Big admirer of Notre Pere myself as well. Fine big stamp of a chaser – typical Dreaper horse. Far from the speediest chaser around but he’ll gallop and stay all day. Could well be a candidate for the Aintree National in the coming years.

Would need it like a bog on Saturday to get anywhere near Kauto Star and The Listener et al. There’ll be far worse 50/1 shots running on both sides of the Irish Sea on Saturday though.

On paper it looks like a stroll in the park you would think for Kauto Star.

For an eachway bet or one for the forecast then perhaps Turpin Green who was only 5l 3rd in Kautos 2007 Gold Cup and has always had ability to win a big race could be in the shake up.

Turpin Green is surely going to need this though. 10 months off… on this ground has to be a risk he wont be battling on at the end

I doubt Turpin Green will be battling on at the end regardless of fitness Clive!

Kauto looks a formality for this now. I’m surprised there’s any 1/2 still going tbh (actually 4/7 with Blue Square and 888).

Did Turpin Green not battle when he won that bizarre 3 runner race at Haydock?

Not battle he was dead and buried coming into the straight and i was their that day and annoyed as i had a bet on Labelthou.

The ground was proper Haydock Heavy and you needed a horse with form over 6m to win a 2m race that day.

That’s fair comment, Neil. I just wanted to see if someone could come up with a good case for TG!
