Just received an email from Aintree about its upcoming season. After its evening meeting on Friday 16th June we are promised “a hedonistic night of fun and nostalgia when Pete Tong brings Ibiza Classics to Aintree Racecourse with the help of The Essential Orchestra and Jules Buckley”.
Can’t wait…
But I expect it will get more people through the gate than Jenas and his promise of great food.
I have heard an unconfirmed rumour that the 16th June fixture will also feature horses running and jumping round the track and you can even place bets on them but that sounds a bit far fetched to me.
January 27, 2023 at 10:30 #1632333The short sighted viewpoint for those of us that post on a forum dedicated to racing and betting is that we’ll just continue to watch from afar whilst the tracks continue to target bringing in a younger audience who want to get bladdered and off their tit5 on drugs.
But I’d like to be able to go to a decent summer meeting without having to deal with the degenerates there who are solely intent on getting in a state. The only way that’s possible is to pay for the hospitality.
The damage is done now though. The tracks are bringing in a fortune having little mix perform after racing. But very few of these people are having a bet so it’s doing nothing to fund the levy.
Myopic thinking at its finest!
January 27, 2023 at 11:31 #1632335How about a reciprocal arrangement with an Ibiza club night at Pete Tong’s gaff where 40 horses are released at closing time?
