Which novice hurdle horses along with Novice chasers will you guys be following mine are below.
ARVIKA LIGEONNIERE
Only danger to Simonsig in arkle this horse has stacks of potential over fences. a horse i been on about for years but keeps getting injured i hope he stays fit for season.
RULE THE WORLD.
Won a maiden hurdle at 2m last week when you think horses from this yard come on for the run. he won it easy he wants further than 2m could be a Neptune novice horse but he be even better over fences.
CORBALLY GHOST
A horse from Noel Meade yard so i doubt he be a RSA horse as don’t hit form at Cheltenham. but i think he could win a novice grade one in Ireland. His form over hurdles was a grade3 win and while that form not strong he will come into his own as a chaser. he got the size and scope to be a top notch chaser
Any thoughts and what your horses.
October 22, 2012 at 23:29 #417953Royal Guardsman, Comeonginger, Horatio Hornblower, Unioniste, Fabrika, Moscow Chief, Regal Encore, Tistory, Village Vic, The New One, Wonderful Charm, Gevrey Chambertin, Far West, Captain Conan, God Of The Kop, Hinterland…….
Sorry too many for a write-up on each, just a few I’ve jotted down to keep an eye on. Hopefully some stars lie within
October 22, 2012 at 23:35 #417954Then of course there’s Simonsig but I thought that would go without saying
October 23, 2012 at 13:36 #418006There’s many more but here’s just a few thoughts on some Irish horses for the coming season:
Novice Chasers
There’s a very exciting bunch of horses going novice chasing here this season: I’ve heard from sources connected with each stable that
Mount Benbulben
,
Lyreen Legend
and
Sword Of Destiny
were all expected to win the beginners chase at the abandoned Punchestown meeting last week
. I don’t know as much about Sword Of Destiny as the other two but it will probably pay to follow these in the coming weeks. Mount Benbulben and Lyreen Legend entered over 2m 6f in Thurles this Thursday.Boston Bob
could be the best of our novice chasers I feel, although it’s hard to know before any of them jump a fence. He looks like he’ll make a smashing chaser to my untrained eye and he could be hard to beat this year.
Champagne Fever
is another Willie Mullins horse who could take high order in the novice chasing division. Others of interest are Noel Meade’s
Monksland
and
Dedigout
from the Tony Martin yard.
Novice Hurdlers
Waaheb
makes his hurdling debut in a few minutes time and could well be a leading hurdler if he retains his bumper ability. The Gigginstown trio of
Un Atout
,
Don Cossack
and
Rule The World
all look extremely promising. The plan is for
Minsk
to have another go at hurdling so it will be interesting to see if he lives up to the hype.
Forgotten Horses
Anyone know anything about
Samain
? A very good bumper horse the season before last and not seen since.
Pandorama
is another I look forward to seeing in the big staying chases, he looked supreme before damaging tendons on ground too lively in the Gold Cup.
Quito De La Roque
has the JNWine.com Champion Chase as his early season target apparently, hopefully he’ll strip fitter for it this year than last. If
Solwhit
retains the old ability he’ll surely provide an answer as to whether Hurricane Fly has still got what it takes to win a Champion Hurdle.
Surefire Winner
Voler La Vedette
October 23, 2012 at 19:27 #418047Horation Hornblower due to run in 4-55 at Worcester tomorrow.
Must go closeOctober 29, 2012 at 15:45 #418629Disappointed
Mount Benbulben
was beaten earlier, as a stayer I thought he should have been ridden more aggressively but he was well beaten all the same and it probably wouldn’t have made any difference.
Lyreen Legend
just made a very nice fencing debut there in Galway. Jumped well and showed his trademark guts in the finish. I said in the RSA thread that he was my dark horse for the race and hopefully that’s the sort of horse he’ll develop into.
October 29, 2012 at 16:57 #418637Thought there were two strong beginners chases today wouldn’t be surprised if the first 4 (Naas) and 7 (Galway) are able to win in the near future.
Take out of today though was Go Native – Nina was obviously impressed
October 29, 2012 at 22:07 #418654…I’ve got my horse for the season – Sire Collonges – there’s nothing better for me than a front running grey, and one who can jump around Cheltenham…
…he’s a sleek grey, not heavy or cumbersome… I so look forward to seeing him again…
…pity about the name – doesn’t do much for me, but we can’t have everything…

He got injured midway through the 2011 season, but he’s set to return next month.October 30, 2012 at 03:59 #418669D McCain in the Times yesterday saying a lot of his stars from last year are ‘unfeasibly handicapped’.
October 30, 2012 at 18:48 #418711Is Champion Bumper winner
Cheltenian
on the way back?
I know Destroyer Deployed and co haven’t done much to make the form of that race look special, but there were plenty of embryonic staying types to the fore there.

Let me introduce you to Slip Away….
He got injured midway through the 2011 season, but he’s set to return next month.…thank you so much for those links, yes indeed, a lovely front running grey.
Doesn’t always jump too well though I noticed – takes a few liberties – but otherwise one I think I should follow if able. All looks quite point-to-pointish, and both these Virginia tracks, Montpelier and Glenwood Park [Middleburg] remind me in different ways of Cartmel here in the Lake District, if considerably more grand than Cartmel… perhaps a touch of Barbary Castle in there somewhere…
I should love to visit Montpelier especially, being former home of President Madison. A lovely house and wonderful gardens, and later under the Du Pont’s, the racecourse as the ‘front lawn’…!

..and what a home… it looks ‘Georgian’ in character. Fascinating history if rather disturbing – the Madison’s being slave owners of course, – ‘Rebel’ country at it’s best – or worst..

Sometimes he listens to his jockey, sometimes he doesn’t. Sometimes he gets a 14-length lead and goes off course right before the final fence (2009 NY Turf Writers Cup). He doesn’t need to be in front, he’s just very difficult to rate! Paddy Young actually managed to hold him in the Colonial Cup.

Hopefully he’s matured some over his time off. He’s still just 9 years old.Unfortunately the only American jumps racing you’d be able to watch live would be the few races at parimutuel tracks (Saratoga, Colonial Downs, Belmont, etc.) in the summer.

October 31, 2012 at 21:54 #418798…that Colonial Cup race states it was a Grade 1 Hurdle… looked more like a chase to me, perhaps they are something different again…. Still, he jumped better and ran on strongly at the end. I quite enjoyed it…
Doesn’t compare with Cheltenham though and I’d be surprised if many of us could get into that, although the course itself, apart from the colour of the track, had a ‘Leopardstown’ look about it I thought.
I think Slip Away might be suited to Irish racing – I’d love to see him over this way…Thank you for the links.

I do have a flick through the RP stable tours, often find them a decent pointer of sorts, but in the main they’re just a few good young horses I found along the way.
