That’s cos the FA Cup isn’t as big a deal as it once was
What about the Champions League final, World Cup final, Wimbledon finals, Monaco Grand Prix, etc etc
Champions League Final was on the same day as the Championship play off final.
There’s no football to be played in England on World Cup final day because the season is over.
The Grand Slam tennis events take place one at a time because the players can’t be in two places at once.
Same goes for F1 drivers.Anymore for anymore?
June 4, 2011 at 14:32 #358844Another five meetings this year. That 12f handicap at Donny once again running into the back of the Derby. Let’s hope there isn’t a dog race at the same time or the Epsom showpiece might not even make it onto a split screen.
I see the two biggest handicaps of the week have just been run simultaneously. That really takes some organisation and effort from race planning (scheduling a long distance race 5 mins before the dash) down to those ensuring the 17-runner dash went off only 6 secs after the official time.
Congratulations to all concerned at Rabble HQ.
June 4, 2011 at 16:18 #358888I agree with you Glenn it is madness. With the Grand National they manage to have a long gap before and after the race so can’t see why they can’t do the same with the Derby. I heard someone say it was down to Channel 4 showing racing from Doncaster and Musselburgh, but I’m sure both courses could arrange longer gaps between their races.
June 4, 2011 at 19:25 #358939I can’t argue with the number of meetings as evidenced from me last year.
But Donny racegoers are well known for fancying a drink, a 1m4f race at 3.55 could have quite easily been moved to ten past.
June 4, 2011 at 23:14 #358968I am awaiting Gambles reply before another utterance..but truth be told I just watched the derby in the middle of a poker tourney
I can imagine its havoc for serious stay at home players , but Grayson is right , nice sunny day , get to the races , and why not
have fun

Feel sorry for Musselburgh for not getting a bete field for their 0-105 3-y-o 12f handicap. It appears owners and trainers would rather dress up and run for far less at Royal Ascot.
They also only got 7 runners for their 3 yr old sprint h’cap with £30k added. Only Barry Hills from the south was represented (he had the beaten fav)
