A profitable day but disappointed with the Frankel’s who were just not quite good enough. I wouldn’t give up on either of them and expect them to go different ways in terms of distance. Delighted that Ajman drifted out to 6’s – that was a real gift. She trounced them and hopefully will go on to better things. Will post a couple for tomorrow soon.

So I’ll be mid-air when it all takes place tomorrow but hoping the following will go well for me. I think Somehow will prove far too good for her rivals. Her master trainer seems to have yet again got his string clicking just in time and she has the best form as well. I’m surprised she is as big as 11-4. I can’t get those odds but I have taken 5-2. I am already on Fair Eva for the Guineas but have had a little bit on Unforgettable Filly as well. Jac has told me how much they think of her at HP’s and she might just run into a place. Of course they have the fav to beat but I am very hopeful that Fair Eva can run a massive race. My last bet is on Qaaraat who I liked the look of at Newbury.

    £100 win Somehow – 5-2 – Dahlia winner
    £25ew Unforgettable Filly – 25-1 – 1,000 Guineas loser
    £100ew Fair Eva – 12-1 (already advised)
    £40 win Qaaraat – 9-4 – 4.10 Newmarket loser
£2 win patent and £5 win treble

So a couple of bets to add to yesterday. I can’t help thinking that 14’s is too big about Hydrangea. She doesn’t know how to run a bad race, stays a mile, handles the track and ground and can exploit any weakness in the fav. Aiden has his team primed so I have also combined the O’Brien three in some forecasts and tricasts.

    £25ew Hydrangea – 14-1 – 1,000 Guineas lost
£5 comb forecast Rhododendron, Hydrangea, Winter winner
£5 comb tricast Rhododendron, Winter, Hydrangea and Fair Eva. loser

Quick bet from Dubai. I liked Omneeya first time out at Newbury and expect her to go close at a bankable price.

    £25ew Omneeya – 9-2 – 7.40 Chelmsford lost
£15 rev f/c Omneeya and Alnaas

Obviously being a big fan of Shutter Speed I think the race she ran inn last time was a good one. That theory will be put to the test tomorrow as the very likeable Enable runs at Chester.

    £100 win Enable – 2-1 – Chester 2.25 winner

Thanks Greenasgrass. She was really impressive wasn’t she?! Just hope she doesn’t spoil my Oaks bet on Shutter Speed!

    Hi Joni

I keep getting stung antepost but like most punters can’t help myself have a antepost gamble. I’m looking at the derby at the moment and Cracksman seems to me be the strongest player at the top of rhe market. Even though he’s a Frankel colt I’ve noticed you’re not playing. His time in a traditionally weak trial was 6 seconds slower than standard in a slowly run affair which did not suit. Just wondering your what thoughts are

    Thanks in advance pal

Hi Wasps – I would dearly love Cracksman to be a Derby horse. I just couldn’t back him at current prices. Good luck to those who got the bigger prices but I think he is now priced up on what he might be rather than on what he has achieved. Saying that, he did very well to win that race at Epsom and the runner-up franked the form next time so next week will tell us a lot more. But with Ballydoyle yet to fire some of their big guns and no clear plan on Churchill I would rather wait a day or two and watch another couple of trials.

A couple of bets tomorrow at one of my favourite meetings. It is nearly 1am here in Dubai so i’ll be brief.

I think Ryan will dictate from the front on Deauville and he will be hard to pass. I think Royal Artillery will run much better this time though and so have done a forecast. Frankie has the plum draw on Via Egnatia and again should be hard to pass but Rebel De Lope is on a handy mark considering some of the form he has in the book. Finally the classic trial looks a tricky race. I like the Godolphin horse but he has been backed in so I am having a few quid on Count Octave at a big price for a stable in good form and a horse that is well regarded. He won a tin pot maiden but the runner up franked the form yesterday.

    £50 win Deauville 15-8 – 2.25 Chester winner
    £20 rev f/c Deauville/Royal Artillery lost
    £25 win Via Egnatia – 4-1 – 3.00 Chester lost
    £25ew Rebel De Lope – 10-1 – 3.00 Chester lost
    £25ew Count Octave – 16-1 – 3.35 Chester lost
    £1ew Patent

A couple of early bets in France for the weekend. Two horses I really like, Senga in the French 1,000 Guineas is a bigger price than I thought she’d be. She has a great turn of foot this filly. I am also surprised to see 13-2 about Orderofthegarter in the 2,000. I think he is potentially very decent and don’t be put off by the booking of Seamie Heffernan instead of Ryan Moore as Seamie has ridden him the last twice and so has probably been allowed to keep the ride.

    £100 win Senga 3-1 – French 1,000 lost
    £75ew Orderofthegarter – 13-2 – French 2,000 lost

Thanks Wasps! It really shows the value of going racing as I saw him in the paddock at Newbury and thought he looked a really strong muscular type and then he finished like a train that day. I was worried tonight as he looked a bit excited in the paddock but he did the job well. Good to be back in front.

    :) :) :) it’s on the tip of my tongue…….!

I backed Glitter Girl the other day when she was a non-runner. I’ll have a good look in the morning mate – thanks for the heads-up.

I’ve just had a little bet on Glencadam Glory in the Lingfield Derby trial. I can’t believe they have him at 28-1! He beat The Anvil in a decent maiden at Donny last backend where he just stayed all day. Then I backed him last time and he missed the break by 12 lengths before getting beaten 5! Again, he was staying on stoutly that day and this extra couple of furlongs will suit him down to the ground. I also like backing the Gosden horse that Dettori turns down when he has the choice as he is a lousy judge. The O’Brien horse will probably be too good but 28’s is too big a price to pass up.

    £25ew Glencadam Glory – 28-1 – 2.30 Lingfield Derby Trial placed

    £25ew Mix and Mingle – 15-2 – 3.40 Lingfield winner
All combined with Glencadam Glory and Senga for £1ew Lucky 31 (£124 staked) – £183.50 won
