On the same principle, and long before my time, the Hairy Mammoth was a fuzzball too, and loved mucking about in the snow !
December 19, 2022 at 13:23 #162739712.45 Kempton Park
1.20 Kempton Park
1.35 Wetherby
1.55 Kempton Park
2.30 Kempton Park
3.05 Kempton ParkI believe the above are the six races that will be on ITV1 on Boxing Day.
The Rowland Meyrick from Wetherby plus the Long Walk Hurdle, the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase, the Christmas Hurdle, the King George VI Chase and a novices’ limited handicap Chase from Kempton Park.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 19, 2022 at 18:33 #1627476Fair play to them for arranging this line up of televised racing over Christmas
December 20, 2022 at 14:13 #1627546Great racing coverage by ITV over the Christmas period and NYD.
Racing Post:
The ITV Racing Christmas Festival features six days of top-class action on the channel from 12 different tracks in Britain and Ireland between December 26 and January 1.Some 41 live races will be shown in all, including eight Grade 1s such as the King George VI Chase, with the Welsh Grand National and Cheltenham’s New Year’s Day card among the big-race highlights across a spectacular six days of racing on terrestrial television across the festive period.
December 20, 2022 at 14:47 #1627550Great? Only in one sense of the word, akin to large or extensive.

It’ll do for me
December 20, 2022 at 21:37 #1627584There is far more live racing on terrestrial than any other sport. Fans of some sports would take six days a year over what they have currently. Racing has never had it so good.

You’re obviously too young to remember the days of Grandstand and World Of Sport.
December 20, 2022 at 22:05 #1627587As stated ad nauseum, I’m no fan of ITV Racing, I only have it it on if it’s on ITV1 and even then it’s muted and I often end up watching races muted on my betting app instead.
BUT….
I’d be the first to admit terrestrial racing viewers have never had it even remotely so good.
ITV4 has almost become an extra racing channel at times.
The coverage next week from Boxing Day onwards is arguably unparalleled in ITV Racing history in its extensiveness and the quality is pretty strong too.
I do remember the halcyon days of Grandstand and World Of Sport, but I don’t recall even them aggregated covering quite so many races over Christmas as ITV Racing will next week.

It’s “extent”. Call yourself a pedant?
December 20, 2022 at 22:09 #1627590I had considered myself the Arkle of pedantry.
Until I met Gladders.
I now realise I am but Flyingbolt.

December 21, 2022 at 12:28 #1627665I remember the later days of Grandstand and as great as it was (as well as having one of my all time favourite theme tunes in all of TV, not just sport), it’s never going to compete with the volume of coverage that can be provided today with multiple ITV channels.
The quality of the coverage is a different matter of course.
December 21, 2022 at 12:33 #1627668The problem I had with grandstand was I was not a horse racing fan as a kid, so they would break off from the snooker or cricket to go to the race. A wicket or a high break would always happen, guaranteed, every. single. time.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 21, 2022 at 12:36 #1627669Indeed Nathan. The armchair sports fan has never had it so good either. Live, uninterrupted coverage of just about anything you want can be found somewhere. Granted it can be expensive but it is there.

Not if you’re willing to put up with commentary in some unknown foreign language- or do a Chezza, and use the mute button- online.
Not that I would advocate doing anything illegal, of course, but there are plenty of free streams out there, with the added bonus that you might meet the Russian beauty of your dreams in between races or at half time in the football.
December 21, 2022 at 12:44 #1627673‘Can be’ 😉
For some reason I get adverts about, er, cosmetic enhancement. Maybe if I go through with that then the Russian models will start throwing themselves at me.
