jumped really well, looks uncomplicated and strides out lovely for a big stamp of a horse. If he gets a handicap mark of around 140 I honestly think this will be fav come the day, if over 145 they may drop it down in distance to the plate.
16/1 ew with WH to win any race and I’m on
Good luck with your selections…….
January 14, 2022 at 17:26 #1578007Derek O’connor jocked up on glenloe on Sunday
Strongly suggests this is the aim
Have taken the 16/1
Now to look forward to him getting injured again
January 14, 2022 at 18:56 #1578024Of the 21 winners this century, 19 were a single figure age.
January 14, 2022 at 20:16 #1578041Been done twice then

I’m more interested in floueur and will add him at some point too
Likely when NRNB comes in

He will hopefully have Jamie codd on his back
January 29, 2022 at 02:11 #1580291Grand Paradis out today, and hopefully he can jump better, and I still reckon he’s ideal for this.
First bet here, and I’ve went with Time To Get Up. Season hasn’t quite unfolded as I’d hoped it would, but providing he doesn’t shine in The National Trial, he should be perfect for this. I think there’s every chance he could go to Fairyhouse afterwards, and I still reckon he’s a very decent horse.
I’m very close to adding Mortal at 33’s, but just the one bet for now.

January 29, 2022 at 17:47 #1580509FLOUEUR wins today to boost his credentials in this. Decent beginners this today and I would encourage anyone to watch again as plenty of future winners in here.
FLOUEUR made a terrible mistake at the last but stayed on to win and no issues with him running in a big field nor staying further either.
Last season Elliott ran MOUNT IDA over 2 miles then stepped up for one run over 2:4 before the 3:2 distance of the KIM MUIR and improved again to win it.
Ever since I saw it given a “nice ride” behind GALOPIN I thought of this race. FLOUEUR was entered in this today but also entered next week in a handicap at the Dublin racing festival (won’t go there now) and was given his mark of 136. If you take into account Jordon Gainford taking off 3LB today and the handicapper gives it 5/6, he should get a mark of around 139. Add the UK handicappers thoughts and I’m hoping around 142…..lovely

Around 12’s for this now and happy with my 16/1 for any race plus went in again midweek at 20’s for this…..we shall see.
February 1, 2022 at 12:22 #1580873Janika 33/1 BOG NRNB
Probably deserves to be in the conspiracy thread than here given Saturday’s run and should be double the price really.
Half expected a poor run after reading the trainers unibet blog on Saturday morning.Probably the last person in horse racing i would listen to but it did seem a bit strange to be talking about this race when he could not get in.
He was rated 148 going into Saturday’s race and i think the cut off for this is 145.Never went a yard and was pulled up when tailed off. This morning the handicapper dropped him another 5 lbs which magically get’s him in.
February 4, 2022 at 00:27 #1581209Janika very much on my radar again Botch, but no more for me till I clock the entries.
I’d also like another watch of The Skybet, but just can’t face watching a replay of it, even if it will be edited.
February 23, 2022 at 18:02 #1584453Janika for me too, and I’ve taken a combination of the 22-1 nrnb, and the 33-1.
Also at 33-1 is Five Star Getaway, and I’ve taken him nrnb too
February 24, 2022 at 00:08 #1584475After that slog the other day, I’m glad that Time To Get Up isn’t entered. He was one of my bigger Antepost Bets, so happy to get it back.
Reverted to Grand Paradis who’s been on the radar all season for it. He has to jump better, but I’m happy that he’s the right type for this, and always the plan to bet him at some point this season. Entered for The Plate as well, but happy to have him NRNB here.
One of my biggest betting races of the week, and wouldn’t rule out another Antepost.
Janika still of real interest, but Champagne Platinum also sticking out like a sore thumb.

School Boy HoursGrand Paradis 16’s NRNB
March 3, 2022 at 17:41 #1585586A bit left field but I like Born by the Sea for this, off a mark of 140, Jay galligan will likely ride taking 7 off. he has a nice win at Galway to his name last year. Had a nice quiet intro run latest given no chance by the race conditions. 40s ew
he’s also in the plate same price so will bet him for both NRNB
March 17, 2022 at 11:54 #1587998Always liked School Boy Hours, and once declared I took the 10’s early (apologies for rocking up with that one). Janika not going has cleared it up a little, and I’ve added Mindsmadeup who’s maybe too quickly written off for an 8lb rise.
Like this pair, and had a good go.
