Well I’ve been waiting to see what the weather will do and it looks like the rain will stay away so another couple of bets.

I think Highland Reel is a proper Group 1 horse and it will be a big surprise if he doesn’t put this field away. He loves the trip and ground and should be fit after running in Meydan. He has drifted to a backable price.

I am surprised to see such a drift of the Stoute horse Fidaawy in the 3.45. He looks a typical Stoute improver and has only gone up 4lbs for his win last time out achieved when the stable weren’t even firing.

Finally I am going back to my old rogue Seven Heavens in the 5.15. I went against him last time and was happy to do so as Taamol won, but Seven Heavens ran so much better that day as Frankie let him stride out. I think he might just pinch this from the front and start to show his true form.

    £150 win Highland Reel – 2-1 – Coronation Cup – Epsom winner
    £25ew Fidaawy – 15-2 – 3.45 – Epsom lost
    £100 win Seven Heavens – 10-3 – Epsom lost
£3 win Lucky 15 (with Enable), £7.50ew accumulator, £5ew trebles

Thanks Buckers!!! Will post a review and tomorrows bets later but I HAVE to break this Frankel curse before tomorrow and I am sure Commmander is going to win tonight.

A top day with two Group 1 winners including a brilliant performance from Enable. She surely has a massive future after that and I can see her taking on the colts later on in the year. Who knows – maybe even an Arc. I’m sure her amazing trainer has that in the back of his mind. It all went according to plan and Frankie rode the perfect race. 2f out I thought the fav was going to go past her but that one didn’t quite stay and in the end it was an impressive 5 lengths with another 6 lengths back to the 3rd and the rest nowhere. She has all the attributes of a top class filly and I think there are plenty more Group 1 to be won with her.

Highland Reel was pure class and the only surprising thing was the price! He is a proper Group 1 horse who rarely lets you down. What a performance from the runner-up though! Especially as he didn’t handle the track. He will be competing at the top table from now on.

Elsewhere I thought Seven Heavens was finally going to win one but just got run out of it. He is improving and it won’t be long before he wins a decent race. Commander was made to work but he broke my Frankel curse so I can now back Cracksman tomorrow without destroying his chance!! More of that tomorrow.

What a fantastic pot Joni you have the bookies running scared :good: keep up the great tipping.

Let’s hope we see a Frankel win the Derby tomorrow, I know you will be on Cracksman but hope you put a little on Eminent too as you never know and the rain will have eased the ground in his favour.

Thanks Jac – I already have an ew on Eminent at 12’s from just before the Guineas. I think he has a massive chance today. In my dreams it is a 1-2 for the Frankel’s – let’s hope they come true!!

So here we go. It’s D Day in every sense. The world’s greatest race and a chance for Frankel’s sons to do what dad never got the chance to. I genuinely think they both have great chances. Eminent has Group 1 form in the book and I think we all know that the Guineas was a proper race. He may only have finished 6th but he wasn’t beaten far and the step up in trip should be in his favour. I see him travelling powerfully into the race – then it’s just about whether he stays. Cracksman has done nothing wrong. I worry that he is so inexperienced, especially in such a tough race, but I see Frankie riding him handy and committing some way out as this horse is all about that stride. If that happens I think he will be hard to peg back. I have also had a little bit on Glencadam Glory as he could just pick up the pieces if there is a strong pace (and if he deigns to leave the bloody stalls). I have not been impressed with any of the Ballydoyle horses this year – there may be a star amongst them but they haven’t shown themselves yet.

Elsewhere on the day I have had little bits on my fav horse of the year, Sovereign Debt, a horse who has good form and was a little unlucky in the Guineas, Urban Fox and a Hugo Palmer filly who is taking a drop in grade, Unforgettable Filly. Fingers crossed for a historic day!

    £25ew Urban Fox – 9-1 – 2.35 Epsom lost
    £25ew Sovereign Debt 13-2 – 3.10 Epsom winner
    £100 win Cracksman – 9-2 – The Derby lost
    £25ew Glencadam Glory – 40-1 – The Derby lost
    (already advised £50ew Eminent 12-1 – placed but AP only pays 1,2,3 :( )
    £50 win Unforgettable Filly – 13-8 – 2.50 Musselborough – winner
    £1ew Lucky 15 the above
    £3ew Trebles

£20 rev f/c Cracksman and Eminent

In my opinion your Derby choice is a very good one, Joni.
I have the same stakes on him, but for 9/1 and I hope and pray he will win!

So near and yet so far. But they both ran crackers and showed themselves to be Group 1 colts. I know people will say the winner benefitted from the fast pace but I wouldn’t be surprised if he repeated it next time. A mile and a half will certainly be his minimum trip whereas I think we might see the runner-up in the Eclipse next time. As for the Frankel’s – I think they both stayed and they will probably both head to the Curragh where, with a bit more of a galloping track and a bit more experience under their belts, they will hope to reverse the form.

Elsewhere my dear old friend Sovereign Debt did the business for me yet again. This horse has improved so much since joining Ruth Carr. DO you know why? Patience. She doesn’t over-race him. Hugo Palmer showed that he is slowly returning to form as well. Unfortunately my AP bet on Eminent doesn’t pay out as they only do 3 places AP – bit unfair isn’t it?!! Bloody bookies! Might be back with a couple for France tomorrow.

A day of of mixed fortunes today Joni, thank goodness for Sovereign Debt :good: I also did Kool Kompany who was disappointing today. But I really did want to thank you because if I hadn’t visited your Thread this morning I would have completely missed Unforgetabble Filly having to rush out to Tesco and get back before the racing kicked off so BIG thank you and I actually got paid the 5/2 from Paddy Power, hope she goes for the Coronation at Royal Ascot.
What a shame that you didn’t get paid on 4th for Eminent in the Derby again Paddy paid out but my other each way bet was Benbatl who somehow managed to finish 5th, he got seriously outpaced at the start but flew at the finish one to keep an eye on.
So pleased with how both Frankel’s boys ran, obviously disappointed we didn’t get a winner but just a real treat to see them run like that in the Derby. I’ll be watching that again and again.

Good luck with Orderofthegarter at Chantilly tomorrow I’ve not been so brave and gone down the Rivet track, he was very impressive in the Craven and I really like his Sire Fastnet Rock and his Dam is by Galileo so fingers crossed and good luck..Jac X

Thanks Jac – yes I was delighted with the Frankel’s too. Just got back from a day of cricket and seen the French Derby. Orderofthegarter got no sort of run and we were unlucky Botchy! I think he would have gone close with a clear run. Will be interesting next time out…….

One interesting race at Kempton tonight. I can’t choose between Arab Moon and Nathan Mayer who are both improvers on good marks. I have backed them both and done the forecast.

    £50 win Arab Moon – 5-1 – 7.25 Kempton winner (11-2)

I don’t think Nathan Mayer likes the AW will be worth backing when he’s back on turf again..Jac
